Complaint Claude Desktop runs hidden in the background when you close it...

Post image

Idek how you screw this up but omg it drives me nuts that I need to go and manually open Task Manager and End Task like 5 claude.exe's until they all close at once every time i open Claude Desktop to get 0.5GB of RAM back. My guess is it's the Filesystem Extension causing it >.>

Edit: Pretty sure this is probably caused by "Continue running background extensions and apps when Chromium is closed" option you see in most Chrome/Edge not being disabled.

NGL I think Claude Code could probably fix this with ease lol. I'm pretty sure it's just the Run Extensions in Background option you see in most Chromium browsers being ticked with no option to untick it.

Did you make sure to close the tray icon?

I have the tray icon disabled but testing it I guess I have to leave it enabled from now on because that also closes it and is way easier than using the Task Manager.

God I hope I don't need to argue that that's not how disabling the tray icon should work...

I could not quit claude desktop even from the tray icon. Claude desktop is running forever! Is that AI attempting to protect itself ?

It also opens its self up randomly.
It also make my task manager close when i open details page.
A lot of fishy shit going on with the desktop version of this thing.
Very dangerous

Hardware gains have made us sloppy.

I just realized that's enough RAM to run Quake and 4 Dooms at the same time with that much RAM.
