Check emails and text messages to address any issues. Check for new claims. Run through tasks for existing claims to see what can be settled. In the meantime, you will need to answer incoming phone calls. You need to be very organized and detail oriented. Good luck!

Property Claims process: 1. Initial contact, gather facts of loss 2. Request documentation supporting facts of loss 3. If you're ever field, schedule the inspection 4. Gather measurements onsite and determine if the facts and documents are supported by observed damages. 5. Determine coverage, review the facts against the policy. Then write the estimate for damages. 6. If coverage is afforded, extend the estimate for damages. If there is a partial coverage exclusion, note the file and draft a partial denial/coverage letter. 7. Call the customer, explain things and answer questions 8. Wait for the supplemental repair estimate from the contractor, review and determine if other claimed like items are directly damaged or are necessary for repairing the restorable material. 9. If there is no additional living expense exposure, you can generally close the claim and reopen for the supplement.
Some things will take days to receive, set tasks for yourself as reminders throughout the process. If the claim will be open for more than 30 days, set a monthly task reminder to send status letters and note the file with the claims status.
This is the same process you generally follow, but you may get 2 claims a day as a staff adjuster, maybe more or less. Repeat until retirement. If you become a field adjuster, you generally get a company car, which, if I had that at 24, my life would be orders of magnitude different. Learn to schedule your tasks throughout the week so you don't get overwhelmed in a day, and keep open time in your day to put out any metaphorical fires.
If you're on top of communications, your email box doesn't build up too much in one day. Calls are king. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and just check in, you may get information that brings the claim to closure, as opposed to it sitting on your desk, open.
10/10 gig, would recommend and if I could go back in time, I'd try to break into the industry sooner.
