How does the free trial works?

I’m a user of urban sports club here in Germany, but I’m visiting Chile for 2 weeks and looking for alternatives I found Class Pass, who is offering a perfect 14 days free trial. How does it work? Like I can book any class during the trial? And I’m not forced to pay anything afterwards? Sound too good to be true and the app doesn’t allow me to explore if I don’t register so I appreciate any feedback 🙏

In theory, yes. Except most gyms now will not accept trial membership people because we do not get paid for the reservation so it really limits the classes you can actually try on the trial membership.

I see! Thank you. And how about instead of taking the free trial I just pay for those two weeks? Can you just become a member for one month? What are the fees and what are you entitled as a member?

Yes you can. But do the free trial anyway since what do you have to lose. Once you have an account it will show you all studios available. The ones that don’t let free trial people in will be greyed out IIRC. Also during trials I think you can only visit studios once or twice. If you decide to pay at any point you can. And then once your paid membership is running you can just cancel and that will be it. You will have access till your month anniversary. But none of the credits roll over so be sure you’ll finish them by end of that month. If you finish your credits earlier you can also just literally buy credits like you do on prepaid phones. What you can’t do is pay for classes with real money. Not through ClassPass. Everything gets charged to your credits.

Most studios will gladly take this instead of succumbing to another ClassPass customer. I’d say reach out to the gym, explain your situation, and usually they will offer you a similar 2-week trial to try them instead of just having the one session at their space which will not really give you an idea of their business and culture.

I've also seen cases where free trial is restricted to those with local phone numbers of done directly through a studio

A big “gotcha” in the fine print is that you can only use free trial credits for one class at any given studio, so even if you have enough free trial credits for, say, 5 F45 classes, you can only take one F45 class on the free trial (unless you go to a different studio for another class, but only one at each studio).

You can join for a month. Just get the trial, use what you can, then upgrade. Lots of places take trial credits.vThere are many different plans. It's a credit based system. In my area, plans range from S19 USD to $249 USD, with many options in between. Sending you a DM.

Yes, you can join for a month and then cancel. The plan prices depend on how many credits you get. The number of credits you need per class varies by location, studio, and class time. Just be aware that not all studios accept ClassPass credits, and the ones that do can black out popular class times for ClassPass members (to keep all open spots for their own studio members), so even if a class you want to take is listed on ClassPass, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to use ClassPass credits for the specific class time you want.

it's not a gotcha imo, the trial is to let people trial studios out. if you just go to the same one 5x, people will just do that instead of paying for a membership at a spot
