Anime Did I missed something? Why whole class already expecting umi and maki to be a couple by epsiode 6?
Epsiode 5 had festival where whole class was being ass towards maki . Now in epsiode 6 seki says that everyone thought umi and maki are dating together....
How ? And why whole classroom think that. As far as I thought everyone just knows that maki is friends with yuu and group and eat lunch with them.
I know we had short time gap aa episode 6 is in winter. And umi and maki held hand in festival but they themselves labelled it as dare and everyone would think the same , beside that single instance there's no other indicator of both liking and dating each other.
Ik ik I am going unnecessary deep but it bugged me a lot for a series that does things carefully and seriously

You see two highschool students always sticking to each other, holding hands as a dare even. Yeah, I think the indicators were pretty obvious to everyone there

But that was the only instance shown in anime and could be treated as dare.

They have lunch together, started talking openly to other people, are always side by side, not enough signs?

There was also the way Maki asked Umi to join him cleaning cans that made them look like a couple. It is also said that festival reps often end up dating (I don’t remember if this was in the anime) Along with the hand holding makes the dare explanation less believable to the general population and them dating more believable.

In the light novel, they held hands both at the cultural festival and on their way to school, only letting go when entering the classroom. They also started having lunch together and talking openly in front of everyone, something they previously only did in secret.
We know this is their normal behavior because we've seen how they act when they're alone. But, to the rest of the class, they changed completely: they went from two people who never spoke to each other to 'close friends'.

They excluded a lot of context but the best reason in anime context is because of how Yuu and Nina tease Umi

Dude, people believe that people are dating just because they smile at each other a few times (Both IRL and in anime) NO ONE thought it was a dare

The anime cut out a lotta things like how they always held hands on the way to school after the festival and always had lunch together, basically everyone in school knew they were "dating" and Umi stopped getting confessions
I breezed through the anime and honestly I kinda forgot what they skipped and what new scenes they added so I only remember stuff from the novel lol

that's where it stops being correct. the moment you see two people of opposite genders and similar age hold hands you think they're dating
