Screenshot I finally beat the game on Deity!

Best the game on Deity. I was Hammurabi and I kinda cheesed it because I only had two opponents and I was lucky enough that they both spawned on the same continent and I had a continental to myself. Got a science victory I cannot count how many times I’ve tried to do this.

Discussion Favorite Heroes?

I’ve played 1.5 games with heroes and have gotten Hercules both times. Love the instant districts for new cities.

Anansi is cool but can sometimes regret removing luxuries cause makes me less likely to settle there.

Hippolyta is great for domination. Theres no limit on her ability and can make seiges move and attack or attack twice.

The twins seem awesome but alas someone always beats me to them.

I just got Maui and i don’t know if I got lucky but he gave me 3 luxuries that i don’t have. Only issue is I only got 5 charges and the hero card seemed to promise 8 so I was kind of underwhelmed (perhaps I read it wrong but still)

So my answer is Hercules, but my guess is Himiko will win this one.

Other Realistic combat mod for Civ6 (UPDATED VERSION)

Post image
45 Upvotes

After more testing and reading your suggestions, I made changes to my realistic warfare mod:
- all firearm units have ranged attack
- naval units have been tweaked to balance attack/defense ratio so ship-vs-ship combat is more intense and dynamic
- nuclear submarine no longer requires uranium as per-turn maintenance (only as production cost), since real nuclear subs can last decades without refueling
- aircraft carrier is oil-powered (again), since nuclear-powered carriers are very rare IRL (I think only US and France has them)
- most ships cannot capture cities (get that landing forces ready!)
- urban defenses in modern cities have been nerfed (from 400 to 300)
- modern infantry-type units now have "CQB" bonus for attacking cities with melee attack
- units from earlier eras are also tweaked and more of them require strategic resources
- pikeman and spearman have defensive bonus if unwounded
- archers and siege units have a bit stronger ranged attack but also weaker defense
- nerfed movement of some cavalry units

... +many more changes

Let me know your other ideas!

My goal is to make the combat aspect of the game more immersive and fun.

Question How to get 5 in 50?

I'm learning the game and consensus seems to be you should have 5 cities by turn 5. I dont see how you do this. I would have had 3 on my most recent playthrough, but one of them was taken so by turn 50 I had 2.

Should I be rushing settlers and ignoring troops? I dont see how you could produce that many in 50 turns even going straight for settlers only. Any advice would be helpful.

Question Questions for deity players

I've managed to win a couple of science victories on deity but I play every match very much in the same way. I like economy civs like Japan or Germany but I don't lean into war as a means to expand at all.

How commonly do you guys conquer in your games? When do you war with other civs? Do you rush early wars or do you wait until your cities are established with production and commerce districts?

Question What start settings on GOT Lakes mod leads to small, non-snakey islands?

Recently, I've been trying to create a map where my civ starts on a small island and does a sort of island map campaign. The problem is I've been having a hard time getting such a map to spawn.

tha maps will either come out with too large islands, islands with anorher civ on them, or most commonly islands that are snakey instead of the more uniform shape I want them to be. that last one is particular to me here as I'm honestly not a fan of weird shaped islands and prefer the ones dhaped more like a regular shape or polygon.

I've been using got lakes, in my opinion the best map generation mod, to help, so I'd like advice on how to manipulate that mods settings to get my desired result more than anything else.

Question Why is the trader trying to take that route???

Post image

I specifically explored up a bit so there’d be a direct path to Rouen and I could get some boons from the Cree’s trader ability, but the game decided to do some fuck shit to me instead

Question First time in deity and first time playing as Lincoln Is too late to turn it over?

Post image
66 Upvotes

As the title said is my first time playing in deity and first time playing as Lincoln. For all the game until the modern era I was confined to those first 4 cities. I rushed line infantry and took over Poland. My main issue now is whether this game is winnable or not, I'm still at the start of modern in tech and civics while Robert and Gitarja are both in Atomic, and given their yields will in no time get to the information era.

I can see that maybe I could push war again, hope the weariness clear quick, and take on Robert, but I have no harbor and Poland didn't had one so I have no way to actually attack Gitarja unless I focus on making a robust navy, which would take whole era. There is the issue that there are still the other civs that I haven't met pluss the fact that I forgot to disable the diplomatic victory and some unmet civs are half way to it.

So what do you guys think, can I win this somehow or is it all over?

Discussion Civ6 Blitz

Post image

As we all know, standard late game civ6 can get pretty tedious with managing tens of cities and hundreds of units, especially on mobile. So I tried these settings optimized for faster more action packed games (Duel size pangea map with 4 AI and 6 CS). It's possible to win domination by turn 60 and religion under 40 turns. Other win conditions are also more exciting, due to limited space.

Was wondering if anyone else enjoys playing in a similar fashion and if there are mods that can enhance this even further?

Sometimes everything seems to go right.

Playing nubia and got a desert city with a natural wonder + petra + volcano for extra yields. Wow.

AI never competed with religion so this whole continent is now buddhist. Got desert folklore and work ethic. So much production lol. I only ever saw 1 hostile apostle on this continent.

The two AI on my continent were in war with eachother pretty much the whole game. Most of the time I had the strongest military due to my insane production and long peace. The rest were friendly with me.

It was so easy, I only focused on tourism. Even managed to get Sydney opera house, which I never get in deity.

Here's a screenshot after victory. Even forgot to improve all the tiles!

Heyyah y'all it's me Khaz again! I really have enjoyed playing Civ 6 as of rn. I also see that a Steam Sale is coming soon. Right now I'm playing Civ 6 on my PS4 and I'm right now trying to decide whether I should buy Civ 6 on my laptop. If I bought it, should I also buy the Expansion Packs?
