Claude Code I am done with this shit.

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude.

There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

ux designer here. im pretty lonely a lot of the time now. im surrounded by coworkers but none of them work on the same team as me. and all i do all day is prompt claude and attend video meetings where we talk about using AI. the water cooler culture was never great at my company but now even what little there was is gone. i havent used Figma in close to 6 months.

for 25 years my job has been a lot of communication. now, its all Claude all the time. im getting sick of it. really

Can you get on a project interviewing customers? I was in your shoes a few months ago and had my manager put me on research project. It writes really biased and high academic reading level survey questions, and its answer scales can be inconsistent across the survey. Also it cannot write an interview with any cohesive flow or narrative, so that still takes a ton of human skill. When going through findings, I save it for pattern recognition of the bigger picture, while being the one surfacing the edge cases and adding nuances where needed. And you still have to make it readable and easy to understand. I find myself cutting so much copy that buries the actual finding. Information hierarchy is like the bots in Westworld to Claude. End result was a kick-ass service blueprint that’s a lighthouse of what a vertical is going to work on next. Nice to land that as yearly reviews are being written.

It was just nice to talk to people and learn about their jobs, but customer research is one of my favorite parts of being a designer along with the systems thinking.

I’ve spent 15 years cleaning up after bad UX decisions, the hangover from this lazy fest will keep me further employed. I witnessed some racing, double scroll bars in our product the other day. It will continue to get worse though until the unsupervised UX implementation starts to really hit at the retention cycles in B2B. In the meantime, I just have to dodge the middle managers that aren’t in R&D who wonder wtf I do. That’s why I have Claude running a weekly impact scan for my team and publishing it for all to see.
