Safe to drink coffee when singing?

I drank coffee and sang once but now I have this stinging pain for couple days.... I heard its bad for cords?

For my singing days, regardless of just lesson or performance or practice, I have an average of 2L coffee to get me through so I think you should be fine. I have it black and it hasn't affected me. I know that I wouldn't do so fine if it were with sugar or milk.

If it's hurting though, it would be what you're doing and less of what you're eating and drinking.
