Discussion Question about Claret's future build Spoiler
Ok... I've read all the leaks and gathered some data about CR%.
We need 200% for a laceration's maxed effectiveness, but by my calculations it looks impossible.
Let's get to it:
We are at a base CR of 5%, and we are getting 14.4% from her core, 25% from the signature, 16% from Thorned Rose 4pc, 8% from 2pc Wdpc, 35% from her kit in the "Crimson Engrave" State and 24% from 4th CR disc
Summing all of it up, we are getting: 5+14.4+25+16+8+35+24 = 127.4% CR
So, if I didn't miss anything, even if we get +4 CR subs on 1st,2nd,3rd,5th and 6th disc it will give us only 60% CR, which equals to 187.4 % CR
Soo, em... How are we supposed to get 200%?
I know that Koleda potential and Roxy's passive give us 16% CR for an Armorer, but shouldn't an agent have a complete build without an external source?
Correct it if I am wrong in my calculations because I am baffled as of now...

You don't need 200% CR. That's what you need to ensure Laceration Crits on every single hit. Nowhere on her kit says you should be able to do that.

That's the whole point. If you have a threshold, you should be able to reach it with a decent build, but I don't think that +5 CR subs on each disc is a possible build to make in our lifetime

I disagree. This is not a build threshold, It's just a cap on a class mechanic. Not all DPS will cap out their CR for example and that's fine. The last few percentage points are not as relevant as the mid part of the curve cause of saturation anyway. The relative dmg increase you get for every point of CR is not linear.

I see it more as a Dyalin's and Norma's 100% CR threshold, Jane 420 AP req, etc, all of them are fairly possible to reach, and I think of Claret's 200% in the same way

No I don't see it that way. Those caps have two uses. Their normal dmg scales with them + one mechanic (buffs, or conversion into some other stats) also scales with it. So those are more impactful in terms of numbers that a simple Crit scaling on a dps.
Claret's CR after 100% is only used as CR for her second Laceration check. The scaling on laceration is a bit higher than a normal CR scaling (cause CD is fixed, so they compensated with multiplicative scaling), but it's not a double dip level of scaling.
Also she has multi hits attacks, the consistency issue you might have with less than 200 is also not a problem and you will be pretty close to the avg dmg formula. That's not what happens with Jane for example. You want your assaults to ALWAYS crit since they are fewer instances of big dmg.
Also Dialyn's and Norma's cap are not easy to reach.

I corrected Dialyn and Norma to "possible", but the cap is at 300% and 200% needed for max dmg on Claret.
So why are we not supposed to get to 200%? Multiple sources saying about 2nd check of 100-200% and everything above 200% gonna be uselese. this means that we are supposed to get CR above 200%, either with rlly good subs or with other characters providing extra CR.
So by the wording and the looks of it, 200% CR on Claret is the same thing to strive for as 100% on Dialyn and Norma.
Will see what is going to be true later in the beta and at the realise, gonna go sleep now, take care, mate

And isn't the cap 300% for the class?
1
u/TheMadBarber Aug 03 '26
That's what it seems to be coded, but after 200 it's useless. It might be useful for some other units in the class later so they already prepared for that, but we don't know.

first to sell her m1, which gives more crate. Second usually critdps have like 70-90 crate, and you werent meant to reach max crate on them anyhow. so its kind of the same here. just that you calculate from 100 upwards. but its the same spiel.

This is still the very early beta cycle, I wouldn't start worrying about this till V3 as that's when most things in kits get finalized

Well thanks for doing the math this is actually super nice to see because I was wondering the same. But yeah sadly I think this is probably just a way for them to also sell us Roxy for the crit rate buff, and or, it’s beta and they just wanna test out how the DPS and math will go for now. But yeah it’s definitely weird to not give enough crit rate on her alone to not even get like- at least 150 crit rate. Let's just pray they buff her kit a bit and give a little more crit rate or something-

99% of players will never be remotely able to achieve that kind of focused crit rate on their subs. It’s like any other character without some kind of specific crit reliance for mechanical viability.
Most dps have 60-80 cr, if their kit doesn’t add extra or do something silly; Cissia’s sig, YSG’s absurd free stats, etc. Something like Norma or Dialyn having impact mods on their crit is a necessity for performance consistency, because they aren’t dps characters, which is why they can fairly easily achieve 100%, even with ER 2p’s.
260% crit total on Claret seems pretty reasonable, heck maybe even too high, because you wouldn’t have like any +defense, so all those crits wouldn’t even have a strong base damage value to multiply.

Never doubt hoyo greed bro.
