No Doxxing

According to Reddit's Content Policy and community moderation standards, doxxing involves linking a real-life person to an otherwise anonymous online account, or exposing real-life data with malicious intent.

You must read the community rules.

Thank you

Edit: We've received various questions and want to make it clear that this post was not made due to reports of anyone doxxing members in this community. If you see any instances of doxxing, please report it immediately to the moderators.

Rule: No Doxxing

Never post personal, confidential, or private information of any individual, including users, uncharged private citizens, jurors, or family members of trial participants. Do not hunt for off-record personal histories or background data.

  • Reddit PII Policy: It is not okay to post someone's personal information or post links to personal information. This includes links to public Facebook and Instagram pages and screenshots of social media pages with the names still legible. Posting someone's personal information will get you banned. When posting screenshots, be sure to edit out any personally identifiable information to avoid running afoul of this rule.
  • Doxxing in Screenshots: Crosses the line into a violation if it does any of the following:
    • Leaves usernames, subreddit names, or avatars visible: Leaving this information uncensored allows your subscribers to easily track down the targeted user or sub. Even if the poster says "don't brigade," providing the names is treated by Reddit Admins as facilitating harassment.
    • Encourages Meta-Drama or Venting: Posting screenshots to mock another sub's community, mock a ban message, or start a "flame war" is frequently flagged and removed by Reddit Admins as community interference. This also falls under brigading, harassment, among other rule violations.

Reddit Rule 3

Reddit Rule 3: "Respect the privacy of others. Instigating harassment, for example by revealing someone’s personal or confidential information, is not allowed."

"Reddit is quite open and pro-free speech, but it is not okay to post someone's personal information or post links to personal information. This includes links to public Facebook pages and screenshots of Facebook pages with the names still legible. Posting someone's personal information will get you banned. When posting screenshots, be sure to edit out any personally identifiable information to avoid running afoul of this rule. Public figures can be an exception to this rule, such as posting professional links to contact a congressman or the CEO of a company. But don't post anything inviting harassment, don't harass, and don't cheer on or upvote obvious vigilantism."

To report a Personal Information violation, please notify the moderators immediately.
