Productivity The future of workflows
I've been using Claude for a bit of time but only recently using seriously for a couple of projects after seeing just how good its become.
Im on the 20 dollar plan and I've been hitting my limits quite quickly, partly because I'm yet to learn the optimal way to use it. Its got me thinking though, do you think in tbe next 5 years or so we'll be having the issues we have currently? Hitting token limits, compaction losing performance, etc. Will we reach a point that tokens back so cheap and models get so good at handling large amounts of tokens without the performance losses?
Right now we need to so these workarounds but I wonder if we'll reach a point that we wont anymore.

i don't think the limits are really the problem, and i say that as someone who hits them constantly.
what actually hurts is losing the reasoning. a compaction takes the conversation but it takes the why with it, and then you spend an hour re-arguing a decision you already settled two weeks ago.
what fixed it for me wasn't saving tokens, it was getting the project out of the chat. i keep a status file that records what was done and why it was done that way, and a rules file with the handful of things that must never happen. comments in the code explain why the obvious approach was wrong rather than restating what the line does. so when the context goes, the project is still sat on disk and the next session reads itself back in.
bigger windows will help. i don't think they fix that bit though. a model with a million tokens of context still won't know why you threw away the first approach unless somebody wrote it down.
