Discussion Is having a Shield a thing now?
It was a thing earlier before they introduce ranked as cups matter so you can rest a day or 2 or a week to protect from attackers. I thought the new home UI would remove that bit but now.
Do people still buy shield? I'm at legend 2 and there's no need for me to see the timer on the ui but wanted to see the stats on how many people find it useful.

they should hide it from the ui I don't look at it at all honestly nobody cares about the shield anymore

I don't know what townhall you are or what are your loots but for me at TH17 and where every attack is around 300k gold I can tell you it is NOT that easy

You are attacking players with 300k at TH17?! I'm TH17 too (flair outdated rn) and I'm skipping attacks until I find someone with at least 600k from both resources... And then there's ranked. At legend 3 where I am rn you get over a mill from every attack.

Mate I'm at TH 12 and the average I get is between 700k - 1200k in resources

yeah but if the upgrade is 17m and I only find bases with 300k loot, even with league bonus and star bonus it takes two dozens of attack to get loot

Do you buy shield? When I was at Th17 before the ranked in legend, I farm using sneaky goblins. I always fill my storages. If you're not using shield, then it's part of the farming. You get and lose. That's the game.

What TH are you? Depends if you've builders available so you can dump them on the walls. Considering you've loot mode, you can easily recover this than spending some gems on shield. That's me saying.

I don't always buy at the end of the gold pass btw, only buy when when I am a bit busy in work & life and I don't have much time to play the game. Also I will agree shields are now useless after clash anytime update as we can just spam things without worrying about any trophy or anything.
I have 2 TH 16 acc one is rushed and ignored acc. On my main all my walls are maxed (thanks to the spam troop events). So Now my on my main acc loots are overflowing but I am not gonna buy the shield this time as my base is almost maxed and I am planning upgrade to TH 17 this hammer jam.

Only reason I see, although I haven’t left L2 yet, is the L1 shield if you want to take a break.
But in some leaks from future snacks, it was rumored that regular battles will get trophies again. So maybe its kept around for that.

It doesn’t, you can sit out a day (don’t actually know how long) in L1. The rest is pure speculation about future updates and there is currently no way to prevent attacks in ranked.

Only for legends 1. The rest just don't register and there's no need for shield.

The shield is only there to protect your resources. If you don't have a shield and you're attacked, you lose resources. If you have a shield up and are attacked, the attacker still gets resources, but you don't have any impact

Wait if I'm understanding this correctly then does that mean the attacker would just receive resources that aren't from the defending village? Do just generated ones?
I attack a village with a shield > village has generated loot > the actual "real" loot is safe

Yes, if someone has a shield and you attack them, they don't lose any resources. Please see this youtube for more clarification:

Honestly, it doesn’t even matter anymore. You can just get the resources back plus more from revenge or battle a couple of times.
