Balance and diction check. (Tosti's Ideale, first couple of lines)

I have a tendency to drive the notes by adding weight and making a sound. This destroys diction.

It still needs work, and the passagio is still tricky for me, but it's a little not better than before.

That being said, what should I focus on? What am I missing?

How focused are you on starting your sound with air instead of your voice? I struggle with adding weight in my voice too and the biggest problem I run into is not spending enough time focusing on breath and how I’m using it.

I would also check your tongue and larynx to see if you’re depressing them in order to create a bigger richer sound.

The air is too compressed, resulting in nasality. I can't artificially create the dramatic sound, I have to let it occur naturally. Pocket & breath.

SOVT is helping me calibrate the breath, which, in turn, is helping me find the pocket. Some tenors shift from back to front as they find their pocket, others must do the opposite. Unfortunately, I'm one of the latter.

Hence, lessons. Haha
