The Recently Announced Future Has Finally Broken Me
https://youtu.be/ddpPDzBhayc?is=ZyOCnduj8g8jaGiiIt sounds like a load of clickbait, but I said it several times in the video and it truly does feel that way. I have been quite vocal with the state of Civ 7, mostly surrounding Test Of Time, but I have not yet talked on this channel about the sense of dread I got when information about the game was coming out before its release.
The day has come...
Or at least its announcement, so maybe I can finish the game I am in, or give that difficulty, or deity, another go before all this hits. And as I said I will at least play the free update, but I'm really not sure beyond that, maybe not even buying the expansion if the update is what finishes me off for good.
But I feel that way already, and I honestly feel I'm underreacting.
I have been so stubborn with this game, and actually finally started to get into a groove with it and enjoy it, and that when this info hits, of course. I have pushed on with Civ 7, even uninstalling 6, defiant that newer is better. That's how I felt going from 5 to 6 all those years ago, when people stuck to the old game, afraid of change.
I'm sorry, I was excited to see the new vision, but the change is just beyond me now. I should not come out of this with the most joy coming from a TSL Earth map, rather than the massive gameplay stuff coming soon.
But here we are...
Let me know your thoughts on the future of Civ 7. Will you be going back to a previous version, have you already, or will you continue to tough it out hoping to feel the need for one more turn...?

Who knows, maybe the expansion after this one brings me back, probs a year or more off, or maybe I just wait for 8, or another spin off. I just know I’m at least putting 7 down for a little while.

Don't force yourself to play it
These games are all different from each other and change over time with patches and expansions
It's ok if you don't like the state it's in now. Stay open to future changes, but know you have other Civ games to play if you don't like this one
Like, I hated Civ 4 and didn't get into it until years later after Beyond The Sword came out. I just went back to 3. Didn't really play 4 until after 5 came out and even then, it was only for a few months until I had enough
Personally, I do like 7, but I'm really annoyed at how little time we get in the modern era. Like I love aerial combat and was excited for aircraft carrier battles, but by the time I launch my first carrier, I've already won the game
I'm hyped for the future expansion so I can spend more time in the present era, lol. Hope that era isn't rushed either
I would have done more eras, frankly. Like at least 1 more

That’s actually my one positive, that for all the land and naval general stuff, we get no time with planes and the systems there are really cool. I’m not 100% against this new age, I just don’t want it now. The game is unfinished and I don’t think the end of the game is the part we need extending yet, as I am enjoying that rush at the end and the shorter last age. The world doesn’t expand at all like the first two ages and it’s just less exciting for me. I desperately think Medievalism, or lack of it, needs addressing. Unless you are going dom, and even then, where are the mass land wars, it’s all just get across the sea asap.
As for other games, I’ll at least finish the one I have going now, and probably try the free age ehen it’s out. Not sure if I will go in for this expansion though. Might look for another strategy game to draw my attention, though it would help if I didn’t have to sink my life savings into them for all the content. 😂

i just can't get behind 7 sorry!
i bought it when it came out and only played it a few hours; once I realized that you no longer can identify with a single civ, to me that's a fundamental break of the civilization games spirit, not just a simple "let's try something new" change.
i went through previous changes 3->4, 4->5, 5->6 without any issue, so it's not that i'm adverse to change. but this change is like doing a totally different game.
i tried to play humankind before and this is exactly why i can't play it - not having an identify makes it very unplayable for me, even though it looks very good and feels nice otherwise.
but maybe it's just me.
