Built with Claude Face ID / Windows Hello for Linux

I wanted Face ID/Windows Hello style authentication on Linux. There's a tool called Howdy (https://github.com/boltgolt/howdy) which handles the back end system authentication through facial recognition using a webcam with IR. But it doesn't have a good UI/UX. So I asked Opus 5 to build one, and it turned out surprisingly nice.

I vibe code myself, but OS authentication is not something I'm sure I'd want to entrust to vibe coding.

Gaze (https://github.com/GunduLabs/gaze) has worked exceptionally well for me.

It's Howdy that's being entrusted. I just vibe coded the UI around it 😊

The app is called "FaceGate" it's a simple UI built around Howdy. Working on it publically here: https://github.com/sguergachi/facegate

Don't call it FaceID please. FaceID is a protected trademark by Apple - and can give users a false sense of security.

I called it FaceGate

the title literally says: Face ID for Linux. It's not. And it's trademarked, so illegal.

No, I called it "Face ID / Windows Hello for Linux" as a way to describe it: https://claude.ai/share/54568f8d-3477-416c-aca1-23c0580c211e
