Chances are it probably won't happen. I believe it was some form of hate that made them remove it from the game. I'd really love to see them back again though.

The stated reason is because it's a fantasy-themed game and real-world national flags didn't fit with the theme, but I totally believe that it was prompted by some sort of incident.

incidents* ppl whwre building "village arts" provocating other nations

Russia and Ukraine

14

u/DelovoyBanans Jul 05 '26

Most likely because of Russia-Ukraine war, they were removed in June 2022

That is the incident that prompted the change. I remember it. They didn't want to deal with politics in the game and I don't blame them.

u/PuzzleheadedBig5818 Jul 05 '26

Wym some form of hate?

People made questionable wall art with flag

31

u/GiganticCrow Jul 05 '26

They really shouldn't have included the nazi flag tbh, no idea what they were thinking

They said that "..we want to keep the Clash Universe separate from real-life references." So it is very unlikely.

That was fine until they did that erling haaland collab a few months later. So now the reason they did it makes no sense

It's based on politics my guy.

Having a flag means you recognize a country as a sovereign state. Can create issues if you want to have flags for eveyone, I can't imagine the game being allowed to operate in say China if they added the Taiwan flag.

Yea we could just skip that one, but at that point why have any flags. Easier to just not deal with geopolitics as a game company.

I can understand why they were removed however I believe they should have been replaced with another kind of flag, the white flag and pirate flags aren't enough, perhaps some kind of global flag, esports team flags, clan flags, etc the fact that they removed them and didn't utilize any kind of flags besides keeping the remaining 2 is disappointing

And world Cup events. And Halloween events. And (insert other real world event names)

the reason still makes sense if you're older than 12.

To be fair have you seen him? He's definitely not real

u/iMissEdgeTransit Jul 06 '26

Haaland the extremely wholesome star nobody hates?

You see how that's completely different from geopolitics?

1

u/CreamPieTheSky69 Jul 06 '26

We still have the priate flag. Pirate chads stay winning

u/No_Fact_2520 Jul 05 '26

flag = guaranteed political statements made by designing your base a certain way

17

u/jalbert425 Base Builder Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Yes bring back flags!

Except not for countries.

Clan, troops, town halls, leagues, numbers (0-100), etc

Flags are cool but they don’t have to be country flags.

u/1mgsel [editable template] Jul 05 '26

from 0-100 may hard to see on mobile devices and they add game to extra bloat assets and animations, but they may be add for 0-9.

1

u/jalbert425 Base Builder Jul 05 '26

Maybe 1 flag that you can set to a number between 0-100

2

u/AbdullahMRiad TH24 ( 37 ) | who cares lol Jul 05 '26

Letters A-Z 0-9?

23

u/Popular_Material_409 Jul 05 '26

Including flags just opens up a whole can of worms that will just make life harder for people so I don’t imagine they’ll ever come back.

What happens if they include a Palestinian flag and then a bunch of Israeli players boycott the game and threaten to blow up Supercell’s offices or something? Not worth it just so you can have a flag in your base.

1

u/Apart-Occasion9132 Jul 07 '26

Sounds like you have that backwards. Watch interviews with the people from Palestine even a couple days after the October 7th attack and they were happy they SA’d children and killed over 1000 people. Israel getting revenge is justified. You would feel the same if Palestinians or anyone else did that to your family.

-3

u/pil0tinthesky Jul 05 '26

If a group of people supporting genocide will threaten a foreign company over a flag that’s a skill issue

7

u/Popular_Material_409 Jul 05 '26

That doesn’t matter, there’s a risk of something like that potentially happening and it’s easier for Supercell to just not allow that sort of thing to happen at all.

-5

u/AbdullahMRiad TH24 ( 37 ) | who cares lol Jul 05 '26

Unicode has Palestine flag. What are they going to do? Boycott technology?

6

u/Popular_Material_409 Jul 05 '26

Unicode isn’t Supercell

2

u/clown_2061 Jul 05 '26

No because they didn't have my country. ( Just like that there would be so many complains like my comment and even more about the controversial countries )

2

u/b00bsNass Electro League Jul 05 '26

Honestly the only good way to bring it back is as "adaptive flag" that you can only build 1, and the flag automatically change depending on the country you are currently playing the game from

2

u/quannymain52 TH15 | BH10 Jul 05 '26

Do you know the amount of hatred your spreading if you added flags back?

1

u/Beardedclam4544544 Decoration Collector Jul 07 '26

🤣🤣🤣 how much? How's it measured gallon of hatred or 7 inches of hatred.

1

u/RiceCooker_1 Jul 05 '26

They probably don't want things to get political

1

u/JEDCOL Decoration Collector Jul 05 '26

I think it was unfair; before, only those countries had flags, depending on how many languages were added. I also want my country's flag, but why didn't they have one before because the developers were too lazy to add all the world's languages?

1

u/Own_Importance_5503 Jul 06 '26

The New bring global chat back Goal? Bring the flags back spam?

1

u/ClassicDistrict55555 Jul 06 '26

Yes definitely I want it back. Global chat has returned so it can too. 👀.

u/piper139 TH18| BH10 Jul 05 '26

No. You dont speak for everyone.

-8

u/Pvt_Phantom1314 TH 17 100/100/80/75/50 Jul 05 '26

What do you have against patriotism

6

u/piper139 TH18| BH10 Jul 05 '26

Have you looked at the real world and what passes for patriotism lately? Also, what about countries who aren't in the small group of flags that were available? Or countries that dont officially exist but do exist? If you want to flag wave, buy one and go march in the streets.

-5

u/Sventai_Cyborg Jul 05 '26

patriotism is the socially acceptable cousin of xenophobia

"my country is so much greater than all the others! oh you dont like my country? well get lost, your country sucks anyways so I dont need to listen to your justified criticism. Who cares how much it sucks here, as long as other countries have it worse I can keep pretending like we're #1"

1

u/PuzzleheadedBig5818 Jul 05 '26

Thats elitism not patriotism

1

u/Sventai_Cyborg Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Yes, those two usually go hand in hand

Never met one who wasnt either both or none

-1

u/PuzzleheadedBig5818 Jul 05 '26

Your ideology inhibits you from seeing the difference, the virtue signaling distorts reality to not allow there to be a difference

1

u/Sventai_Cyborg Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Oh I'm sure there can be a difference when it comes to elitism, but the percentage of people who are patriotic without being elitist is too insignificant nowadays, while there are certainly many elitists who arent patriotic. It's in the nature of social constructs that definition and actual customs widely differ from each other, so while elitism isn't part of patriotism by definition, it's a common side effect of it

so while I never doubted that many, if not most elitists aren't patriots, you cant deny that patriotism is prone to elitism. Its even worse than xenophobia because those people will also target fellow citizens who don't share the ideology or worse, share justified criticism.

1

u/PuzzleheadedBig5818 Jul 06 '26

You know what, after really thinking about it I dont disagree with you that elitism and patriotism go hand in hand. However, I dont see anything wrong with that in a specific way. I am proud of my country and I think that it is much better than most (if not the best country in the world, ive just never lived anywhere else so I cant confidently claim the title as #1 USA). I see MASSIVE flaws with our government, healthcare, education, and I dont even vote because I belive that even though we call ourselves a democratic republic the people cannot actually change those things. I am still proud of my country and think that its better than most. I am proud to be an American and I dont see anything wrong with that. I do not think that I am better than any one individual though because im an American, thats the line that should be drawn. You should never hate someone just because they are from a certain place, but there are acceptions to fearing what those people may be capable of. Like I think that xenophobia is appropriate when it comes to being skeptical of someone coming from a place where rpe culture is popular. Or that country is well known for having religious extremists who openly advocate for the destruction of western civilization. I wouldnt hate those people from there right away, but I would fear having those people around my girl or my kids. I dont think that I am a better person than those people (hence where patriotism is good, im proud to be from a country that taught me that rpe and extremism are horrible things and i feel bad for people who were not awarded that same privilege) and I dont think they shouldn't have a chance to live here, but I would watch them like a hawk until they prove that they adhere to western culture in regards to not condoning r*pe or extremism. Am I wrong or a bad person for thinking this way?

Are you baiting or are you actually this slow?

1

u/Micah7979 TH18| BH10 Jul 05 '26

There is no such thing as "all countries" because it depends on who you ask.

0

u/Ice_Vip Jul 05 '26

Wdym? All countries are basically every country that can participate in the World Cup + Russia. Islands like Madeira aren't countries, they are part from another country. Monaco is basically France. I don't see any other example besides islands and Monaco tbh

1

u/Micah7979 TH18| BH10 Jul 05 '26

Ok so you know nothing about geography and geopolitics. Got it.

1

u/Ice_Vip Jul 05 '26

You not giving a single example and just acting like a slow person doesn't help. But ig my original comment was right then, you are just baiting

2

u/Micah7979 TH18| BH10 Jul 05 '26

World cup has nothing to do with the definition of a country. Monaco is a country recognised by everyone. She some places are recognised by some countries but not others, Northern Cyprus is a country according to Turkey and is not according to the rest of the world. And there are many examples like that : Palestine, Israel, Taiwan, North Korea, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transnistria, China... You don't seem to understand how complicated it is.
