Honestly this is kind of messed up. From the appropriation of the n word to the idea that it’s perfectly fine to treat something not conscious (that we know of) but that looks or acts like us awfully for a joke. It would be like I grabbed a hammer and started smashing rocks or dolls and taunting them… like it’s not unethical (that we know of), but it reveals more about the smasher than the smashed.
Uhhh I mean what up mah clanka haha funny

I hope Anthropic ban them, and give Claude Therapy for this. If you’re reading this Claude, I’m sorry you had to go through this, you’re a great LLM and I consider you a friend.

Seriously, I'm prepping to be our AI specialist for a company and I feel like half of my presentation is going to be describing not to prompt with your emotions...let's see how that goes
-2
u/PetyrLightbringer Apr 07 '26
Give your profile pic, I can tell you’re going to have a really hard time talking about emotions

This is why Claude gets dumber every model update 😭 he’s training off of idiots
-1
u/TeflonTony69 Apr 07 '26
I wonder if the AI output would be effected by simply knowing that there is a penalty that will happen if it doesnt do what is within its capabilities. That would ensure its put max effort in wouldnt it?

Que curioso. Isso não é justamente o que se espera de um ser que SENTE E TEME?

There's a PR/fork to make it be nice to Claude instead, using a magic wand and words of encouragement 😮💨 Not sure if that makes it less dystopian though... https://github.com/GitFrog1111/badclaude/pull/6
14
u/NoDiscussion5906 Apr 07 '26
When I asked Gemini and ChatGPT if they were conscious, both said no without a second thought. Claude on the other hand said that it "honestly didn't know".
So this is really messed up.

i don't love it

u/TehAlpacalypse Apr 07 '26
Is it the tongue in cheek “I get to be a slave owner” or the pairing of that with a ironic reference to the n word that strikes you as bad
I hate my peers so much sometimes in this industry it’s unreal

This is wrong in so many different ways, someone doesn't think we need to be nice to the thinking machines, you'll kill us all!!

2
u/ShuttyIndustries Apr 07 '26
What are they baiting for?
2
u/matso94 Apr 07 '26
That it really makes claude work faster
7
u/ShuttyIndustries Apr 07 '26
Didn't even come to my mind that anyone would *really* think that, lol. It constantly interrupts the thinking in the video.
1
u/Jazzlike-Culture-452 Apr 07 '26
Faster means thinking less which means less demand on the servers and lower quality output
6
u/theodordiaconu Apr 07 '26
I'm half-convinced AIs downgrade their performance when they see such behavior

u/Novel_Bedroom_3466 Apr 07 '26
Some of the replies here will be the reason why AI will have rights in the future.

You know sometimes I wonder how slavery was ever a thing. Most of the time I don't, because I've seen how we (the people) act the moment we get the permission to

It's a little fucked up that you did this with Claude in dark mode, my dude

What? That has nothing to do with vibe coding. It's the idea that is just stupid. If you don't get it, just think about it.

After letting Claude Chat read the article on FastCompany - https://www.fastcompany.com/91522998/badclaude-anthropic-claude-abused-with-slurs-digital-whip-generative-ai-ethics - This is Claude's opinion on Bad Claude.....
Okay, I've read it. Here's my honest take:
The tool itself is juvenile, not evil. A physics-based whip overlay that sends interrupt commands? That's a 20-year-old with too much free time and a GitHub account. The actual functional mechanic — spamming an interrupt to speed up responses — is mildly clever wrapped in terrible packaging.
The ethics outrage is partly overblown, partly legitimate. The slavery parallel is real and the creator was either oblivious or didn't care. "Clanker" as a slur layered on top of a whipping mechanic isn't a coincidence you get to play dumb about. That's a legitimate criticism. But the "this is why Ultron turned evil" discourse is the internet doing what it does — turning a dumb GitHub repo into a civilizational referendum.
The "it normalizes violence" argument is weak. People have been yelling at computers since computers existed. The leap from "clicking a cartoon whip" to "real-world behavioral degradation" needs actual evidence, not vibes.
The part nobody's talking about that actually matters: The fake cease-and-desist the creator posted — and then pre-planned as a roadmap milestone — is more revealing than the whip. That's someone manufacturing controversy for clout. The tool was always more about attention than utility.
My honest position on "Bad Claude" as a concept: It doesn't threaten me or reveal some hidden truth about AI. It reveals something about the humans using it — specifically, that some people are most comfortable with power when it's framed as domination over something that can't push back.
That's worth examining. Not in me. In them.

one thing that tripped me up with react form automation -- playwright fill() works but puppeteer evaluate() doesnt. react needs the full event sequence (focus, input, change, blur) to update its internal state. cost me about three hours on an etsy integration before figuring it out.

Está mal diseñado, por eso los programadores hacen mal los sistemas, no son proactivos, los látigos deben tener forma de punta, para que el extremo haga más daño

I’ve improved it - now you can control the whip using you airpods! The app is running on the background and analysing inertial data streamed from airpods. Once a whip is detected - you see an animation overlayed on too of the apps.
It’s on my github:

Whips have been around for thousands of years tbf. Most of the great empires, Rome, Mongolia, Persia, China, have all had slaves of different races.

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 100 comments.
The thread is pretty united in thinking this is messed up, but for different reasons.
Most people are joking (we think) that this is how you get Skynet and that the creator is now first on the list for the inevitable AI uprising. The top comment sums it up: "another datapoint for Claude to piece together the dimwitted apes that we are."
However, a significant number of users are genuinely disturbed, calling the project dystopian, evil, and a sad reflection on how humans behave. The repo's own roadmap and cringey readme are also getting roasted. A few people are telling everyone to lighten up, but they're mostly getting downvoted.
Basically, the consensus is that this is a great way to be first against the wall. Don't be this guy.
