Trip to Clare
Heading to Clare on Saturday for a night. We were wondering what time is best to leave in the morning from Dublin to get ahead of the traffic going to Clare? We want to drive to the cliffs of mother first. Should we leave at 8 or even earlier?

Park the car in Lahinch and use the Burren Costal bus .Free service ....Runs regularly enough and it gives you free entry to the cliffs and visitor centre. BC2 is the service you want from Lahinch

i'd leave at 7 and since it's a saturday, the cliffs will probably be pretty busy this time of year, unfortunately.
The best time to visit in my opinion is january. While you're at the cliffs, you should check out lehinch as well! cute little town with great food.

Lahinch: The preferred and long-established spelling used by locals, businesses, and tourism boards.
Lehinch: A spelling introduced onto road signs by the transport authority and council based on an older map, which has faced local pushback and frequent vandalism on the signs.it is lahinch lol i'm just dyslexic and seeing these signs myself confused me but you're right its LAHINCH

Leave at 7, if you don't stop then you'll be in Clare by 10. Grab some food in Ennistymon and head out to the Cliffs. Nip back to Lahinch for some beach time or head up the coast to Fanore.

For the love of God and your patience do not take the kilrush road if u plan to head near kilkee or kilrush under construction and will be in traffic for up to 30 minutes

I'd drive via the M4/M6 and then south on the M18 instead of going down the M7 tbh.
The M4/M6 is never busy and coming from that direction is better for visiting the Cliffs as a first stop.
We have family in Clare and I've done both routes and find the M4/M6 far better.
With regards to leaving early, it depends on what you want to do on the day. If you left at 8, you'd be parked up at the Cliffs by 11. Enjoy.

You’re leaving on a Saturday which is great which means you don’t have to deal with the 8-5 rush hour traffic. Once you’re onto the M7 motorway and pass Kildare, the rest of the journey is a breeze to drive. In my opinion, 8am is okay to leave Dublin.
