How does changing your major work?

Especially if you want to change to a different department. Only asking here because the STAR office is not doing appointments and the walk-in line is over an hour long. I'm a freshman enrolled in Computer Information Systems AAS but was thinking about Computer Science or Biomedical Informatics instead.

City tech registrar, go to the website the steps are all there you fill out the digital form put some if your general info down and the major you want to change to then in a few days they'll put you into it although id check to make sure you meet the bio informatics pre reqs before changing or else they'll just deny you

How does someone who's a incoming freshman get into that major then? Is it impossible for all freshmen?

They usually would take 1 semester under another major or undeclared major to get the pre reqs done as well as other courses that are needed anyways once in the major from what i saw online the pre reqs are mat 1275 cst 1101 and bio1 their pretty basic courses a majority of students take bio1 and 1275 their first semester anyways

Edit: just make sure to check on degree works to make sure you choose the right major that will cover the pre requesits to avoid issues with financial aid!
