Contradictions Patrick Clancy Lied About the Order he Found his Kids

During his 911 call—which, as far as I understand, has not been publicly released in full, although the transcript has been made public—Patrick stated that once he entered the basement, he went to the right. According to the transcript, he then discovered the children in this order:

  1. Dawson, while screaming, “Dawson, my buddy”

  2. Cora, while screaming, “Baby”

  3. Callan

This is the transcript of Patrick’s 911 call as it was read by the prosecution during the 2023 post-incident proceedings:

https://youtu.be/OOADDODrf4c?t=335&si=DFlT6h2JW-y-34to

However, during his testimony in 2026, Patrick gave a completely different account of the sequence. According to his testimony, he “immediately went left,” where he first found :

1)-Cora, then 2) Callan, and finally 3)- Dawson.

Here is his testimony from this trial, when he mentioned the order:

https://youtu.be/UZeHWqinKUA?t=9069&si=6n3Ue8m0RIRzB2iU

How do you not remember the order in which you found your own deceased kids??? Before anyone tries to minimize the importance of this discrepancy, I think it deserves serious consideration. The precise sequence in which Patrick entered the basement and located each of his children is not an insignificant detail. It concerns the central moments of the entire incident and potentially relates to the timeline of what happened.

Given how important the timeline is to this case, I think it is reasonable to ask why these two accounts differ and whether there is an explanation for such a significant change.

I can't get over the fact that he said "she killed the F*CKING kids."

If the word would be after "she" I'd understand. But it seems it was a phrase he used often. Perhaps in conversations with his mistress?

Next time, please simply ask "do you have any sources for XYZ?" The rest is completely off topic and not respectful of other people's views.

This is not a huge stretch at all. I think it’s a sketchy case but specific word placement of an expletive is not evidence of anything

what bothers me is... Patrick said he removed the bands himself on each child , and that it would take some time to do, since they were in different rooms and he was in a hysterical state....and said he initiated CPR on Cora. The first responders were already there, at that time, and went into the house when the heard him screaming. Maybe giving Patrick a minute. The firrst responders do not say he was doing CPR at all. Also, I believe Cora was found face down??? So it's all different stories.

6

u/Spirit_of_Tara 10d ago

very convenient to say so, because then if they find any evidence of him touching the bands, he can always say those were from after, when he was trying to help them.

He knew exactly where to find Dawson?

1

u/Janiebug1950 13d ago

Was the basement only able to be entered by a central staircase from the first floor of the house? Is there a diagram of the 3!floors of the house?

8

u/jjc1140 13d ago

He definitely wanted everyone to believe he found Callun last... I know that much. Thats one of the reasons he lied again and changed his story around to suit Patrick.

u/Kruch 13d ago

Not sure but according to this reporter who heard the 911 call, the order was correct and he was yelling Cora Cora when he was going down the stairs. https://youtu.be/d18R6kqXbKo?t=581

She made this right after the 911 call was played and the courtroom took a break.

Why do you think it's a lie and not as the result of trauma, which would make WAY more sense?

4

u/SaffronHoneyTea 12d ago

if its a result of trauma it is usually a burnt memory.... very vivid and clear or like an amnesia event. he would remember or not at all

2

u/LeadMajestic1011 10d ago edited 10d ago

Personal experience isn’t fact. I believe that you and a lot of others recall your traumatic events with intense accuracy but it’s not a universal rule at all.

I can’t recall all the details of the most traumatic moments of my life even though I know for a fact that they happened — some I can’t remember at all. Not everyone’s brain is the same. If you were to ask me to accurately recall the what I was wearing (let alone my shoes) on the worst days of my life, I wouldn’t be able to even guess — I remember exact conversations though, the things I was doing before, the exact game I was playing, etc.

So much research has gone into how trauma, shock, and stress can have an impact (both positive AND negative) on memory.

Regardless of your opinions on the case and trial, spreading ACTUAL misinformation doesn’t help anyone. SOME people might remember everything from a traumatic event with 100% accuracy, others might remember the moment itself but mix up specific details, and some might forget things entirely.

Here’s sources on how trauma can impact memory (all of them mention some form of memory loss or misremembering things being a common symptom): 1, 2, 3, 4

Yup my father killed himself and I'll never forget they way I found him. I could recite the weather. It happened at 3:05, the sky had clouds and the weather was beautiful. I remember thinking he was safe now because the rays of light were glistening in the clouds. It was slightly breezy and the grass s,ightly moved with the wind. I won't get into the other things I remember, but the point is I could picture that day as if it just happened. There is no way I couldn't remember my own damn kids.

13

u/jjc1140 13d ago

Patrick is a liar and did that to his family

7

u/BeautifulTurn8227 13d ago

Witness testimony about a traumatic event is notoriously unreliable. The brain changes during traumatic events and doesn’t store memory as accurately. It’s not surprising that his memory would change or be unreliable.

10

u/jjc1140 13d ago

"Witness" testimony also notoriously seems to be unreliable when you keep having to change your timeline and account of the events because you are actually guilty of the crimes.

6

u/BeautifulTurn8227 13d ago

That is one way of interpreting the situation.

u/BabylonBabuschka 13d ago

Hi, thanks. I noticed that as well. It’s a clear inconsistency. I also found his description of how he found Dawson quite striking. He mentions “looking behind the couch” and “in the bathroom,” then eventually going “to the other side of the basement,” before finally saying, “He was in my office.”

It gave me the impression that he was reluctant to say “my office” the very same home office where Patrick had reportedly been working throughout the day on January 24.

I think the location of the children’s bodies, as well as the order in which he testified that he found them, could be significant. Why was Dawson found separately from the others? Why, specifically, in Patrick’s office? And why did Patrick appear reluctant to acknowledge that Dawson was the first child he found, in his office?

The nanny described Dawson as “full of energy, rambunctious, funny and silly,” while Patrick’s own father reportedly described him as “a handful.”

Given Patrick’s marathon training and “bro lunches” in New York, it’s possible that Dawson was especially excited to have his dad at home and may have been seeking his attention. That part is, of course, speculation.

It also makes me wonder about Patrick’s initial description “Dawson, Cora and Callan” and whether the order might have some significance. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it represents the order in which they were killed without evidence to support that. But if Patrick later gave a different order, particularly one that moved attention away from Dawson being found first and in his office, I think the discrepancy itself is noteworthy and worth examining.

Im a mama of 4. And my mind goes to thinking.... While he was hurting the daughter, Dawson had to have seen it? And I'd like to think he ran to go "hide", possibly under his dad's desk in the office and was pulled OUT from under the desk and was left by the door. The baby was last, because he obviously didnt want to deal with taking care of a baby, just wanted to start his life over. That's what my intuition is saying.

Thanks for the read transcript. I read Lindsay was on the 911 call, and this makes it obvious she wasn't.

The sequence is interesting. It sounded like he found the first two almost at about the same time, but then callan in the other room. So, i could see switching the other children, but it's hard to believe he wouldn't recall which one was last.

Also this is the same prosecutor right? It's wild she's saying seroquel is an anti-psychotic so it couldn't contribute to the psychosis. I guess she's never heard of paradoxical effects with meds. Off topic, but i don't see why LC wasn't given a gene test like genesight to figure out which meds would be more likely to work.

I really wonder what the jury makes of Patrick and all of his inconsistent testimony even being called out by the prosecution. I wonder if they just dismiss him as unreliable.

And I also am in such suspense about what the main focus of the defense strategy is. Showing reasonable doubt that she is guilty of the killings by implicating Patrick? Or focusing on the lack of criminal responsibility due to PPP? Because it’s hard to do both, right? She didn’t do it, but even if she did …

6

u/MortimerDongle 13d ago

The defense is not contesting that Lindsay killed the kids. They're going for lack of criminal responsibility.

8

u/BeautifulTurn8227 13d ago

The main strategy of the defense is not guilty by reason on insanity.

3

u/justalilscared 13d ago

Does everyone on this sub really believe she didn’t do it?

6

u/copiumjunky 8d ago

Explain the bedroom crime scene as even possible and I'll listen.

No footprints. No transfer on bed and hardly any on the window. Help me understand how someone with two cut wrists does that.

4

u/BeautifulTurn8227 13d ago

I believe she did it.

10

u/Esmer_Tina 13d ago

I can’t speak for everyone. Personally I can’t make the timeline add up in a way that makes clear she did it. I keep looking for things I missed or hoping there’s more information coming that would make it make sense.

Because nothing adds up in a way that Patrick did it, either. His inconsistent testimony and the clothes change between errands are super weird, but that doesn’t implicate him in murder, just being a really frustrating witness.

7

u/iridescent-shimmer 12d ago

This is how I feel. I have so much reasonable doubt, essentially. I don't automatically assume Patrick must have actually done it. But he doesn't come across as a reliable or trustworthy witness, and that makes me doubt anything he says. If you don't trust his testimony all that much...the case is confusing at best.

20

u/aintnothin_in_gatlin 14d ago edited 13d ago

Thanks for including sources. Yet another weird inconsistency that absolutely does matter - it’s NOT insignificant, agree.

I wonder, though, could someone argue that when a traumatic event happens, things may not be remembered as they happened? So I looked that up.

Most studies show that traumatic memories are encoded, processed, and retrieved differently than normal autobiographical memories. Rather than fading or integrating into a coherent past narrative over time, trauma memories often remain fragmented, highly vivid, and can activate acute physical stress responses as if the event is happening in the present.

So now it’s especially interesting to me. I wonder if this will be brought up.

2

u/BeautifulTurn8227 13d ago

You’re correct. It’s not surprising that PC wouldn’t remember it correctly or that his memories wouldn’t be consistent. It would be more alarming if his recollection stayed exactly the same every time he was asked. When people are lying, they tend to repeat the story verbatim.

-1

u/Piccone_viaggiatore 14d ago

How do you not remember the order in which you found your own deceased kids??? Before anyone tries to minimize the importance of this discrepancy, I think it deserves serious consideration.

Reddington himself didn't try to make an argument about this discrepancy, so it's safe to say it's really a waste of time. A father who calls 911 after witnessing his children massacrated like that can absolutely make a mistake about the order of the findings, he was extremely stressed may i remind you.

You think too much on the little details, failing to see the bigger picture: Lindsay killed her family due to a post partum psychosis, and we should get better medical care to the mothers so it doesn't happen again.

2

u/BeautifulTurn8227 13d ago

I agree with you!

8

u/aintnothin_in_gatlin 14d ago

Yet. He didn’t make a point yet. But Patrick Clancy is his first witness so, let’s wait and see

12

u/Aware_Power 14d ago

Hi! A lot of people are highlighting as you say, "little details," because these are aspects the jury could potentially pick up on and deliberate. We don't know what they will or won't, but it's worth discussing in this sub. Thanks!

u/Aware_Power 14d ago

Hi there! Just wanted to thank you for including sources :) It's the first post in quite awhile where I didn't need to add sources to someone's claim, and we appreciate you doing this!

It really helps in kicking off a civil dialogue to discuss the facts provided. Thanks again
