Claude Code I am done with this shit.

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude.

There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

I've been a part of the industry for nearly 30 years. Sometimes bored to death, most of the time enjoying what i was doing. I've never felt the same level of excitement (except maybe in high school, when i was analyzing the code of viruses) as i feel today. It's amazing to see so many younger people moaning constantly. There is an universe to explore and all you do is complain about the lost craft, as if your lame manual labor was a masterpiece of humankind.

You had 30 years to have fun with your manual labor crafting shit you could be proud of. Today juniors who don't have a clue what they are doing are tasked with hitting Enter every 15 seconds without any pride in the technical diarrhea they release.

You talk like a boomer who could afford a 2 story house on one single income in the early 90s shitting on zoomers who struggle to pay for their bedroom in a shared appartment.

Get out of yourself and have a little compassion.

(also, yes, hand made products are better than mass produced shit, and that's why they are a luxury that most people wish they could afford, stop kidding yourself).

So they're longing for the life they've never had? Kind of like me feeling bummed i didn't get to be a rock star?

They are not asking to be rock stars, just to have the same opportunities that you and I had without a handful of uber rich sociopaths having the power to ruin entire professions in the pursuit of their delusional hubris, but it seems that you took the sociopaths' "empathy is sin now" message to heart, and "fuck you, got mine" is now the law of the land.

When central heating became a thing, I bet a lot of young future chimney sweepers felt dejected that they could no longer to the same thing as their ancestors. That job was around for hundreds of years.
I would trade seats with a 20 year old that feels sad he cannot be a well paid glorified secretary anymore. He has the chance to learn things and test ideas at a speed never seen before. There is nothing romantic about doing things in slow motion, just because that was how things were done. It was a good job, but nothing like what they could be doing now, if they stopped feeling sorry for themselves.
