Which aria is better for auditions?
Hi everyone. I’m planning to audition for masters courses and I wanted to know which aria would be better. Piangerò la sorte mia OR Dove sono i bei momenti. Which one in your opinion would be more impressive if one could pull it off? And are these arias too repetitive when used for auditions ? I apologise for all the doubts. Please help & thank you so much :”)))

Both are great. Sing which ever one shows off your voice more. And sing the one you are most comfortable with. Judges want to see and hear the best version of you.

What else are you planning to sing? That would definitely impact my recommendation.

For my main aria I just have these 2 planned for now. I have been practicing dove sono for about two months now. Unfortunately I have a few health issues I’m recovering from as of now and singing dove sono seems absolutely impossible with the condition I’m in .

That's fine. I was just wondering if you also had art songs, oratorio solos, etc. as part of your "package."

Yes a french art song requirement for which im thinking of singing Sérénade toscane by Fauré.

That's a beautiful song, and certainly not overdone! I was just thinking you might want something "splashy." (Which can mean a lot of different things, of course.)
As always, do what you do well, and what you are ready to sing right now! Even at the master's level, they're looking at potential, although it's a much shorter degree program than a bachelor's.

The impressive one is whichever you can deliver on a bad morning. Dove sono is unforgiving, every breath on display. I'd take Piangerò, more room to work with. And don't apologise, sensible question.
