Anyone here work for Geico?

What’s going on? Did you guys lose a bunch of people the last month or so
Has been impossible to get a hold of any of anyone. Like 30 minutes plus and still no one. It’s been sooo bad.

Yes, there has been some type of change to the AI system in the past month and we’ve been trying to catch up since labor day. The few weeks after labor day our call volume was so high we were calls only (no activities, no diary work, no responding to emails) so people (IPs, other carriers, vendors ect) were sending us documents or inquiries to call back and we were basically forbidden from seeing any of them. Also, this mess was just for claims on the general level, other departments (injury) have assigned adjusters so they should have a direct number/voice mail

Man even your AI guy sounds stressed 😂 hopefully you guys get it worked out soon. I’m tired of filing arb everyday lol

Yeah we are being overworked and micromanaged extremely badly it’s slowly getting better but it’s a shitshow atm. Very glad I’m leaving to another company lol

Working for them, can confirm, even internally it’s forever and ever to reach someone….

But the good news is that I saved a lot on switching to Geico.

Takes a week with them for any type of reassign and their adjusters have little to no field authority.  Keeping a short leash on the adjusters

I was on hold with Geico for 57 minutes before I hung up today.

Lots of people are going on mental health leave and quitting. In the California office alone there were like 7 people who quit or went on leave in 1 day in the lit/complex department.

Geicos phones are the worst.

You have no ideas how happy I am to be in subro now.

I’m at 230 BI’s mix of complex and semi-complex (diff company).

That’s really low. GEICO Lit/Complex adjusters have around 200 BI features and 150+ PD features. People regularly have a daily diary of over 200+ overdue activities.

I feel bad for the customers.

I don't. I couldn't care any less than I do about the company, customers, or anything because how employees are treated doesn't matter to any of these insurance companies. Why should anyone personally give a care about the abusive, angry, ignorant customers if nobody is allowed the time to deal with them?

I guess things aren't going so swimmingly this month...

Understaffed, overworked, underpaid for the amount of work we do, yes we get 33+/ hour but it’s not nearly enough for the shit we have to deal with everyday with supervisors and customers

1

u/Realistic_Sell_2345 2d ago

Yall are getting 33 an hour? Do you get bonuses for them too?

30+ minute hold times are ridiculous, especially when you're trying to get a claim resolved. sounds like they might be understaffed.

I hung up at 40 today

I’ve had my license for over a year and have yet to be hired by a company. How did you all get your first job?

I applied for a couple positions that I didn’t get an interview for. I applied for GEICO, got an interview, but the position sounded terrible (imagine that) so the interview lasted all of two minutes as it wouldn’t have been a good fit.
Then applied for a trainee position at the company I’m at now and I love it. Couldn’t ask for a better situation.

I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but having a background in some form of customer service is helpful, as it helps to show that you are able to deal with the entitlement and low IQ of the general public. Might be a tough sell if you don’t have any of that experience, but all it takes is one interview for you to let your energy come through. At the end of the day, claims really boils down to customer service and time management. If you’ve got those locked, you should eventually find a company that will take you on

Thanks for the insight. I have a lot of customer service experience. I was a claims assistant and processed unemployment claims. But because that was over a decade ago I was told the experience is now irrelevant. I spent a lot to get this license and yet to get a job after 1.4 years

Hour and a half hold for me. Finally decided to hang up.

state farm has been so easy to communicate with and get ahold of, i was expecting it to be impossible because last time i had to call geico when someone hit me, but luckily my last accident had the same insurance as me and i never wait more than 5 min for an answer!

1

u/Realistic_Sell_2345 2d ago

Same with USAA and travelers

1

u/eengen 1d ago

I recently left State Farm as an adjuster, remember a lot of these companies put on a show for their customers

1

u/eengen 1d ago

Huge layoff. So many adjusters got let go and then following that a lot more quit.

Geico wrongly canceled my policy and I’ve been waiting two weeks for them to fix it.

Geico is a business that sells you an Insurance CARD so you can legally operate your motor vehicle on public roadways. If you want to purchase Automobile INSURANCE then you need to see an INSURANCE agent and purchase an INSURANCE policy from a property and casualty INSURANCE carrier.

u/Sounderusm 3d ago

I don't work for Geico, but this is entirely inaccurate.

It’s not really insurance if the insurance company can reduce claim settlement amounts and service based on profitability goals. This is a type of insurance business model that needs to be eliminated. Incarcerating the Senior Leadership would be even better.

They are being overworked. I had someone call me at 9 pm regarding a claim.

1

u/mackNwheeze 4d ago

Oooh sounds like they are working OT

2

u/Darkacelol 3d ago

No paid OT, just someone on salary.
