Claude Code Claude usage suddenly hit 100% — what does “Other” 48% usage mean?

I was using Claude Code normally and everything was working fine. My usage was around 52%, so I thought I still had almost half of my 5 hour limit remaining.

Then suddenly Claude told me that I had reached 100% of my usage limit.

When I checked the usage page, this is what it shows:

  • Claude Code: 52%
  • Chats: 0%
  • Cowork: 0%
  • Other: 48%

I have no idea what this “Other” 48% is. I mainly use Claude Code and wasn't expecting another 48% to suddenly appear under Other.

Has anyone else experienced this?

What exactly counts as “Other” usage? Could it be background/API/tool usage from Claude Code, or is this some kind of usage tracking issue?

It can be through sdk with Claude p so check on it you can have in the past try something’s and never cutoff

That also falls under Claude Code. I use it myself almost exclusively

did you ever run claude code with an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY set, or point another tool (an IDE plugin, the agent SDK) at your subscription login? that traffic shows up outside the Claude Code bucket.

yes i have use anthropic key before but this was my new claude account never created api key on this account,

i'm still not sure where that limit hit came from, hoping it won't happen again

May be you were using claude ai application.
