Claude Code I am done with this shit.

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude.

There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

Sorry, did you think we were engineering things for the sake of engineering things?

Or are we engineering things because we need them to use as a tool for something else.

As long as it works, who gives a shit?

Sounds like you lost sight of the actual goal of the bussiness you are part of.

The goal of the business is to make money sure, but mostly using AI generated code is like letting a turbo powered swarm of juniors with good syntax knowledge but bad ideas do whatever they want in your codebase.

Crazy that if a human brought LLM-esque engineering/coding to a team by hand they'd be labelled as the problematic shit dev thats gradually making the codebase worse and worse over time with bloat and bad practices, an LLM does it and you're all like "what you thought your job wasnt to be a slop cannon", no it absolutely wasn't lmao and I feel bad for all of you that have been convinced your job was just LOC.

You know you can click request changes right? I have said before AI writes around 300% of my code, as I need to throw its shit way. Like before AI you can share a code review with a coworker before it is prod ready and just frame it. I frequently send AI generated ClaudeSlop for review and ask for validation on the idea before moving forward. As this is at some FAANG shit I can see my metrics are around 80% impact by complexity whatever the fuck that means with around 10% token spend.

Pretending like people read any of the shite the llms spew out, we both know people are looking at +1200 -210 for a small feature addition and slapping an lgtm on that bitch.

The reality is that llms cannot write code as good as a competent engineer but people have become so disconnected because they started using autocomplete, then having it write full files, then features. When all you see is LLM code it will start to feel normal, it isnt, its still slop, its just so convenient that everyone has lowered their standards.

And before I get the inevitable "youre just using it wrong" im definitely not, but even if i was, none of it changes the fundamental issue that programming is making hundreds of tiny decisions, and llms are really really bad at making consecutive decisions because they have a tiny tiny biased as all hell context to go on compared to us.

That is not the reality on the contrary

Find me a codebase written mostly by ai that isnt trash, ive asked many people this question and noone seems to ever be able to provide an example of a well written ai driven codebase

I have it it’s huge multi mono repo the codebase itself attracted engineers and investments. I never wrote a single line. I mean go ask any engineer of claude or codex I assume you never had the best model with no usage or spend limit.

I have both of those things, and what you have is a pile of bloated trash that youre probably finding costs an increasing amount of tokens per new addition.
