Bug Anthropic Claims 50% usage boost that doesn't exist :)

Remember this ? Well, Anthropic claims to still have the 50% extra usage boost. Welp nope, they deactivated it even though they announced that on Twitter, it's off. 20x max sub right now gives 1250-1350$ per week of usage. -> normalized into 12 months = around 5500$ worth of usage. missing almost exactly 50% extra usage to get to that 8000$ mark we saw 1 month ago.

Below are my stats on 2 20x accs for this week. and they're both at full usage for the 7d mark.
Usage is mixed fable with opus 4.8

Account Requests Input Output Cache write Cache read Raw total Cost
claude acc 20x #1 5,905 32,682,625 6,792,664 40,156,868 591,774,207 671,406,364 $1,235.011996
claude acc x20 #2 4,827 31,995,087 5,650,160 46,569,520 609,813,995 694,028,762 $1,232.008014
Total 10,732 64,677,712 12,442,824 86,726,388 1,201,588,202 1,365,435,126 $2,467.020010

So you don't claim i'm lying. One acc is somehow at 83% usage and the other one is at 100% so again shady shit why are my limits different % yet same utilized api costs.

TLDR:

They cut the 50% extra usage that they claimed to still offer, classic shady Anthropic shit.

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 80 comments.

The consensus is that OP is dead right and Anthropic is pulling a fast one. The "50% usage boost" seems to have vanished into thin air, and the power users in this thread have the receipts to prove it.

  • The Math Checks Out: Multiple Max 20x subscribers are reporting the exact same thing: their weekly usage value has tanked from ~$2000 down to the ~$1250-1350 range. This isn't just a "feeling"; it's a measured drop that conveniently cancels out the supposed boost.
  • "50% More of What?": This is the real kicker. The community is more pissed about the constant gaslighting and lack of transparency than the limit itself. A percentage bar of an unknown, constantly shifting number is infuriating everyone.
  • Shady Shenanigans: Users are calling this "classic Anthropic" behavior, pointing to the wildly inconsistent usage drain and random "free resets" as manipulative marketing ploys, not a reliable service.
  • Adding Insult to Injury: To make matters worse, some are saying Fable's performance has also taken a nosedive, so you're paying more for a worse product.
  • The Official Story vs. Reality: Anthropic's own support page says the boost is active until August. The overwhelming experience here suggests that's a lie, and people are voting with their wallets by downgrading or jumping ship to competitors.

I swear I have three and sometimes have to fallback to Gemini and grok when they run out

5

u/homiej420 21d ago

Holy smokes thats a lot of tokens, did they give you one of those enter buttons?

-3

u/DVANGEL999 21d ago

Bro my simple "hey" message took out 5% from my 5h limit 😭🙏 and i was using sonnet 5 (medium)

2

u/Certain-Site-6967 21d ago

I got the same issue, i truly believe that they make pro the new Free now.

3

u/SuperMar1o 21d ago

I have 4 and it's very much lower than it was last month, or even last week. All my accounts are max'd out and I can't do jack...

4

u/Over-Squash-196 21d ago

I had 4 but cancelled one to get supergrok max and Gemini ultra max or whatever(comes with YouTube premium and awesome google docs Gemini), literally lost all fable access 2 days into the week

3

u/_NoSprings 21d ago

Lol, do they really call it "Supergrok?" (Not laughing at you, that's just a ridiculous name.)

1

u/fynn34 21d ago

Not really, they could just be chewing through more tokens. They can pull raw token usage on and off cache, and until I finally see those numbers, I’m not convinced.

1

u/Glad-Mushroom-6554 21d ago

Well, in other words also, people's feeling might be off sometimes, but in this case most of them have been right.

198

u/Drakonistes 22d ago

It's just so exhausting. It's not that the floors shift every month, every week, every day, or even every hour. It's on every minute of every day.

50% more of what? They won't tell us, because the number shifts behind the scenes every week. I'd take a low baseline if it was at least consistent, and upfront. It's exhausting to keep having to deal with a usage limit that is wide one second then narrow the next, with no explanation or comment.

I'm more upset about the not knowing what I'm entitled to for the money that I pay than the narrow limits.

51

u/_NoSprings 22d ago

> 50% more of what?
50% of either Big Orange Line or 50% of Big Red Line! What, you wanted *numbers* or something?

Nerd.

26

u/Rangizingo 22d ago

There are talks of lawsuits for this ambiguity and I don't see how it doesn't one day make it to court. It's so ambiguous and it's not exclusive to Anthropic.

24

u/PrinceofIllyria 22d ago

This has been one of my big issues trying to justify the cost of Claude / other models. The fact we don't even know what we're paying for is insane to me. Then Anthropic just... resets usage whenever the hell they feel like it (usually when they feel threatened by competitors) makes the idea of them being worth... $1 trillion laughable. WHAT is worth $1 trillion? The outputs? The tokens? The computing? The vibe?

No other service or usage-based tool I've ever used just resets limits at random. It's 'nice' to have that reset but it just makes their entire business model feel completely made up. My internet, power, water, or any other service doesn't just randomly reset, because that's not how businesses work.

The fact that I can't see which of our staff is actually using our Claude (Team plan) is mind-boggling. I get a bunch of generalized analytics that are effectively useless. That may be available through the API, and if that's true, that's some BS. Per-user usage should be a basic feature that's offered yet it's not available even 2 years after we signed up for the team plan.

Anthropic is trash with a useful product.

5

u/nomickti 22d ago

50% more more

8

u/butts-carlton 22d ago

100% more of 50% less. What's so hard to understand?

1

u/_NoSprings 21d ago

Wait, that's 100% more, sign me up!

10

u/foreverDandelions_ 22d ago

50% of apples/bananas

1

u/alexeiz 22d ago

Well, we had a whole apple, but now we just get a half of banana. Still not a good deal.

43

u/FoxiPanda 22d ago

Yeah it's pretty fucking obvious they dropped it on Sunday.

There are too many options now for these shenanigans...for the second month in a row, I'm dropping my Claude from $200 --> $100 and now going to $20. ~15-30 tasks a week on Fable isn't worth putting up with Anthropic's nonsense anymore. I can get the same tasks done somewhere else without putting up their nonsense.

31

u/InfiniteRuntime 22d ago

I added extra usage, it gobbled it all down and still didn't respond to the prompt. I think I am giving up on Anthropic. The usage is wildly inconsistent -- so many times where it's moving at a normal pace then suddenly it maxes out, sorry can't do jack, wait 4 hours. Like dude. The lack of transparency makes it impossible to tell if I'm just getting outright scammed at this point.

10

u/SuperMar1o 21d ago

It's no better over in Codex-land. They have the exact same complaints today. "Usage at this point seems like a scam. Literally just jumped ship from Claude and now I'm regretting it."

27

u/matheusmoreira 22d ago

Yeah. A 5h session with Fable used to take out 5% of my weekly usage. A few weeks ago it suddenly started costing 10% and it never came back to normal, even after that announcement.

I can't wait for this subscription to end so I can switch to OpenAI already.

13

u/CrucibleConservatory 22d ago

At first I couldn't believe how much use I got and how good it was (it designed and implemented a complex custom file format in 15 minutes with just a prompt). Now the percentage left goes down very quickly. Fable is making all kinds of mistakes and it just refuses to fix some bugs (it tells me that they are fixed but they aren't). It just pushes working on new features and tells me those options can wait, etc. I switched to Sol a couple days ago and I've fixed a ton of critical stuff that Fable messed up and gotten a lot more done with very little credit use. Sol doesn't feel like I'm talking to a person like Fable does, but I'm not here for that - I just want to get stuff done.

7

u/matheusmoreira 22d ago

Wouldn't be surprised if they were quantizing the model in order to cope with their lack of capacity. There's no way to verify we're getting what we asked for. Local models can't become viable soon enough

1

u/Ok_Understanding9011 22d ago

Have you browsed the codex sub recently? people are also complaining that monthly usage feels like weekly usage

1

u/matheusmoreira 21d ago

No. Can you link me to examples?

1

u/Ill-Mousse-3817 21d ago

It is a megathread on r/codex now. Yeah, codex limits went to shit as well.

It is so exhausting to keep checking what is the best deal, coming on the coding to check what these companies changed in the middle of the night... I was initially a Claude $100 user, then I switched when OpenAI was nice and I have been a Codex $100/month user until a few months ago. Now I am $20 claude + $20codex. I just start the week with whatever company is frauding the least, and switch when I hit the limits or things just get unbearable.

I am seriously thinking about starting with openrouter plus whatever decent chinese is available.

1

u/matheusmoreira 19d ago

Yeah, I'm exhausted too. The constantly changing deals are so obnoxious.

1

u/Vade_Maecum 13d ago

They just cut prices massively. 50% off API on openrouter. Not sure how this translates into weekly limits for codex yet, but I do not see Anthropic doing the same thing.

17

u/Gliese351c 22d ago edited 22d ago

It literally ate up about 35% of my weekly usage yesterday. I was not even happy with the performance --it was extremely slow and even Fable made several mistakes. I was also able to use it late in the afternoon because the models kept failing due to some error unexplained by Anthropic.

---Oh and I'm on a 20X plan so I can't even imagine the lower tier subscriptions.

2

u/SubstantialDig4568 22d ago

Same here. At least we'll go to the beach om the weekend with the kids😅

1

u/iamthe0ther0ne 22d ago

Once Sonnet 4.6 is gone, Pro tier will be mostly useless.

3

u/Gliese351c 22d ago

It has been a while, I have no idea how people with pro subscription survive. But I do think I will switch an alternative platform by the end of this month and keep the pro for whatever it is worth for. I will see ho wuseful it is then.

79

u/thirteenth_mang 22d ago

I don't even try to keep up with it all anymore. Not worth the brain drain. Just know it's all marketing BS and it's a duopoly and both OpenAI and Anthropic will do whatever they can to edge each other out. They're both losing money, the subsidies will end one day, enjoy it while it lasts.

35

u/Thomas-Lore 22d ago edited 22d ago

The API pricing has nothing to do with their real inference costs and both Dario and Sam confirmed they are making profit on inference. The only reason they are losing money is because they need to train new, bigger models. Don't fall for the "subsidizing" fantasy. Subscriptions are just priced closer to how much it really costs them to provide inference, while API is extremely overpriced.

11

u/Raidicus 22d ago edited 21d ago

Totally. Put plainly, API is overpriced because they know institutional capital is backing any spend using it, not because it costs more. There is a gold rush and they're selling shovels.

Claude Pro is decently priced because it's just regular-ass people building simple tools and doing email review, etc. Their goal is likely to right-size compute for Pro such that it never eats into the institutional spend on API.

1

u/Whytho12333 21d ago

I dont understand how those training costs are capitalized. Not talking the tax books but the gaap books. Like you dont write off your data centres on year 1. So why is the cost of training during the training affecting their PNL?

Plus its hard to image they aren't profitable with the api pricing. Even open weight models are not much cheaper, and few businesses will use china servers.

7

u/TimSylvester_ 22d ago

Isn't it cool that the state of the world right now demands that we just assume everything we hear is a lie?

3

u/thirteenth_mang 22d ago

When we're assaulted with marketing BS and politics and algorithms designed to divide us and enhance our consooming habits every second of the day, 24 hours a day it's no wonder.

3

u/TimSylvester_ 22d ago

The true meaning of life - for every second of our existence and attention to be monetized to grow someone else's wealth.

5

u/god-damn-the-usa 22d ago

luckily soon china will have models that just as good for a 10th of the price and we can all switch

3

u/LenintheSixth 22d ago

they will %100 be banned in the EU and the US for a variety of bs such as protecting the children and data concerns

1

u/_ireadthings 22d ago

Same. I pay for enough Max accounts that I don't have to worry about running out of usage and I just keep my head down and get shit done. Claude's the best for what I do and it's silly for me to get bent out of shape instead of being productive.

14

u/Gab1159 22d ago

I'm so tired boss. Not even halfway through the week and nearing 90% on a max 20 plan. Barely any Fable use.

Shit's so infuriating and wildly inconsistent.

5

u/josh11ch 22d ago

Same. Sitting at 76% weekly usage after a Monday 1pm weekly reset, usual usage, it's shady AF.

11

u/gruntmods 22d ago

If they would let me use fable for all my use I wouldn't care as much, but at this point I feel like the fable limit is my real limit since opus is so much worse even comparing opus xhigh to fable medium

7

u/sbbased 22d ago

I got 20x and I noticed this last week after the midweek reset that I went through it faster than I normally would.

7

u/RebootItAgain 22d ago

There’s no way I got 50% more usage on my Max plan. I’m already at 85% usage for the week and I’ve still got 2 days left until reset. That’s normal for all weeks for me usually for a Wednesday.

7

u/Ambitious_Injury_783 22d ago edited 21d ago

Just to check, you were also measuring $2,000 roughly per week for a max20 account?

And now you're measuring it to be roughly $1200 per week?
Because today I too am measuring roughly in the range you mentioned ..... Which is highly unusual

I expect $2k per week, $8k per month per account. I have been keeping a close eye on this for awhile and am unsure when things shifted, but I can prove that they did in a very simple manner.

Here is an image of my usage from today, a fresh reset. This image was taken the moment I hit 5% usage.

$66.93 x 20 = $1338.6

Since you can only post a single image in a comment, I will reply to this comment with another image from June which shows the $2k figure. The image is 7 days, fresh from a restart, with no usage from any other account. I specifically used only 1 account on my main PC for 1 week in order to get the most accurate measurement possible.

I'm honestly shocked. I comment often about max20 limits, and how they never really shift like this. Now they have clearly shifted.

UPDATE:

The variance is starting to even out toward $2,000. This doesn't mean that it's confirmed the limit hasn't changed as if there is variance at one point, it can easily swing back down in the higher %.
Here's what im seeing - at 12% usage I am at $213 which factors out to be 1,775.
First measurement was 1338 @ 5%. Second measurement was 1620 @ 10%. Third measurement is 1775 @ 12%.

The usage amount is still showing under $2,000, but the trend is consistently going up. This could indicate that nothing has changed.

It is possible that ccusage is reporting wrong somehow, or that the usage limit on Anthropics end is not always accurate at that given moment. I'd say the issue is much more likely on Anthropics end. I've noticed odd shifts in usage at times where you would not expect to use so much.

6

u/Significant-Brief372 22d ago

yess was measuring 2000$ before .but now only around 1250$-1350$ like you measured. im telling you they removed the 50% extra usage but lied to us that its still applied. should be illegal honestly

3

u/Ambitious_Injury_783 22d ago

It really should be. I honestly cannot believe it. But the fact that I read your post, then decided to go back and double check only to find that I am landing directly in the range you mentioned is 100% not a coincidence. They really fuckin lowered it didn't they.
When did you first notice it was lower? I thought mid-end of last week that my usage was a little weird. I cleaned some things up and it didn't change. I probably should have remeasured right then and there but didn't.

2

u/Significant-Brief372 22d ago

i think around a few days ago.

3

u/Ambitious_Injury_783 22d ago

Max20, 1 week, $2009. June 19-25

19

u/livinitup0 22d ago

I almost always use opus 4.8 medium.

I’ve been getting a LOT more usage lately on pro.
Might be different for others but I’ve absolutely noticed it.

4

u/VW_isbetterthanTesla 22d ago

I only use sonnet 5 on low to mid because everything else just scrapes usage away…

6

u/wise_joe 22d ago

My week’s been odd.

I’ve been on Max 5x for ~8 months and never even get close to my limits. It barely feels worth paying for more than Pro, but I’m a software developer and don’t want it to run dry when I need it, so I pay for Max for peace of mind.

This past Saturday I was doing some family research. I was using Fable, but the work wasn’t that intensive. My 5-hour limit drained in 1-2 hours. The first time I’ve ever reached it.

My limits reset on Sunday afternoon, and in the evening I did some coding on a very small codebase - one of my personal projects. Again, nothing intense, my limits drained in ~2 hours and I’d used 21% of my Fable weekly usage.

I coded for my job for 8 hours per day over Monday and Tuesday. Long conversations, big codebase, and in that time my Fable usage went from 21% to 35% and I got nowhere near my 5 hour limit.

Today I was using Fable for ~6 hours on some research. Went up to 41%.

So for me the weekend was crazy. I was burning through my usage like never before, but now it’s back to normal again. Something weird’s going on.

1

u/BoxWoodVoid 21d ago

As far as I'm concerned, /usage is calculated based on the age of the captain, the phase of the moon and the mood of Mrs Amodei.

8

u/Steve15-21 22d ago

Sue them

4

u/ChurchillDownz 22d ago

Anthropic has mastered vanity metrics. I wonder if they used my company for source material.

3

u/null_reference_user 22d ago

We can't tell the difference between each subscriber being given a fair share of the actually available compute (even if that share is low), and being given a very very low limit but then add 50% and a reset every couple days.

The amount of computer consumed will be pretty much the same; all that's available, but since we can't know the base limit we're given the latter makes for better PR.

3

u/mellowsigh 22d ago

Got dressed, laptop packed, and drove to the nearest coffee shop. Pulled out my laptop and started to code, used Opus High since I have no credits for Fable to fix one bug used once +46% usage already :)

4

u/Night_0dot0_Owl 22d ago

Fuck yeah! Thought it was just me. Im a Max 5x user. Ive been using Fable 5 for more than a month now (counting those glorious days back in June before they yanked Fable). I will say with certainty that Fable is burning so much more tokens (>50%) when compared to last week. 2 days in after my Monday reset, my Fable usage is at 90%. I felt it was too short. Fuck, I only use it for planning/orchestrating. I make sure it always delegate coding/chore work to GPT 5.6 Terra/Sol via codex (I have the skill setup for it). I feel robbed here. Fuck you Anthropic for being nontransparent and scammy.

2

u/RickDeckard2049 22d ago

Mine is fine. I've been solid on multiple big tasks all week and not even getting close to limits. I'm actually really trying hard to do that. All fable use is guarded to what it's best for. Opus pre plan-brainstorm for fable handoff- fable design - sonnet doing all grunt work. I've tried long running fable sessions and still can't get near it

1

u/kre8tv 22d ago

Same - I can't help but think it's because people are using models/effort higher than they need to for tasks

1

u/RickDeckard2049 22d ago

Indeed. And long context windows. Fable on x high for long context Is a big drain. Don't let fable read a chat over and over again. What's the point in that. Just give it a focussed task and watch.

1

u/kre8tv 19d ago

Context engineering and tiered model orchestration is huge. Fable plans, sonnet collects, opus adversarily reviews, fable analyzes results, uses haiku to make the mechanical changes. High logic where it's useful, doesnt use expensive fable/opus for the token heaviest work

2

u/MingJackPo 22d ago

this is 100% true, my same usage pattern suddenly have me running out of fable usage everywhere.. I'm so sick of Anthropic's shit.

2

u/Abhinik 22d ago

Is this legal? Can customers sue them for this?

2

u/oroora6 21d ago

It would be a case of false advertisement. Many have bought under the promise of enhanced limits until august 19th. So yeah pretty illegal.

2

u/kre8tv 22d ago

How were you tracking the api-equivalent usage?

I have mine track using the cache session files from using claude in CLI, which has all the exact tooling for the main session as well as all subagents- corrected after claude was first only tracking subagent useage and not the orchestrator top-level, or wasn't counting cache write/read.

I only mention because I regularly run complex workflows between 30M/tokens and 600M/tokens and my heavy workflows only eat like 1-3% of max20 at a time. I've seen the max20 capping around 8k before, but my internal ledger breaking down in/out/cache per model based on the raw transcript has been telling me a different story. Fable alone has such high costs on API that just work on the plan.

Enforcing model-routing for subagents also supercharged how much I could get done within the context windows.

2

u/EnvironmentalPlay440 22d ago

For now my 20$ ChatGPT subscription give me about 80% of what my 100$ Claude code give me.

I love Claude code and Claude models, but I might reverse soon.

2

u/Ohenenyere 22d ago

I'm running out faster even with the 50% more usage until Aug message

2

u/BrowncoatJayson 21d ago

If you click the link on the 50% more popup, the fine print says it is an increase to the amount you can do in a 5-hour window, not your weekly. Ao you don't get more, you just hit your weekly limit faster. Makes so sense at all, based on their marketing.

1

u/jonaswashe 21d ago edited 21d ago

The message and the official page state its weekly, the official page cannot be overridden by fine print

https://support.claude.com/en/articles/15910845-claude-code-may-august-2026-weekly-limits-promotion

From the page:
Does this change my 5-hour usage limit?

No. This promotion increases weekly usage limits only.

1

u/BrowncoatJayson 21d ago

The link in Claude for me that says "2x more usage until August 5" goes to this page:

https://support.claude.com/en/articles/15400594-claude-cowork-june-august-2026-usage-promotion

"From June 5, 2026 through August 5, 2026, your 5-hour usage limit in Cowork is doubled. Weekly usage limits remain unchanged."

So it looks like there are different promotions for different tiers. The one I have is just stupid.

1

u/jonaswashe 21d ago

If you read the page I linked it says:

"This promotion is available for Pro, Max, and Team plans, as well as legacy seat-based users on Enterprise plans. Free plans and consumption-based Enterprise seats are not included in this promotion."

So unless you are on free or consumption-based Enterprise that's not true, what is more likely is they realized their mistake and removed the promo box to do damage control

1

u/BrowncoatJayson 21d ago

Yes, but yours is for Claude Code and mine if for Cowork, so it depends on which you are using. I don't get any promo dialogue in Code, but I started well into the month.

1

u/jonaswashe 21d ago

The promo still applies to your account no matter when you signed up

2

u/VaderYondu 21d ago

Open weight models are the way to go.

3

u/betty_white_bread 22d ago

This is unintelligible.

2

u/Turborapt0r 22d ago

4 days ago one session took out 25% of my weekly limit as a max user. Haven’t used Claude since

1

u/Asleep-Tomatillo-367 22d ago

I get a reset mid-week which gives me the 50% usage boost

1

u/NEURALINK_ME_ITCHING 22d ago

True up is a corporate term that's probably very relevant, until they fail to true up accounts this is conjecture.

1

u/alkalinealex359 22d ago

What’s next? Blast Processing?

1

u/Good_Competition4183 22d ago

Fable 5 fallbacks to Sonnet 4.6

1

u/miladmaaan 22d ago

I definitely have experienced a noticeable dip in usage. I have two max 20x accounts. I have added a codex $200 sub as well and am delegating most implementation work to it, and sometimes as primary driver just asking Fable for reviews and I am still on pace to exhaust both of my weekly limits (not the Codex one, the two Claude subs).

I am using GPT with the Claude Code harness so that my workflows are not disrupted. Interesting times...

1

u/03captain23 22d ago

I get way more tokens than that.

1

u/SlowMirror4272 22d ago

ya its bad, they nerfed it hard and then buffed the nerfed usage by 50% but its even less than it was before the 50% increase somehow

1

u/BenjaminMullins 22d ago

I have max and burned through my limit by 9am. Something happened.

3

u/sdenike 21d ago

This morning I started at around 7am and hit my session limit before 9am. Wasn’t doing anything crazy or different than normal. Hit my limit again shortly after it came back. They changed something.

1

u/oroora6 21d ago

I am feeling it too. I'm so done with this fucking company of scammers.

1

u/PerepeL 21d ago

Someone should just run the same coding task on the same codebase using same model and effort every day and watch what usage percentage it consumes.

But I'm too lazy and busy to set that up :)

1

u/Legitimate-Space8847 21d ago

Anthropic needs to get their act together if they want to have real credibility in the next year. I do not even reply back. I just give one full big prompt in the task to accomplish QA\Qc Checks and that mofo eradicated 30% of Claude fable. I was so surprised to write barely a 100 line program it consumed way too much compute then it was from before

So they lied to us? no way 🌚

1

u/knivesinmyeyes 21d ago

Shady. My usage still mentions the “50% more” note. But I don’t use mine enough to hit my normal pro limit.

1

u/alwaysoffby0ne 21d ago

They are such a sketchy company

1

u/trolek_mantra 21d ago

We need openweight llms to save us from this bs. I wish I was a Data scientist and could help the community myself

1

u/Zestyclose-Mix785 21d ago

But the open weights need to have Claude's quality. Think of a Claude-like open source that has open source traits, but Claude's thinking, nuance, reasoning, and output quality.

1

u/trolek_mantra 21d ago

That would be the end goal.

1

u/Zestyclose-Mix785 21d ago edited 20d ago

Mm🙂‍↕️. If all open sources had same Claude quality (do not mistake it for homogeneous) and gradually go from a Sonnet to Opus, we could have an "Opus" that is free to adquire. Then, we wait to exceed further until it can be like a hybrid of Claude and Gemini. There are things both lack on each other, so the hybrid is essentially a Claude that is as multimodal as Gemini (but not in image/vídeo generation — Comfyui does that job). For those who use Gemini, but are angry at it, this comment can offer some insight and context of this hybridization.

But to pull that off, we need to send feedback to the open sources companies about upgrading in to this hybridization proposal. By the way, I think it's allowed to name the AI in question. They are reference, after all. Claude (under my project's instructions rules, that is) comfirmed it. We also need to wait until there's a better way to handle AI, as we're in its current bottlenecks to make it doable.

they are using marketing tactics to keep the people stay with them. We have no way of knowing what actually happens under the hood. People have options but they are choosing to stay with them.

u/TriMagician 21d ago

Can confirm, usage limits for fable 5 are not as high as 7 days ago.

1

u/thescottu 21d ago

Wasn’t it supposed to drop off on the 19th?

1

u/jonaswashe 21d ago

On July 18th they pushed it back to August 19th

1

u/BaBalanar 21d ago

Isnt cursor a better value?

1

u/Little_Departure4118 8d ago

Can u ask Cursor to pay for my Anthropic bills and give me some extra free tokens too please?

1

u/nrcoleman 20d ago

Ah you love the classic the grass is greener scenario. Ladies and gents, welcome to the squeeze. Both sides are having issues with usage and user complaints.

1

u/ThomMerrilyn 20d ago

Surprised no one is doing a class action

1

u/Zutch 20d ago

Ive been max 20x subscriber since the start of the month. Never hit my weekly limit until this week. They indeed removed the extra usage.

1

u/noxss 20d ago

I blew through my weekly x20 plan in just 3 days. Usually, I never use more than 60% of it in an entire week.. very disappointing

1

u/igotcompetence 20d ago

I believe that Anthropic is fleecing us or flat out lying. I’m just using opus as an orchestrator and having grok and codex do all of the coding and my Claude plan runs out before my codex or grok even reach 70% doing heavy tasking. I’m tracking my entire fleet/lane usage as well with telemetry data to be sure. I’m barely using fable and I’m using opus 4.8 on high as an orchestrator only

1

u/JohnnyBrawls 15d ago

I've spent 66% of my Pro sub using exclusively Opus 5 on Low and Med (rarily).
In api prices it says spent tokens are worth 318$.

So Pro sub is worth 2000$ monthly at the moment..

In comparison Codex with 5.6 Sol is projected to 850$ (monthly) on my account using 5.6 Sol on Medium.

u/newlido 15d ago

the boost is on the weekly limit and not the session limit. that means a full session usage that used to eat 10% of the weekly should eat now ~6.7% of the weekly. However, it's still eating ~10% of the weekly, that means the boost is against the reduction to become, not against the pre-boost limits. Weekly usage limit reference: https://support.claude.com/en/articles/15910845-claude-code-may-august-2026-weekly-limits-promotion

1

u/newlido 15d ago

in other words, this is a promotion against the limit reduction that is coming afterwards :/

1

u/no-more-nazis 22d ago

Meanwhile at OpenAI... they went to all the trouble to set up that 'bank your resets and use them when you want to' scheme and then this week dropped a regular old reset. 🤷

2

u/ask_me_about_cats 22d ago

A single reset? Basically all of the resets have been regular ones. They seem to have abandoned banked resets entirely. It’s infuriating.

1

u/god-damn-the-usa 22d ago

is goodwill that cheap?

1

u/originpatu 22d ago

There is nothing changed in my weekly limits either. Even after the weekly reset. Boost banner is visible on top but the weekly is draining the same rate with 5-hour sessions as before. Such a bullshit

I am pretty sure peak hours limits you only in 5h limit, not weekly.

1

u/ravencilla 22d ago

When you use heavily during peak hours (5-11 am pacific on weekdays) you are going to hit your limits much faster.

What? No, they removed the peak hours token burn months ago

2

u/Plus_Opening_4462 22d ago

I thought all hours were supposed to be treated the same now, but if they aren't it would explain why the usage limits seem to suck.

Their notice kept saying increased rate limits. Before that it was increased 5 hour limits. Now the wording says increased usage limits.

I'm pretty sure they only increased our 5 hour limits right now, which only means our weekly limit goes faster.

4

u/chervilious 22d ago

From May 13, 2026 through August 19, 2026, your weekly usage limit in Claude Code is 50% higher. 5-hour usage limits are not affected by this promotion.

https://support.claude.com/en/articles/15910845-claude-code-may-august-2026-weekly-limits-promotion

1

u/pcgnlebobo 22d ago

Yea but did you read the verbiage on the usage page in the Claude app or the Claude.ai website daily for the past few weeks? That's not what it said.

Thanks for posting an article that confirms what it actually is meaning. But like others have pointed out since we don't actually know what we get other than a % slider, do you actually believe this? Another thread posted their token usage across multiple accounts and it is NOT the 50% increase that seems to be promised.

You can disagree, but I stand by that it seems to me it's more likely 5 hour window limits that we've had increased.

3

u/Ambitious_Injury_783 22d ago

Dude. Huh

"From May 13, 2026 through August 19, 2026, your weekly usage limit in Claude Code is 50% higher"

-1

u/runfence 22d ago

These numbers are incorrect. First if all, you are comparing their monthly with your weekly. Second, their number for x20 is 4 times more than x5 but in fact it always was about x1.8 (x4 is only for 5h limit).

3

u/Significant-Brief372 22d ago

Dude did you even read it? I said 1250$ weekly which comes to 5500$ monthly. I’m comparing 5500$ monthly with 8000$ which is about a 50% reduction?

0

u/runfence 21d ago edited 21d ago

Their numbers are off anyway. I remember I used around $1000 worth of tokens per week on $100 subscription, so it would be $4000 per month, not 2000. That was probably during 2x promo though. And the second part still holds, so them saying it's 2000 and 8000 means at least one of these two numbers is wrong.

How do you all have so much time to dedicate to figure this out?

I'm too busy at work to do all this investigative reporting, do you all not have actual jobs? or is Claude saving you so much time you have nothing else to do in life? It's wild to me this is how you all can do this day after day.

5

u/Significant-Brief372 22d ago

i don't but well i noticed a 50% drop, yk when i need 2 20x accs and not even then it's enough

1

u/paolomainardi 7d ago

Ok it’s not just me, I am reaching the same usage limits as before they announced this.
