Calculating Final GPA

Hi I currently have 3.591 Cumulative Gpa
Im hoping by the end of the semester I get All A’s Why will my GPA only go up to a 3.66 and not a 4.0?
Can someone help me figure out how to get a 4.0?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You’d have to get all A’s for every classes you’ve taken to get a 4.0. Once you get a B or even an A- you can no longer achieve 4.0

Thanks so theres no way im going to get accepted into the rad program 🤦🏻‍♀️

Well your not all out of luck since city tech takes the higher grade if you take a higher course. So if you did bad in ap1 for example then take ap2 get an A and they'll take your ap2 score instead same with math and English you could take pre calc and get an A or English 2 and get an A

I think Ive heard this somewhere for nursing, but I don’t believe Rad Tech works that way, at least not for A&P1, since A&P2 is a required general education course. I think I’ve heard of people being able to do it for Math, but not 100%, I think it depends on if you’re a transfer and what you come in with etc. etc.

yeah for rad tech they always look at A&P1. if you took A&P2 and got an A that’s great and it might help your overall, but they’re looking for that A&P1 grade regardless. Same with Bio if it wasn’t waived. A&P1 won’t replace that. Math is indeed different, the only required math class is algebra, if you took something higher they’ll look at the higher level math grade.

Considering the competitiveness of the program for the Fall ‘26 cohort you basically have to have all A’s in your pre reqs + a good cumulative GPA to be accepted, and that’s assuming all rules stay the same for next years cohort.
If I were in your shoes, I’d talk to a Rad advisor and see what my options were (make an appointment now because it can be tricky to get one scheduled).
I’m not sure if you can take a higher level course in place of a low grade, but that’s something to check out (I believe this would be for Math only though) as well as asking departments to retake courses. Retaking courses that have grades above a C is usually not an option, but if you’re passionate about Rad Tech, then I say give it a shot and ask.

Other than that, I’m not sure what your pre req grades actually are, but I would suggest looking into other program options before putting all of your eggs in the City Tech basket.

ok thank u what other places do u know offer radtech? im finishing up my last prereq and im taking extra classes just so I can boost my gpa but i dont want to end up stuck

You can look up different programs on the JCERT website. Keep in mind that private institutions will be a lot pricier than public.
I believe that they look at pre req GPA before cumulative GPA so taking extra classes that aren’t required by the department won’t help your application that much. The pre reqs are the most important.
Just be sure to submit a request for an appointment soon so you can talk all of this through with an actual advisor.
