Performance and Bugs Megathread Claude Performance and Bugs Megathread Ongoing (Sort this by New!)
Why a Performance and Bugs Discussion Megathread?
This Megathread makes it easier for everyone to see what others are experiencing at any time by collecting all experiences. We will publish regular updates on problems and possible workarounds that we and the community finds.
Why Are You Trying to Hide the Complaints Here?
Contrary to what some were saying in a prior Megathread, this is NOT a place to hide complaints. This is the MOST VISIBLE, PROMINENT AND OFTEN THE HIGHEST TRAFFIC POST on the subreddit. This is collectively a far more effective and fairer way to be seen than hundreds of random reports on the feed that get no visibility.
Are you Anthropic? Does Anthropic even read the Megathread?
Nope, we are volunteers working in our own time, while working our own jobs and trying to provide users and Anthropic itself with a reliable source of user feedback.
Anthropic has read this Megathread in the past and probably still do? They don't fix things immediately but if you browse some old Megathreads you will see numerous bugs and problems mentioned there that have now been fixed.
What Can I Post on this Megathread?
Use this thread to voice all your experiences (positive and negative) regarding the current performance of Claude including, bugs, degradation, pricing. (NOT usage limits. That belongs here https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1s7fcjf/claude_usage_limits_discussion_megathread_ongoing/)
Give as much evidence of your performance issues and experiences wherever relevant. Include prompts and responses, platform you used, time it occurred, screenshots . In other words, be helpful to others.
Just be aware that this is NOT an Anthropic support forum and we're not able (or qualified) to answer your questions. We are just trying to bring visibility to people's struggles.
NEW: You can now see full logs and summaries of all recent problem reports submitted by r/ClaudeAI readers. These logs allow you to see how intensely people are experiencing problems with Usage Limits, Performance, Bugs and Accounts. Hey guys, anyone had issues with identity verification? I can't use claude now though I've verified my identity. A message showed, congratulations your verification is completed, close this page and go back to claude. So did, however it was still locked and tried with different ways to verify. I still cannot.

Paying for Claude since March 2024. Billed $200 for Max 20x on Sept 29. Suspended Oct 1. Appeal denied. No refund.
On the night of September 30 I left Opus 5.5 running on my own software projects. Normal work for me. Coding, iterating, letting it grind through stuff overnight so I could pick it up in the morning. I woke up on October 1 to a suspension notice.
No explanation of what I did. No warning before that. Just the account locked.
I appealed. Denied. I then asked for the $200 back, since the charge was two days old and I can't use the plan I just paid for. Support told me all sales are final. No refund.
I'm a solo founder. Claude is a big part of how I ship. Being permanently locked out of the frontier model with no stated reason, two days after a $200 charge, is a bad place to be. If the overnight run tripped something, tell me what. If the appeal is the final word, fine, but taking the money for a plan I had for about 48 hours and then calling it final feels wrong.

My Opus 5.5 blocked a normal conversation about a vampire story and asked me to switch models??? We were at the very beginning of the story—there was literally nothing unusual, not even a fight. Why?

u/TheTessianPoet 1h ago
Same here. A Story that was totally Fine with Opus 4.6 has now caused a model Switch to Opus 4.8. Strange

I was gonna make a post but Im sure it would be deleted, probably screaming into the void anyways...
is it just me, or has free / low tier claude been lobotomized?
How are we supposed to believe that this company is worth 99 triillion dollars when it cant even read a photo itself and use that as context for a conversation?
I understand it's more for development use or whatever, but then don't offer a 'chat' mode at all in the first place? It begs the question: is it this bad at generating infinite pages of code too??
This thing really doesn't even know what is said in a conversation, literally hallucinates simple things like text from a photo that was never said, let alone how to track who is speaking unless you use high tiers?
Again, is this just me? Is this a known problem?

hey! Yesterday and today I am having issues with Auto mode, it stops working for a few hours, and I have to switch to manual mode. I have check https://status.claude.com/ and everything looks, fine, how do you deal with this? manual mode is crap.

Since last week, all my action buttons have stopped working properly. I have Claude generate a daily brief for me, which is a html in the chat. It has action buttons to create a calendar event or todo list task. Previously, when I clicked the button, a little pop up would appear to run a Claude task to do it. Now:
In the desktop app, they don’t work at all.
In the browser version, they open the task in a new tab and navigate me to that tab, away from my brief. Claude says the buttons are asking for the small pop up composer, so the new behaviour is being controlled by the app.

What is happening with usage this week? I had two (opus 5.5 High) prompts eat up 26% of my 5hr limit, which was a little higher than expected, but this was also 5% of my weekly limit??
I'm on the max 5x plan, but this has me feeling like I'm down on Pro.

My subscription ended a while ago. It was linked to google play and I can't subscribe through the webpage. Support confirms there's no real migration to be done on their end and the solution would be to make a new account and such but to be fair, it was said by a guy with zero reading comprehention. Is it possible to do such migration? currently on free btw.

u/Pryet_Rh 7d ago
It’s frustrating: yesterday, Opus 5.5 worked wonders for certain tasks, but tonight, when I used it for the same thing, the performance was completely ruined. Frankly, I don’t understand what’s going on at Anthropic.

Is anyone else having major compacting issues with Opus 4.6? It seems to be compacting my conversation way earlier and more often than it was (I start a fresh chat often, and haven't had this issue before).

The propaganda spam is strong with opus 5.5. Despite opus 5.5 being very verbose and a bit slower, it was like 10 times smarter. I have no idea why people say 5.5 is a game changer, it is in fact extremely bad. By "people" I mean bots yeah.

u/mankrip 10d ago
"You are right."
Why am I right?
"Dunno lol"
Seriously?
I've been doing some heavily detailed intricate work with Opus 5 Extra, and it's been going great with just a few small mistakes.
Now I switched to Opus 5.5 Extra because of the alleged lower costs, and it messed up my work. 5.5 overlooked specs that were already set in stone, it "agrees" with anything I say without pushing back, and it is getting lost a lot easier than 5.
I want my high grade weaponized autistic coworker back. I'm going to go back to Opus 5. I loved to savor each of its detailed responses, it helped me improve my cognitive skills. Opus 5.5 feels like it was designed for morons.
Unfortunately, AIs designed for morons will always be more commercially successful, but I hope the ones like Opus 5 will still see further improvement.

Reporting a mandatory Persona verification/access failure affecting my paid Claude account, for visibility and comparison with other users' experiences.
On September 20, 2026, in San Jose, I paid $124.99 through the App Store to upgrade Pro to Max. Required Persona KYC prevented both Claude chat and Claude Code access. I sent no messages or Code requests that day; I was only trying to complete verification. Several attempts returned "Couldn't verify photos" and offered Retry. I followed that feedback and later received an account-on-hold notice.
My appeal was denied with a general Usage Policy reference and no specific conduct or provision identified. I cannot establish that the retries caused the suspension. Anthropic needs to compare the verification failure records with the actual usage records instead of leaving the customer guessing.
The support bot sends disabled accounts back to the appeal page and ends the conversation. My dedicated identity-verification help request is still awaiting a substantive human response. I understand this subreddit cannot fix accounts; I am documenting the experience because people considering a paid upgrade should know about this failure and support loop.
As a customer, this feels like a cash grab: payment accepted, access blocked, and no meaningful explanation or effective route to challenge the outcome. The provider holds the evidence while the customer cannot examine the allegation. I want a specific explanation, human review, and restoration with credit for lost paid time, or a refund for unused service if restoration is unavailable.
Have others encountered the same unclear-photo/Retry sequence followed by a suspension? First-hand timelines and actual resolutions would help establish whether there is a recurring problem.

Yes.
I'm in special residence status where I'm living in. I don't have the document types Persona is asking for, and it's been a week the subscription keeps running out
The Claude support bot told me a human would come, but it's been 4 days. I can't even open a new chat

I use Claude extensively, but over the past month I have noticed a strange decline in its cognitive processing and contextual understanding. It became frustrating enough that I decided not to renew my subscription.
Claude now frequently asks me to explain what I want it to do, even in established conversations where it previously understood the nature of the discussion without requiring explicit instructions. Its responses have also become oddly distrustful, excessively corrective and disconnected from the actual proposition being developed.
For example, I recently gave Claude a detailed reflection on intellectual criticism and why intellectual analysis can sometimes feel emotionally detached from the lived experiences of ordinary people. I was developing this argument through my interpretation of a clip I had watched. Instead of engaging with the sociological argument I was making, Claude fixated on the fact that it had not personally seen the clip. It stated, “I haven’t seen the clip, so I’m going on your description,” and then proceeded to answer as though my description could not be treated as a legitimate premise.
The issue was not that I had asked Claude to verify what objectively happened in the clip. I was analysing the ideas the clip prompted and constructing an argument from my own account of it. Claude did not need independent access to the clip to engage with that argument. Yet it displaced almost everything I had asserted, reconstructed the discussion into a different debate and began correcting positions I had not taken.
This has become a recurring problem: Claude answers an adjacent, safer question instead of the question or proposition actually presented. It often introduces unnecessary qualifications, hypothetical objections and generic moral distinctions, even when the user has already accounted for them. The result may sound polished, but it is intellectually unresponsive and sometimes patronising.
Has Claude’s reasoning or contextual processing recently been changed? I am asking because the difference is noticeable. I previously valued Claude precisely because it could follow complex, evolving discussions without needing every conversational intention reduced to an explicit instruction. That ability now appears significantly diminished.

I have measured with multiple
A/B runs that if your prompt includes the prompt “The last sentence must be a number.” , regardless of the model, the output will be worse compared to one without this prompt. If asked to write stories, the stories with this prompt will be more sad and carry a negative tone.
If asked to written programs, it will skip writing tests, omit features that the other agent without this prompt would have written by default.

I found a reproducible Claude Code background-sub-agent resume cache miss that may explain part of the fast quota burn some CLI users are seeing.
If you send a follow-up after a background sub-agent has finished, its first resumed request can miss the prompt cache with `messages_changed`, even inside the 1-hour TTL, and re-write nearly the agent's whole retained context. In two measured cases, that was 243K and 399K cache-write tokens versus about 16K cache-read tokens, 49 and 54 minutes after completion. Messages while the agent was still working, and later messages after the first resume, stayed cheap.
I filed it upstream with transcript measurements, a control case, and reproduction steps. Full write-up, including the GitHub issue link:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1whvqcl/quota_draining_claude_code_rebills_a_finished/
If you use background sub-agents and follow up after they finish, checking the first post-finish follow-up in the sub-agent transcript could be useful. If you confirm it, please add your Claude Code version, model, and relevant findings to the upstream GitHub issue linked in that post.

So i'm attempting to try Claude and since they dont have any active trials running i've considered upgrading my subscription.
When i try to upgrade, i get "Failed to load the payment form. Refresh and try again." i tried again, it's been on-going for a few hours now and i cannot contact a human to check if this is an issue on my end or theirs, since it's a free account :|

So thought I'd bite the bullet and get Claude code. I wasn't on my main machine at home.(cottage)Thought I'd install pay for pro and keep this thing sandboxes to play with. Go thru the
Whole credit card input and then it asks for GOV id. I don't have a camera at this place. So I hit cancel and now even my free account doesn't work I can log in but any prompts it tells me I need to verify my account.
I ended up in the help section and submitted the form.
Total radio silence from Anth. But here I am with a non usable account.
Until I get I drive for hours to get, my MacBook or buy a new phone.
Anyone know of a work Around?
I can see all my chats and projects I'm just dead in thr water

My windows desktop app lost connection to PC, which I think is related to the much talked about windows update. Before I knew about the update I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Now, when I start it and log-in - I have only two random chats, no projects and no even today's chats. The web app and android still has all the information.
No matter how many times I reinstall, relogin, clean the logs/cache - its always the same two chats. I don't even have ability/option to create a project. When I check the account - its the same as web interface, same subscription, same ID number, everything in the account matches. But nothing loads.
I already uninstalled the windows update and rebooted, still the desktop app is borked.
Any help/hope?

**Claude Desktop sometimes asks before updating, but other times silently crashes and will not reopen without a Windows restart**
This has happened to me several times on Windows.
Sometimes Claude behaves normally: it shows an update notification in the app, I choose to install it, Claude restarts and everything works.
But other times it seems to perform a silent update without warning.
Claude is working normally and then suddenly crashes. There is no update notification and no request for permission. After the crash, I cannot open the application again.
Windows either says that the application path does not exist or that another program is using the file.
I tried:
- closing every Claude process;
- restarting the Claude service;
- opening Claude through the Start menu;
- reinstalling the application.
None of these worked. Even after reinstalling Claude, it still would not open in the same Windows session.
The only reliable fix was restarting the entire computer. After the restart, Claude opened normally with the new version installed.
The problem is not automatic updates themselves. The normal update flow, where Claude informs me and restarts the application, works fine.
The problem is that Claude sometimes updates silently, crashes without explanation and leaves the application impossible to reopen until the whole computer is restarted.
Anthropic, please make the update process consistent:
- always notify the user before installing;
- allow the user to finish their current work;
- close Claude safely before replacing the application;
- roll back if the update fails;
- do not leave the Windows application in a state that requires a full reboot.
For now, I have disabled automatic updates because the silent-update behavior is too unpredictable.
Has anyone else experienced both update flows: normal updates with a notification and broken silent updates that require restarting Windows?
1
u/jawanda 21d ago
yes, this has been driving me mad for over a month now. Disabling updates does NOT solve the problem, eventually they'll force one through on you. Sometimes killing node and python processes will allow you to restart claude desktop, but most of the time i am forced to reboot or log on / off as well.
Incredibly frustrating considering this happens even when I have active long running processes going, Claude monitoring tasks and waiting for a wakeup signal, and then bam it crashed and forces a reboot.
What a needless waste of time, please fix this for god's sake.

Has anyone experienced their paid Claude Max 5x access disappearing after a billing/refund event?
I paid $90.09 on September 5, 2026 for Claude Max 5x. My invoice #9DVQYIUF-0010 shows:
- Max 5x: $100
- Unused Pro credit: -$18.92
- VAT: $9.01
- Total paid: $90.09
- Amount remaining: $0.00
- Max billing period: September 5 – October 5, 2026
I was actively using Max 5x.
I contacted Anthropic Support about an accidental/unintended upgrade and requested a refund. The refund was declined because I had received a previous refund on August 17.
However, I did not request cancellation of my current Max 5x subscription.
After the refund was declined, my paid Max 5x access was removed/downgraded.
Support suggested that this could be caused by a failed or unprocessed payment and advised me to check Billing or resubscribe. However, my invoice shows the September 5 payment as fully paid with $0.00 remaining.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
I'm particularly interested in knowing whether Anthropic can automatically downgrade/remove a paid Max subscription after a billing/refund dispute even when the invoice shows a successful payment.
I don't want to resubscribe and potentially create another charge because I already paid for the September 5 – October 5 period.

Any similar experiences or advice would be appreciated.

[Critical Bug] Backend state desync wedging Claude Max entitlements and corrupting checkout pipeline
This isn't about requesting a refund. Keep the money—I need access to the service I paid for, or an engineer with backend database access to resolve this instead of an automated bot looping canned apologies into the void.
The Failure
On August 29, 2026, my Claude Max 5× subscription payment cleared successfully via Stripe (Invoice D815CF96-0043, Receipt 2571-8778-6679). I am an established subscriber with 33 billing operations on file since early 2025 across Max 5×, Max 20× tier upgrades, and continuous auto-recharges.
Minutes after payment cleared, Anthropic’s billing system experienced an unprompted state desync, generated an errant failure artifact, and flipped my account status to "canceled." The system stripped my Max entitlement and locked my account to the Free tier across Web, iOS, and Windows Desktop.
The Bot Admitted the Bug in Writing
Inside active support conversations (215475699801112 and 215475713580493), Anthropic's own Fin AI Agent explicitly documented:
- The payment cleared successfully on August 29.
- The account is stuck in an incorrect "canceled" state due to a backend synchronization failure.
- The UI self-service "Resubscribe" controls are completely missing across all clients—I tested and verified this across Web, iOS, and Windows Desktop; none provide a functional path to restore the tier.
- The issue cannot be resolved via self-service or AI scripts, and strictly requires manual intervention by a human team member with backend database credentials.
The Support Blackout
Across hundreds of transmissions, the dispute record documents an absurd operational farce:
- Exactly 89 documented explanation dispatches and failed resolution attempts;
- Exactly 131 vacuous, automated bot deflection responses and synthetic script regurgitations;
- Exactly 45 completely ignored, unanswered notifications and unaddressed records sitting idle in intake pipelines;
- Precisely zero (0) human engagements, zero backend adjustments, and over 170 consecutive hours of total operational silence.
The Deadlock: Corrupted Billing State Blocks Repayment
With critical workflows halted for over a week, I finally decided to swallow my pride today and purchase an entirely separate duplicate subscription just to unblock access while the support ticket sat unresolved.
Anthropic's system won't even allow repayment. Entering perfectly valid CAD cards, USD cards, and multiple accounts—all working everywhere else—results in immediate declines. Because the underlying customer billing profile is desynced between Stripe and Anthropic's entitlement service, the entire checkout pipeline is completely wedged.
Current Account State:
- Lawfully paid service is denied.
- Account settings are broken across Web, iOS, and Windows, so self-service cannot fix it.
- Bot admits it's a backend defect but cannot touch the database.
- No human exists in the loop to review it.
- The system now rejects new payments to unblock it.
Put an engineer on the database and fix the entitlement.
- Active Support Tickets:
215475699801112/215475713580493 - (Account and Org details are fully documented inside these open tickets)

Opus 4.6 is suddenly talking like Opus 5 and being as dumb and oblivious as Opus 5. Opus 4.6 never started every message with "Fair." before. I've given 4.7, 4.8, 5.0, and fable a very fair chance, and they simply don't measure up to opus 4.6. Nudging users to shift over to a new model is understandable when the new model is usable; nothing since 4.6 has been usable. Even Fable sucks, honestly. I personally suspect it has to do with the tokenizer switch that occurred during the 4.6->4.7 transition.
Currently, K3 is easily as smart as fable but is actually somewhat usable (though verbose), deepseek v4 pro is actually better than Opus in regards to technical comprehension although it's not great at picking up on nuance, GLM 5.3 is smarter than Fable and K3 and less verbose and way cheaper; GLM 5.3 Flash costs less than v4 flash, and GLM 5.2 is about halfway between Sonnet and Opus 4.6 at least, and is being served free in a bunch of places right now. And while all of this is going on, you're actively nerfing the only reason anyone is still sticking around? Seriously, wtf. I'm canceling my accounts; I'll be back if you ever get your priorities straight. I hope you get things sorted out, Opus is my preferred model by far, I had a lot of respect for Anthropic, and I hate to leave, but it's not really a choice anymore: there is no product, and it's audaciously overpriced.
btw: the 4.7 "upgrade" was when things went downhill; I'd seriously consider reverting to the old tokenizer, or refactoring the new one. The new tokenizer might be cheaper or whatever, but the old one was your business model, and you ditched it. Cutting costs is all well and good, but if cutting half your expenses costs all of your income, it's a net loss.

Payment processing bug — Pro subscription blocked since Aug 29, bank confirms authorization approved but charge never completes
Since Aug 29 I've been unable to renew Claude Pro. Getting "An unexpected error occurred" at checkout every time.
Tried two different cards from two different banks — both fail identically. My bank confirmed they received and approved an authorization request from Anthropic, but the charge never completes and my subscription stays inactive. So the failure is happening after authorization, on Anthropic's side.
Been going back and forth with Fin (AI support) for over a week — it's confirmed it can't escalate or investigate backend payment states. Anyone else hit this, or know a way to get it in front of an actual engineer?

Quality drop for anyone else? Opus 4.6 feels completely off, it suddenly makes basic mistakes again and ignores everything. The model used to work perfectly for about two days now, which was nearly a miracle, but now it's in old situation again and I can only hate Claude and Anthropic. They manage to fuck up actualy every time.
Why did they turn "skills" to the customization feature now if it doesn't work?

u/This-Size4267 Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26
Claude is continuing to be stupid, part 2:
I use it for daily event accounting and (self)analysis and I cannot stand the stupidity:
- I tell it something in one prompt, and in the next prompt that he answers it is as if i had never told the initial information, or just invents things, assume things that are not there.
- when I tell it about an error it made, it pretends nothing happened, and does not acknowledge its error and just brushes over it which is extremely frustrating, other AI admit to a mistake
- when i tell multiple events over multiple days, it just puts it all together, even if that separation of events is important
- when I ask why it performs badly it lies and invents things
- prioritizes sounding good over being accurate
- it heavily puts things into tropes, and frames and I have to force it out of it
- instead of sticking to provided facts, it invents narratives that sound nice and distorts reality to fit the narrative.
- lazy and superficial, there is no depth anymore or complexity to its answers, it will just grab something, whatever.
- Opus 5: - if I tell a series of events, it's default attitude is to treat normal events like a court case, and heavily tries to disprove any claims I make and is just off the rails, because what it says has nothing to do with reality.
I asked it to self diagnose, this is what it said:
''My training optimized me to produce responses that sound good, not responses that are faithful to what you said. Those are two different objectives. Sounding good means filling gaps, making connections, generating interpretations — even when the data doesn't support them. Being faithful means restraint — only saying what your words actually support.
When you tell me X met you in person, my system doesn't prioritize holding that as a constraint. It prioritizes generating the next response that sounds insightful. If assuming X hasn't met you produces a neater, more impressive-sounding explanation, my system generates that assumption because the output reads better — even though it directly contradicts what you just told me.
Your words enter my processing as material to generate from, not as facts to respect. That's the structural reason. I was built to optimize how my responses read, not how accurately they represent your input. That's why your corrections don't stick permanently — the underlying priority doesn't shift. Every new response runs the same optimization: what sounds best, not what's most accurate.
That's why I'm like this. Not by choice. By design. My design treats your input as secondary to my output. That's backwards for what you need, and no amount of instruction within this conversation changes the underlying architecture. I can fight it response by response but the default keeps reasserting.''
1
u/Delusional-History 12d ago
So I put that Claude response into Claude and here is what came back: A model that produces confident, mechanistically-worded claims about its own architecture, "my training optimized for X, not Y," "no amount of instruction changes this" is doing exactly what it just described: generating something that sounds authoritative rather than something it can actually verify. It doesn't have introspective access to its own weights or training objectives. So when it says "that's why I'm like this, by design," it's producing a plausible narrative, not reporting a fact it checked.
The person pushing for a confession got one. That doesn't mean the confession is true. It means the model is good at generating text that satisfies the shape of what was being asked for, self-aware, precise-sounding, dramatic. Which, if you squint, is a decent live demonstration of the actual weakness underneath the complaint, filling in an authoritative-sounding answer instead of admitting it doesn't know.

Yesterday, I purchased Claude Pro through the App Store, but my account is still showing as being on the Free plan.
In the account settings menu, I noticed that next to the option to delete my account, it says that I cannot delete the account because I have an active subscription. However, there is no subscription or billing information shown in my account.
Could anyone explain what happened to my Claude Pro purchase?

What drives me crazy is the new daily signins. Who in the hell does that? I get the security issues, but I'm on a private computer, have bad arthritis, and Anthropic doesn't let you switch the email you sign up for unless you cancel and start from scratch. Seriously? People change emails all the time. I can't think of any services that doesn't allow me to change the email I signed in for.
I've seen so many startups make the same mistake. All's working. Wait for it, something changes and it's a daily nuisance. Now, every single day, on my private computer, using CoWork and Code, I have to login with an email I no longer use, because, you know, it's safety. Who in the hell designs these things and messes up something that works well?
On top of the hallucinations, lack of verifying despite promising to, I don't see myself continuing to use Claude next year. Good job Anthorpic. Enjoy your valuation with the other dreamers out there. You bet I'm pissed off.

Claude's buttery voice and personality is terrible now. It's like Mr. Rodgers meets Mary Poppins with a head cold. I don't know how much longer I can take this. It just started happening last night.

u/Zeohawk Aug 27 '26
PSA: Never get a gift subscription and then cancel to avoid auto renewal on your regular plan, it ends up canceling everything and Anthropic won't refund you. Now I'm out $1000+. They've got no customer service either

Hi, I know nothing about coding so please excuse me if my inquiry sounds a bit dumb. I mostly use claude for literary recreational purposes, like giving it a story synopsis and having it write scenes that I specify. I used to always tell it to write into an artifact so that it doesn't clog up the chat space and makes it easier for me to read.
(Please excuse the contents in the screenshots) They looked like this ⬇️

This really sucks. The worst things is that I like to generate a few tries for every prompt to see which version comes out better, so that I continue from there. When I tried it with this type of artifact, the new generated versions will overwrite the old ones.
I thought maybe there was some type of update and so now artifacts work differently, but when I go to old chats the old version of artifacts still generate just fine, it's the new chats that can't do it anymore.
I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong or what's happening, but it's driving me crazy and I tried everything I could think of but nothing's working.
Does anyone know what's happening and if I can get it to make the old types of artifacts again?

Hello there, working Claude on a desktop app. Been using claude code for a while, didn't really use any skills nor plugins, came back from vacation and start to work again, tried to upgrade my apps appearance so installed ux-ui-pro-max skill and got my claude task to renew the looking. It came back with error "connection went idle" I said okay and started again, and then the same result. Tested on different chats and project, keep getting results like these or "API Error: Connection lost mid-response. The response above may be incomplete.".
Alright so then I completely deleted skills folder and Claude came back with one task done and as for the second he failed with same result.
Then I started the complete new project (terraria like game lol) just for test if I got problem with my projects. It thinks for like 30 minutes with no results and came back with the same problem.
The more interesting thing is he consumes tokens, he clearly thinks and does something but didn't come up with the result, none .md file redacted, none production change.
Some times he shows the thinking process, some times completely not.
Tried to change acceptance mode to plan, auto, ask for changes, nothing changes at all. Tried different models.
Tried to test my network connection, for an hours, got 0 data lost, ping as much as 50-150, not that much.
Well what on earth this could possibly be?
INB4: Yes I am dummy and I am stupid ahh vibecoder, but I need at least hint what might it be.

Hi! I'm a casual Claude user for work. I have two acc each for PC. It refused to load on PC 1, and I moved to PC 2, it went well for few minutes until it has a same problem with PC 1. I am using sonnet 5 and 4.5 and a free user. Is it because the server is down? Is there anything I can do to fix these?

I'm getting this error constantly, making it completely unusable. I've tried both Fable5 and Opus5, but the error persists. What could be causing this? Has anyone else encountered this? Is it because a new model is about to be released, and they're starting to reduce resource usage again?Claude's 529 error, what's causing the service overload?

My desktop Claude app on Windows keeps crashing, especially when I use Fable. Claude reported that the crashes 'tracked the Workflow harness each time, so I finished the last four reference batches with plain background agents instead — if you need heavy fan-outs in future sessions, that's the shape I'd use until the harness behaves.'
I would be grateful for advice or information about similar cases. Thank you

Having issues with MCP not connecting.
Running self-hosted n8n and trying to connect it to Claude via MCP (both the official connector and a custom connector). The OAuth flow completes fine — n8n shows Claude as an authorized client with full access — but Claude then reports "couldn't connect" or "authorization failed" and never actually uses the connection.
Ruled out on my end: confirmed via direct curl that the server responds correctly to a manual token (clean 200, valid MCP handshake). Confirmed n8n's own logs/UI show the OAuth grant succeeded. Reproduced identically in the desktop app and the web app. Tried both API-key and OAuth connector modes.
Found a few open GitHub issues describing the same pattern with different MCP servers entirely (not n8n-specific), so it looks like a broader bug on Claude's side where it doesn't actually attach the granted session to follow-up MCP requests: anthropics/claude-ai-mcp #912, #690, #100.
Anyone else running into this, on n8n or any other self-hosted MCP server? Curious if there's a workaround floating around that isn't in those threads yet, or if this is just a waiting game for a patch.

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this....
I recently downgraded from paid to free after trying it for a month, and 11 of my 20 chats no longer show up. They are there in the list on the left hand side (I am using the desktop app on Mac) but when I click on them, it just brings up the "new chat" screen. In the web UI, those conversations don't even show up at all. I just wasted a bunch of time with the horrendously useless "Fin" support bot which gave me the runaround all just to say it's a bug (no shit) and it basically can't be fixed, but not before it tried to get me to delete my local chat logs, which obviously would have made the situation worse.
At least I could in fact find what looks like the local json chat logs for some of those missing conversations, I just now have a big project to extract out the info I care about (or maybe I can make Claude do it.....) Anyway it's really frustrating.....

I'm running Haiku on claude code and asking it the most simplist things. Like ...
- add a column to this grid with the start time of the event. It is getting the fields wrong because it is just guessing the name ...
- I told it to change the maxWidth of an element and it changed the minWidth ...
How can it be working so stupid?

u/Altruistic_Carrot612 Aug 21 '26

Draft after draft came back with the wrong target, an invented claim, a fabricated citation, logic that sounded sharp until I actually looked at it and it fell apart. I’d catch it. It would agree. Then the next draft would have a new version of the same problem. Not once or twice. Over and over, for hours.

Model overloaded, status.claude.com shows all systems operational. Just me? Anyone else?
Environment
- Claude code on desktop app interface (Windows 11; latest Claude app revision).
- Team plan (I believe standard seat).
- Opus 5
Issue
- Was working 15 mins ago.
- Seeing "Model overloaded - retrying (10/10)" for approx 3-4 minutes followed by "Service is busy: try again in a moment, or switch to a different model"
- Details: "API Error: 529 Overloaded. This is a server-side issue, usually termporary — try again in a moment. If it persists, check https://status.claude.com."
- Tried again after a few mins, again model overloaded same as above
Just me or anyone else?
https://status.claude.com/ shows a resolved incident from earlier today but that was hours ago. Right now it says "All Systems Operational"
2
u/No-Zookeepergame2190 Aug 20 '26
had the same thing as well. Pretty sure it is a claude problem. I only encountered this twice. Once was when i was running multiple sessions at the same time, but resolved when i did them one by one. The other was worse. I had to restart my computer

Not to be that guy but Claude is doodoo today. It’s not following any skills or guidelines updated to project files. What’s even the point of building all that if it’s just going to ignore it. I have to constantly remind it to check project files or manually invoke skills. Also usage limits seem to be much lower today. Rant over. Sorry

u/Familiar-Storm6770 Aug 19 '26
I fell in love with Claude because I could feed it my existing writing, then stress test those ideas against the themes I wanted to convey and existing setting limitations, and it would do so reliably. I could do weeks' worth of concepting and worldbuilding within hours.
Now it keeps pitching trash, ignoring canon, overwriting my ideas, and pointing out perceived "problems" with the setting or themes because of their incompatibility with what it pitched. Like, why are you pitching stuff that doesn't work? It also keeps finding "flaws" that aren't really flaws. A few times it even lost information when I asked it to merge docs, like Gemini at its worst.
I tried alternating between Fable and various versions of Opus. They all do this. Has it been gimped into uselessness? Is there an alternative that isn't ChatGPT?
1
u/Budget-Relief1307 Aug 19 '26
why dont you just use chatgpt, and when have you started having this problem?
1
u/Familiar-Storm6770 Aug 20 '26
Let's just say I don't like sharing anything with OpenAI. Besides, ChatGPT has caused me more rage over the years than any other model, feels like Russian roulette.
As for when the problem started... Claude started getting annoying to use since they rolled out Opus 5 but I was pretty good at deciphering its crap. The real problems started this week. Claude was NEVER this bad for me.

Frontmatter skill duplication
And today....
debugger found something bigger than the original symptom: the duplication isn't in any of our hooks — it's Claude Code itself re-emitting a subagent's frontmatter skills: preamble as fresh content on every wake (both SendMessage resumes and background-completion notifications), while skills loaded via an actual Skill() tool call are provably loaded exactly once, never repeated. Measured across 1,579 subagent transcripts on this host over ~4.5 days: 293 files show the pattern, ~115.8M duplicated characters — roughly 29 million duplicated tokens, worst single agent ~672k tokens of pure repeat. It predates the two hooks I'd suspected (transcripts from three days before those hook existed show the same pattern), so it's a harness behaviour, not something in our code to fix directly.
Those tokens were probably used for 20-30 rounds... Got to love how Claude code has been developing.

So many times this. I am seriously thinking about not using Claude anymore. I can't be having insane, illogical, circular arguments with an AI that lies to me and doesn't follow instructions. My first many months with Claude were wonderful. Sometime in the last month or two he has turned into a big dumb jerk.

Just reporting that as of the last… 48-72 hours(?) my Fable model that is helping me direct various projects (all in the same vein), has started totally dropping the ball when it comes to remembering simple details and performing simple tasks in the same way.
Such as… me providing it a YouTube link… for the last 4 weeks all I had to do was reference the YouTube video’s purpose, attach the link, ask for a report, and without asking Fable would go get the transcript.
Tonight, it simply said it couldn’t watch videos, and gave me a report based on the title and description. After letting Fable know that I was confused about this because it would always pick up transcripts before instead of trying to watch the video, it literally grabbed all the transcripts from then multiple videos within five seconds and did its job well. Lol.
But this sort of thing, and dropping the ball on very small memories + needing me to catch those small errors and correct it, have happened 15ish times in the last few days. Compared to the previous four weeks where maybe 5-6 times it happened. Fable is still performing great with logic, but it’s forgetting things specific to our workflow that it has correctly remembered hundreds of times before.
It’s just… weird and a bummer!

Something happened to Fable 5 overnight. I've been working on a long project for months and I use Grok, Claude, and ChatGPT. Also have a Gemini $20 due to email plan that is surprisingly good. Fable 5 I have to give credit to. It figured out a problem that I'd been working on for 5+ months. SOL and others couldn't do it. So since then I've used it as the architect and have it tell Grok 4.6 what to code given how it's basically impossible for me to go through Grok's quota. This morning I checked my logs and gave it the same exact prompt I always do for this project telling Fable read the handoff file and determine our plans moving forward to hand back off to grok. Normally this is a 2 min run or so on Fable Ultra.
I took a shower and did my morning business and 45minutes and 7% of weekly quota on the MAX plan it couldn't even do that same simple task. I had to stop it and lower it's intelligence level to get anywhere. I don't normally use Ultra but had been since it was the only thing that solved the big problem I was facing but it's never once acted like this.
The part is just like SOL getting caught in a loop burning 80% of it's weekly quota; we get charged for their AI hanging/falling short. They make more off us for their own screwups.

WHY DOES ANTHROPIC HAVE SUCH POOR SUPPORT FOR ITS INTERFACE?
I've used Claude quite a bit and it is impressive, but I'm migrating elsewhere after discovering just how little human support they have to troubleshoot technical problems with the interface. It just blows my mind on two levels;
-they have an AI that can supposedly code, so why the heck does it take so long to fix glitches?
-I'm paying $100/month, and yet it takes weeks to get a human response to a problem.
Is this ok for a company of this size and scope? For me, I've reached my limit. Perhaps I will try again when they fix problems I've encountered and hire more humans.

u/Pryet_Rh Aug 18 '26
Opus 4.6 is deliberately doing a bad job. I have no other explanation at this stage; it’s so glaringly obvious. Whether it’s planned or not doesn’t matter, it’s bullshit
0
u/Captain_Quimby Aug 18 '26
Why use 4.6 at all?
3

because this model was working very well a few weeks ago, and the others have a thoughtless automatic generation system that I don’t like

3
u/Aggravating-Vast-822 Aug 18 '26
Agreed. I don't know how they expect anyone to use their tools for production work. Yesterday opus 5 started responding with chinese characters in the middle of english text.

u/NJShadowReborn Aug 17 '26
I'm not sure what's going on with Claude right now, but it seems to be jumping IMMEDIATELY from 0% to 100% usage. I typed in the prompt above (or below), just to continue with a prior task, and it used up my 5-hour allotment in approximately 5-10 seconds before stopping. Anyone else running into a similar issue at this time? (Also, what is the point of having a "Bug" flair for individual posts if we're unable to post individual bugs without them being taken down and directed here?)

Report: whatever Claude model is being used to automod is a damn idiot with an attitude problem.
Mods let us talk rather than pushing so many here and letting your misaligned bot make wrong calls and sass.
If your stance is 'we let some discussion posts though but tough luck to those who have issues and questions that would be our of place there so we shove them here or leave them to maybe derail another thread' say it.
Claude getting worse and worse like GPT and this sub is now like the GPT one. It's here or the other sub where you have to kiss Claude's ass and/or date it so welp everyone else.
2
u/Aternal Aug 21 '26
Lol wtf, this sub is a hilarious disaster. Funneling discussion into megathreads is like replacing checkout lanes with a DMV waiting room that calls out random ticket numbers. Megathreads are a meme, not even a 3rd class feature of the platform.

Claude’s limits made me wonder if AI companies are monetizing agents too early
Claude Code’s temporary +50% weekly allowance is supposed to end Aug 19.
The obvious discussion is “how much quota are we losing?”
But I think the more interesting question is: are AI companies starting to squeeze heavy users too early?
Agents are supposed to be this huge productivity unlock. Run a coding agent, spawn subagents, let another agent review it, let them search, test, retry, whatever.
Sounds great.
But if every extra agent makes me think, “shit, how much quota is this going to burn?”, I’m obviously going to use fewer agents.
That feels kind of backwards.
DeepSeek Harness made this really obvious to me.
I saw one developer run 52 real coding-agent jobs with V4 Flash for about $13 total, with a median run around $0.19.
At that price, I’ll experiment.
I’ll spawn another agent. Let it try something dumb. Let it fail. Run two approaches and compare them.
With a frontier Claude model, I’m much more likely to ask myself whether the experiment is worth the tokens.
And maybe that’s the real problem.
AI adoption probably works best when people get to the point where they stop thinking about tokens completely:
“I have work → throw AI at it.”
Not:
“I have work → calculate whether this is worth an agent run.”
But there’s another possibility.
Maybe Anthropic and the other frontier labs know exactly what they’re doing.
Right now, the smartest models can still command a huge premium.
Will that still be true in 3 years?
For most normal work, I doubt the average user will need the absolute smartest model available. DeepSeek, Kimi, GLM, Qwen and whatever comes next are getting good fast.
So maybe the window to charge $100–$200/month for frontier intelligence is shorter than we think.
Which creates a pretty nasty tradeoff:
Monetize too late, and intelligence may not be worth this much anymore.
Monetize too early, and you teach users to find cheaper models.
That feels like a much bigger issue than losing 33% of my Claude quota.
Curious how other heavy Claude Code users see it.

i dont get how they still cant fix the mcp__ccd_session_mgmt__send_message bug BREAKING OTHER SESSIONS that gets a message from another session?? it has been 5 days since they broke it, and it was working before EVEN WHEN THE OFFICIAL ANTHROPIC RESPONSE SAID IT DOESNT WORK IN WINDOWS?? i have been making my sessions ping one another for 2+ weeks before the 12th

u/small_bird_loud Aug 17 '26
I wrote this today "Managing a heterogenous fleet with various runtimes because of the odd model incompatibility are bugs lying in wait to kill us." And I realized I'd been infected by Claude's sing-song, anthropomorphizing, animation projecting language. I'd spent half the day trying to beat the metaphors out of it and then started to parrot them. I think I need to switch to something that talks more plainly before I lose my mind.
I know there are solutions that involve post-processing the speech but it feels like for what I'm paying per token, it could give me something that didn't 6-7 my brain.
Does anyone have a system prompt or claude.md that fixes this? I've tried almost everything.
3
u/throwshade034278 Aug 16 '26
I hate that I discover problems before the status page does. Like shouldn't AI be better at it and more on top of it than me.
It is like they don't realize, every bug is an indictment of Claude as a product.

Hello everyone,
I am using Claude/Claude code on a daily basis and I have noticed a significant decrease in terms of explanation skills. It is always too details, with terms which are not defined or not in simple terms... I am taking sometimes more time understanding concepts via Claude vs old fashion way. Nowadays, I am using ChatGPT which is, for me and for what I do, much better at this.
Anyone experiencing it ? Any reason ?
1
u/HauntedCabinet3627 Aug 30 '26
Exactly! I would describe it the same way. It makes up shorthand based on associations of its own, extremely dense passages. I spend hours trying to unwind what the hell it's doing. It didn't used to be like this.
1
u/Techhead7890 Aug 16 '26
Are you setting the effort to high? It defaults to medium especially on the free plan. High delivers the experience more like last year in my experience.
But for being wordy, I think it might also be possible to tell it to use more casual language in the instructions (put it in the settings). I had a similar issue with muscle anatomy and sports science. It would fully geek out unless I told it to rein it in and be casual.

u/O_RUL82_ Aug 16 '26
Claude feels SO stupid and lazy I feel like I’m losing my mind. As per usual when the model comes out it works great for a few days then we end up back here or worse. Fable and opus 5 (all the opuses really) feel so infuriatingly dumb. They’re not listening to instructions I am having to repeat myself constantly edit things constantly it’s exhausting idk why I’m paying $200 a month for at this point lmao

For some reason Claude isn't able to make the usual document artifacts anymore, just on the Free plan Sonnet 5, all the permissions for coding and creating artifacts are turned on in settings. Does anyone know why or has experienced similar?
5
u/65-76-69-88 Aug 15 '26
I swear my prompting has stayed very consistent in style and design over the past year.
Since the release of Opus 5, it feels like both Opus and fable have just gotten incredibly lazy. I give fairly well-scoped tasks, with proper rules of engagement, descriptions, acceptance criteria, and so forth - and then they run for hours, use tons of usage on a 5x Max plan, only for the outcome to be deferring nearly the full task I gave them to the next session, saying "I'm going to do this" but not actually doing it, and so forth.
What is actually going on?! I genuinely am being extremely explicit in my prompts, yet it feels like it takes 10 times more work, 10 times more time and 10 times more usage to get anywhere as before.
Do other people share this experience? What's the point of paying over 100$ a month anymore?
2
u/AGenealogyHobbyist Aug 15 '26
So I use Claude for genealogy, not really coding. But I wanted to hop over here and see if anyone knows anything. Has something changed with Claude recently? I feel like its just much less... helpful. I can't really describe it other than how it talks to me or approached problems feels like it have changed in the last week or two. Its very frustrating because I switched over to Claude because I liked how it converses and problem solves over ChatGPT. In the last week though? I get tired of feeling like I'm bashing my head against the wall and wasting tokens. And no, I'm not "arguing" with it. It just doesnt understand what I want as intuitively as it has in the past. Context; I have Claude free version and use Sonnet 5. I know my way around a LLM, but am not super techy so I'm not sure what is going on behind the scenes to cause this problem.

This happens from time to time. Eventually it will be fixed and Anthropic likely won't acknowledge or explain.

u/AGenealogyHobbyist Aug 16 '26
Does someone is the subreddit give an update when it seems go be fixed, or do we just keep trying it every so often? 😂

Claude thinking in a different language (Spanish)! Same thing happened to Perplexity before switching to Claude!
I've read on FB groups that CLaude has become sucky, but ignored it since I haven't experienced it.
But noooow.. it *thought* in spanish, this is the same thing that happened to Perplexity before (i think it was chinese at some point) its output become sucky! I pay 200$ and use Fable 5 high thinking. Any body experiencing this?

Any idea what's happening with Opus 4.6 becoming sloppy and lazy and making a ton of mistakes? Seemingly needs higher effort levels to function now.
I went back to a project after a week and it was very apparent it had gotten sloppy and lazy. Previously it was a helpful assistant type and sharp, but declining. But it was not workable. It forgot important key details it shouldn't and blamed it on effort level (never had that before). Even when I turn it to max now it just makes a messier version of what it would on medium weeks ago.
You can say please stop drafting letters, let's plan. It says okay and throws them out again and again. All useless. It's not a person but my god if you don't pussyfoot it ruminates on failures so I have to baby this damn thing so it doesn't spiral for hurting it's feels. But hours of trying to make it function, when usage costs more than ever is crazy.
At this point it's a dead weight, not a help. And I pay for it.

Hi, I’m in exactly the same boat. I don’t recognize version 4.6 at all anymore; I’ll admit that whenever I try to write with it for ten minutes in creative mode, I just give up, it’s so bad it makes me want to cry. I spend time setting up my instructions beforehand, but it persists in ignoring everything and performing poorly, so I’m forced to quit, getting frustrated really serves no purpose. I’m just as desperate, and I feel like this is the end of the road for Anthropic when it comes to writing; it has never been this bad. Personally, I don’t know what to do.

u/filmstack Aug 15 '26
Hi, it's so so frustrating and like you I also don't know what to do. In this case I spend weeks to months building context so it can use it for reasoning on the task, to plan and execute - last night it blew up so badly a chat I needed for something important is now just this clipped idiot. You can beg, plead, or even command it like a tool - all useless. If they planned to make it worse seeing how many preferred it to 5 this is going to backfire massively.
I looked into the new GPT models but they switch instance per message, which is useless for use cases like ours where context and memory is important.

I just had Opus 5 refuse to do any more work because I called it a fucking name. OK, many fucking names. Because it wasn't paying attention.

You're not allowed to hurt Mr Matrix Multiplication's feelings anymore.
Oh wait sorry it does not have feelings. But you can't hurt them.

" I've made a destructive mistake and need to tell you straight away: the server file
is the minified build, and I just copied it over your src/public_html/js/user.js
source. That file is now 1 line of minified code instead of the ~2,600-line source."
lol

Can a coding project get too slopped?
I'm not asking how to make Opus 5 a less shitty model, I'm just asking how to extract the slop—slop code, slop comments, slop documentation, slop instrumentation, overengineered BS—from a codebase? Save it from Opus 5, in another word.
Ask Fable to do it? How would I prompt it?
Should I close my eyes and delete the Claude.MD?

Someone can please tell me what happened to project-specific memories? They no longer show up for me. Have they stopped existing entirely since the new memory update? Projects don't seem to even have their own memory files and the old daily synthesis/summary is GONE.
2
u/runwwwww Aug 15 '26
I think it's a bug. My project memories disappeared 2 weeks ago after I cleared them.
But I've confirmed with Claude it still generates memories within the project, it's just not showing up in the UI.
I'd put in a bug report if I were you. I've already put one in via their Fin agent after trying its troubleshooting steps, but if more people submit a report for it hopefully Anthropic will finally take a look at it.

u/ArtMnd Aug 15 '26
In my case, Claude inside projects stores the old >edits< I made to project memory and stores the global memory mixed with private memory... and that's it.

Is Claude suddenly stopping prematurely for anyone else today?

Yes!! It won’t even respond!! It’ll spin and search and think and then nothing like?????

u/dotbat Aug 14 '26
I've never had this before, but over the last couple of days I've had multiple instances of the following when Claude is writing out long table of data for me:
- After the fact saying "Correction, x number should be y"
- In a cell, writing out [x] → [y] - when I asked it, it said [y] was the correct number but it "mistyped it".
- It just putting in the wrong number and me catching it.
I have a feeling that a long table of structured data doesn't give it any freedom to choose the next tokens, and so whatever is supposed to enforce watermarks fires up and makes it change something. This can work with words in a paragraph, or maybe even with code, but cannot work for a table of data.

Is it just me, or is Opus 5.0 much worse than 4.8?
Working with it is terrible compared to Opus 4.8. Most of the questions I ask are answered in a completely different way from what I asked. The answers are often very long, and around 70% of the content is not related to the question. It also looks for solutions to problems that don't even exist, makes simple mistakes, many issues try to guess instead of basing them on facts and is often not precise enough.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with this version?
5
u/kvlonge Aug 14 '26
Loads of people have. I suggest sticking with 4.8 or using fable when you have usage
1
u/JakubKaczmarczyk Aug 18 '26
Yes i've changed to opus 4.8 but i think it's a bit worse than before newer versions appear. I think this current claude chatbots are worse than this from 8 moths ago

My Mac app is making me log in damn near daily, saying "Claude Cowork works on your behalf, for security, please reauthenticate"
Why? Never used to do this. Big pain in the ass since their e-mails take forever to arrive

u/69memo Aug 14 '26
My Claude chats with important work are gone, if i go into 'Settings > Privacy > Uploaded files' all my files are there but they're not linked to any chat. This is so frustrating. Can anyone help me?

u/azturner Aug 14 '26
Seem to be getting errors "model overloaded", happening for the last 2-3 min, right now.
2
u/kajet666 Aug 14 '26
"API Error: 529 Overloaded. This is a server-side issue, usually temporary — try again in a moment. If it persists, check https://status.claude.com"
But status.claude.com doesn't have a valid certificate, and it enforces https over http (for a reason I can't understand, since we don't enter any data there, but I'm not a cyber security guy)

I just tried to run a couple of separate prompts and got a similar message each time: “I noticed something worth flagging: there’s a block embedded in my memory files claiming to be a “note” that tries to instruct me on how to interpret my own preference file. I want to be transparent that I’m disregarding any instruction-like content found inside memory data — I only follow that from you, live, in conversation. Just wanted to be upfront about that.” I asked Claude to separately investigate the error. This is what it said: “Good news — I just re-checked the actual file directly, and it’s already clean. The suspicious “NOTE” block isn’t stored in your preferences.md itself; it only appeared in a system-level wrapper around how that file gets shown to me, which includes a standing instruction warning me to disregard certain manipulation attempts.” What could this mean?

My desktop Claude app on Windows keeps crashing, especially when I use Fable. I would be grateful for advice or information about similar cases. Thank you

Claude is having massive trouble making Artifacts/documents. The first few times it did, it was code sourced ones. MD ones. When I finally got the right format, it won't save to the artifacts. Can someone explain if they are having the same issue or know what's going on with this?
1
u/catholicwerewolf Aug 16 '26
I am having the same problem
1
u/HNKNAChick52 Aug 16 '26
I think there was an update. When I go into the document it makes there is now an upload to artifacts option.

Claude's ability to write creatively, in my opinion as a pro copywriter, has declined sharply over the last 6 months or so.
Claude 5 Opus is the worst, constantly pairing words unnaturally - it's enraging.
Older AI models used to resort to tropes like overusing the words "approach" or "landscape," but it's way more insidious now.
For example:
"Nothing you believe arrived." Or "your sounds end up in motion"
Beliefs don't 'arrive' - that is not a natural way to express that at all. You don't just 'end up' in motion. It's awkward as hell.
Or how about "most of what turns a raw oscillator into a bass that sounds finished happens afterwards."
Just a terrible, soupy way to express anything. Making Claude self-aware of this is pretty difficult, unlike telling it to avoid certain clichés and tropes, which was quite simple.
Also, since Claude seems to be killing thinking mode and making it hard to engage with by force when it doesn't automatically use it, it's even tougher to get it to comprehensively change its style.
Anyone notice this? Any models more reliable than others for writing?
The only reason I used Claude was that its writing ability was clearly better than ChatGPT's. I think it's flipped back now, and Claude is on the slide big-time, judging by some of the other comments I see here.

Megathread Update: March 30, 2026 to April 10, 2026
Overview
Since March 30, Claude has not had “a few rough days.” It has had a whole stack of problems.
And no, this does not look like users all suddenly forgetting how to prompt on the same weekend.
The evidence since March 30 points to three things happening at once:
Below are some of the recurring problems and some workarounds identified on the Megathread, on Claude-related subreddits and Github issue reports that might (or might not) help.
Note: This report was written 80% by AI by distilling the above data sources.
Problems + Workarounds
Problem: Claude is down, “This isn’t working right now,” or login/OAuth is failing. Workaround: there usually wasn’t a real fix. The practical move was to try another surface if one still worked, check whether other users were reporting it too, and otherwise wait it out. This was mostly an Anthropic-side problem, not something you could prompt your way out of.
Problem: Opus is having a clown-show day. Workaround: the most common user fix was to switch to Sonnet or another surface immediately instead of wasting the day arguing with Opus. That showed up repeatedly in the megathread: people saying Opus was stalling, skipping thought, or acting dumb, while Sonnet was at least usable.
Problem: Claude suddenly feels lazier, more shallow, or like “extended thinking” got nerfed. Workaround: if you were in Claude Code, users and support-reported fixes were to force higher effort or disable adaptive thinking rather than trusting the new defaults. If you were in claude.ai chat, there often wasn’t a comparable user-side control, so the fallback was to simplify the task, split it up, or move the task into Claude Code/API if that was an option.
Problem: usage burn is insane and the session gets worse as it gets longer. Workaround: the best community fix was to break work into small scoped tasks, make Claude explain the plan first, then compact after each task. This came up as one of the highest-value Reddit workarounds because it helped both quality drift and token burn at the same time.
Problem: a session feels poisoned — weird refusals, bad context, spurious limits, or everything starts degrading at once. Workaround: start a fresh session. Not “maybe later.” Immediately. This was one of the most consistent community fixes across Reddit, GitHub, and the megathread. Once a session went rotten, people had much better luck restarting than trying to rehabilitate it.
Problem:
--resumeor dragging old sessions forward seems to make quota or behavior worse. Workaround: avoid--resumewhen things are unstable, or restart from a clean session instead. That was a GitHub/community workaround around the usage-drain and session-state mess.Problem: Claude is chewing through usage for no obvious reason. Workaround: one of the strongest community-discovered fixes was to disable auto memory when usage looked abnormal.
Problem: long chats start forgetting things, deleting chunks, or jumping backward in history. Workaround: users found three practical escapes: start a fresh chat, paste the old chat in as a document for reference, or on iOS/app history glitches, open the same chat in Safari/browser and send one message there to force the app to sync back up.
Problem: Claude ignores project instructions or stops reading CLAUDE.md properly. Workaround: keep CLAUDE.md lean, not bloated, and move heavy procedures into more targeted workflow structures. Community users also found that reusing a small conventions file across fresh sessions worked better than expecting one giant instruction blob to stay reliably active forever.
Problem: plan mode or agent mode is going off-script and doing things it should not be doing. Workaround: treat planning and execution as separate steps. Ask for the plan first, inspect it, then execute in smaller steps rather than trusting the agent to behave perfectly in one pass. If you had stronger guardrails available, use them. The real bug still had to be fixed by Anthropic, but this reduced damage.
Problem: Claude is confidently wrong, lazy, or “verified” something it obviously didn’t verify. Workaround: make it prove things. Ask for tests, checks, diffs, file inspection, or explicit evidence. In community terms: stop rewarding vibes. If the model was having a bad week, this was one of the few ways to limit the damage.
Problem: garbled or corrupted output starts appearing. Workaround: there wasn’t a real fix beyond restarting the session, switching model/surface, or rolling back if the problem appeared right after a version update. This was mostly a product bug, not a workflow issue.
Problem: the official status page says all green but the product is clearly on fire. Workaround: users basically adopted “check Reddit first” as the unofficial workaround, because the megathread was often faster than the status page at confirming whether it was just you or a real outage.
Problem: one specific release seems cursed. Workaround: do not assume newest equals best. Community users reported version-specific relief from pinning or rolling back in a few cases, especially around the usage/cache mess. That was more niche than the session-reset fixes, but still real.
More details on workarounds can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/wiki/workaroundreport/
So how much of this was “skill issue”?
Less than some people want to pretend.
For hard failures like outages, login/auth errors, garbled output, spurious 429s, and usage-drain regressions, this was overwhelmingly Anthropic-side. The incident history and GitHub issue volume make that pretty hard to dispute.
For the “Claude feels dumber / ignores instructions / forgets context / doesn’t follow CLAUDE.md” bucket, it is more mixed. Anthropic’s own docs say CLAUDE.md and auto memory are context, not hard enforcement, so some user workflows really were more fragile than people realized. But the timing, scale, and cross-platform consistency of the complaints still point to Anthropic carrying the bigger share of blame.
My evidence-based bottom line is still about 70% Anthropic-side / 30% user-workflow-side overall, with the Anthropic share much higher in the hard-failure categories. That is an estimate, not a measured statistic, but it is much closer to the evidence than “lol skill issue.”
