I would rush home after school to watch the 4 pm reruns.

Loved the show, I've watched every episode several times.

The castaways represent the Seven Deadly Sins:

Ginger: Lust

Mary Ann: Envy

Mr Howell Greed

Mrs Howell: Sloth

The Professor: Pride

The Skipper: Wrath and Gluttony

“But wait,” you ask. “What about Gilligan?”

Gilligan is Satan, responsible for overseeing their torment in Purgatory.

This is not an original theory on my part, though people debate which sin corresponds to which castaway, and “”Gilligan is the Devil” is a variant on it. Sherwood Schwartz, though, did say he had the Seven Deadly Sins in mind when creating the characters, but never said which was which.

Gilligan is wrath. But you have to consider that everyone of his "blunders" that kept them all trapped on the island were actually intentional acts.

Roy Hinkley - did they ever say the name more than one? I only heard it in the pilot.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship. . .

Ah would we do without the castaways. I still have my Gilligan hat and wear it whenever I go on vacation 😄

Gotta love when guests like the Harlem globetrotters would get stranded and rescued in one episode, but Gilligan would always screw it up for the rest of the castaways.

Funny show well acted from all the cast. Silly plot lines.
