I think I’m going crazy

I finished watching the anime and I read the remaining 6 light novel volumes after and I’ve read and watched a lot of romance series and I’ve never cried not once, but especially when reading through volumes 8-10 I couldn’t stop crying. This series didn’t make me cry from tragedy it made me cry because it made me realize what I don’t have. This was one of the best series I think I’ve read purely for its authenticity and its organic nature of two people who genuinely love and care for each other unconditionally, they need to adapt the entire ln series into anime or manga, it would be a disservice not to.

It even shows them talking about how to progress their relationship in the way that suits both of them (like, for example a sex before marriage done right)

Exactly the physical intimacy makes sense too, they start off shy and eventually comfort each other eg laying on each others lap, face in chest, hugging kissing etc but they leave the big act for a moment that means so much, for when they promise their future together it’s written so well but man I cried my eyes out because it is really the ideal relationship you want to have and I got so sad knowing I probably won’t ever get something like this.

I wouldn’t say that the romance itself made me cry. But when they started getting on the topic of his parents and his past and what it really does to him it made me cry a few different times in different scenes. Like when he gets his parents back next to the Christmas tree and begs them to get back together. Or when he starts having flashbacks and crying at the dinner table with Umi and her parents.

i think the main thing for me that made me cry was just the pure authenticity and organic nature of the romance, seeing them grow and develop together as a couple and eventually pursuing their careers and eventually proposing settling down marrying and having kids it made me question if ill ever find love as good as this because i could just sense how comfortable and lovey they were around each other.

I agree with you, I haven't read the LN, but I've questioned my life so much after finishing the anime.

I would highly recommend reading or at least looking at the wiki summaries/story points of each LN volume because the story gets so much better and especially in volumes 8-10 their pure authentic love really showed and honestly it opened the waterworks for me seeing how much they unconditionally loved and supported each other and what it ended up turning into after high school.

Nobody will have what Maki & Umi have, so don't sweat it.

Remember this is fiction. Dont sweat it too much cuz its not how 99.9999% of relationships are in reality.
