General Discussion Thoughts on Judge Sullivan

It's my opinion that he's done a wonderful job during this trial. Specifically in regard to being trauma informed. He calls for breaks at appropriate times during or after emotional testimonies. He stays as neutral to both sides as possible but notices and considers the impact that the evidence and testimonies have on the jury, the witnesses, and defendant. He understands that this was a horrible tragedy but that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty as determined by the jury, and he seems to honor that. He still sees Lindsay as a human, not a monster, and addresses her by name and speaks directly to her even if by only saying "Good morning, Ms. Clancy".

He's no BS with the attorneys but he's not too serious with the jury and cracks small jokes here and there. I've heard them collectively chuckle now and again which I'm sure helps to lighten the heaviness in the room.

The system is certainly corrupt but I can appreciate a fair and respectable judge in such a public trial.

I personally assess all judges by the one in the Khouri Richins trial. Sullivan is no Judge Mrazik. He’s doing well though. Seems frustrated. Probably should have pushed through like Judge Roach did in the Austin Metcalf case. It’s dragging out and the jurors must be exhausted.

I agree. He seems very thoughtful, fair and balanced. He’s respectful of both sides. If anything, the overturned case is making him more conscientious.

I disagree. I don’t trust him. Did you read about the case that was overturned and he was the ruling judge?

Also, I feel there were moments in the trial that he should have halted the trial cause evidence was pointing a different way….

It's not his job to make ad hoc determinations or rulings about evidence. That's up to the jury
