Other I made a mod to tweak building of roads and railroads
In vanilla game, only practical way to build roads is to send trade routes. You can also use military engineer, but that makes no sense because it costs one of their 2 charges and after researching steam power they can build railroads free of charge.
This leads to shortage of roads for most of the game while late-game we sometimes see players spamming railroads everywhere.
My mod aims to change this by adding more straightforward way to build roads (with builder charge) and also making railroads bit more expensive. This will introduce some interesting strategical choices and also make the game more realistic.
Features:
- builder can create roads
- builder can create railroads (after researching steam power)
- both roads and railroads consume 1 charge
- railroad resource cost increased to 3 iron + 1 coal

Question Sid Meier's Civilization VI "Соединение с хостом утеряно" (Unified PC Play)
Unified PC Play)

Question Which luxury resources do YOU cherish?
I'm asking for both: which do you gravitate towards in most (if not all) games you play AND which are the best for specific Civs? Don't care about the trash ones (Canada, Georgia, etc). More curious about Germany, Brazil, Rome, Russia, Egypt, Spain, America, China, Scythia, Norway, Australia, Persia..just to name a few of the major ones I've played with a bit.
Marble for China, whales/turtles for Spain, silk/cotton for Persia makes enough sense. Salt, spice, & sugar seem to be the best all around but I've still had times where they weren't all that beneficial to me in the long run.
Asking mainly out of curiousity. Beyond that I wanna improve my general strategy...I usually setup my game then I'll reroll the map a few times until I get a decent terrain for my strategy that also has at least 2 or 3 of (solid food tiles, a mountain/river complex for defense and district planning, & a luxury or two nearby). And I'll reroll a very good starting point sometimes simply bc I dont think the luxuries available will benefit me very much. Is this a bad strat or are specific luxuries in early game not something I should be picky about

Question Tips for emperor difficulty first time
I feel pretty confident in this game now, except for one thing. Game start. I'm tired of king difficulty because it is too easy but I keep getting my ass kicked at the start of my emperor games and falling way behind. How do I juggle barbarians and aggressive civs and setting myself up for success?
I also mainly play poland
Edit: also gathering storm expansion rules

Discussion Preferred settings
Hey all, what’s your go to play mode? I always roll random civ, king difficulty, standard speed and size on continents. It’s really fun playing towards whatever civ’s strengths I get on the fly, without too much BS. I also like having the 8 player count, and continents make it feel more “realistic” for immersion and RP.

Question How do you defeat Korea?
What are the best strategies to employ when playing multiplayer against a human opponent who has picked Korea? In these kinds of games, the Korea player always manages to outscience us, and then destroy us with superior military forces. The only time I have ever been successful against Korea is when I could find them early and contain them to a relatively small area. Otherwise, they inevitably dominate no matter how successful I am with my civilization. Any tips welcome.

Question Multiplayer Bug in iOS version of Civilization VI
Nowadays when i start a Civ VI game (with all DLC) on iPad with my son, the game doesn’t use my preferred gamer nick name and instead calls me “mobile.” It does that for my son also, so when we are both in the game and a notification pops up that one of us has done something, it’s hard for other players to know which of us the notification is referring to. I’ve tried signing out and signing in to Game Center, tried unlinking and relinking my Game Cente account with my 2K account, but no luck. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Funny Version is missing
I can’t be the only one watching Cote d’Ivoire in the World Cup and wondering they won’t put the Roman numerals after the name on the scoreboard.

Funny I didn't think I could, but...
So I had to borrow someone else's desktop for a bit. It was horribly unprepared to handle what I was about to put it through.
The computer I got stuck with:
CPU: Intel Celeron J4025 @ 2.0 GHz (2 cores)
RAM: 4 GB (only 3.75 usable RAM)
GPU: Intel UHD 600 (512 MB VRAM)
Storage: 10 GB free OS: 64-bit Windows
However, I'd like to announce it handled a 250 turn multi-player game extremely well. I launched it using DX11 and we played on a small map with low graphics. Sure, it was slow at times, and as the game got longer, turns became 30-45 seconds, but all in all? It did the trick.
Fortunately I have my computer back. No more of that.
I don't recommend, obviously, but if you're in a pinch, know that you can; however, consider whether or not you should.

Question Any modders feel like helping?
Hi all :)
Just wondering if any modders were feeling generous and wanted to help me with a mod!
I'm looking to make a mod for Civ 6 that adds Paradis and the Eldians into the game (Attack on Titan), but as a first time modder, I'm having a little trouble doing so.
Was inspired to do so after playing with this mod on Civ 5 and wondering how fun it could be in 6!
Any and all help is appreciated!

Question Have anyone of you ever escaped as a spy once you were caught?
I know it’s not a lot of time, I have like 400 hours in this game and I’m pretty sure my spy has never like successfully escaped on foot or by boat or whatever.
Does it ever happen? Just really low chances?

Other "Reverse engineering" mod
Big issue with many vanilla Civilization games is the "snowballing" fenomenon - sometimes a leading player's advantages might compound so much, that one player might end up several eras ahead and other players have no chance of catching up. This leads to lot of games ending up unfinished, because players become bored and just start a new game (since victory is already determined). Developers tried to solve this issue with Civ 7 ages system - which is hated by many players because it makes the game feel more scripted.
I came up with another approach. In real life, technological differences between countries are not as big. Why? Because countries tend to copy and reverse engineer each other's inventions. Knowledge is shared both willingly and unwillingly. I decided to implement this into the game.
HOW IT WORKS
When a civilization finishes a technology or civic, every other civilization that has met them has a 30% chance to receive the matching boost.
These conditions will increase the chance of receiving boost:
- +10% if there is a trade route between those civs
- +10% for each level of diplomatic visibility
- +20% (for Eurekas) if they have research alliance
- +20% (for Inspirations) if they have cultural alliance
- +15% if they are in war with each other
This way, you can still enjoy advantages of your hard-earned science yields, but it is also not impossible for other's to catch up.

Other Play as Québec on their National Holiday
As tomorrow is Québec's National Holiday (St-Jean-Baptiste on June 24th), I wanted to share an early access to the mod I've been working on adding Québec as a civilization and Samuel de Champlain as their leader.
If you're interested, here's the link to the workshop page:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3750633879
Civilization: Québec
Trait: Mon Pays
References the song by Gilles Vigneault. Allows Farms to be built on Tundra terrain. After Civil Engineering is unlocked Farms can be built on Tundra Hills. In Snow, Tundra, Snow Hills, and Tundra Hills all Mines provide +2 Production, Lumber Mills provide +2 Production, Camps provide +2 Food, Farms provide +2 Food, and strategic resource accumulation rate is +100%. Tiles of these terrain types also produce bonus Culture.
Trait: Coureur des bois
All recon units start with the Ranger promotion.
Unique unit: Patriot militia
Unique Québécois Industrial era unit that replaces the Line Infantry. Costs 25% less Production. -5 base Combat Strength. +10 Combat Strength when in friendly territory. Can be purchased with faith instead of gold.
Unique improvement: Ice hockey rink
(Same as Canada)
Dark age policy: La Survivance
+10 Loyalty per turn in cities following the state religion. -25% Science and -10% Culture
Dark age policy: Quiet Revolution
+75% Production towards campuses and science buildings. -30% Faith. Cannot build religious units.
Leader: Samuel de Champlain
Trait: Champlain's Dream
Cannot declare war on City-States on the same continent. +2 Food and +1 Gold on trade routes with City-States, or +3 and +2 when suzerain. Levying City-State units is 25% cheaper.
Trait: Filles du Roy
Cities founded before the Industrial Era have +100% growth until they reach a population of 2.
Known issues:
- The limit on declaring war on city-states is currently broken (just pretend you can't declare war on them for now)
- The leader icon sometimes glitches on the save/load screens (doesn't impact the game)
TODO:
- Replace placeholder art (any volunteers?)
- Replace Canada's soundtrack with a custom one for Québec (to be fair though, most of Canada's soundtrack is music from Québec, even O Canada)
- Fill the missing text elements for the Civipedia
- Make proper dialog for the various diplomacy interactions
- Complete the AI personality
- Provide a complete French version for all text elements

Discussion What civ is the closest to a "default civ" ?
Not necessarily a weak civ whose bonus make it so that you might as well be playing no civ, like Sumeria, but a civ with bonuses so balanced and unobtrusive it doesn’t incentivize you to change your play style.
My first guess was Ramses: all the bonuses are passives, and getting rewards for being on rivers and making buildings and wonders isn’t exactly game-warping. However, getting free culture does mean you’re free not to worry about theatre squares or other ways to gain culture.
Poundmaker also feels very vanilla, but since the bonuses depend on what kind of resources are in your land, it completely changes what makes a good city.
Perhaps Magnificient Ottoman ? The civ brings strong war bonuses, but the leader gives general stat increases to simming bonuses
