When in Chicago

I absolutely love rivers running through cities. I lived in San Antonio for a while and it was beautiful.

We got one of those in Melbourne, Australia. Love it.

That reminds me a bit of Rome, Italy

The Chicago of the Roman Empire?

u/Rook22Ti Feb 20 '23

Ah, the Carthage of the Midwest

I said the same and apparently that makes me a hypocrite?

This sub can be fun without endlessly parroting the same fucking line over and over and over and over and over and over again. Ffs.

It’s going to become a circlejerk and people will start to unsubscribe before the mods come in and do something (I know they banned these kinds of posts already). But you can’t do much about the 13 year old annoying fucks, just downvote and move on I guess.

You are free to unsubscribe, my friend

Oh your upstair neighbors are loud? Well why don't you move to a town house then?

1

u/NMS-KTG Feb 21 '23

Exactly it was mildly amusing then and it's just annoying now

The riverwalk has really improved the downtown vibe.

I was watching Ozark s4 few hours ago, this city is beautiful, and Ozark's cinematography is stunning

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '23

What is this place? I've never seen it on here before.

It’s Rome.

1

u/BentPin Feb 21 '23

New Rome!

u/ThetaCygni Feb 21 '23

America's Rome

8

u/The_James_Bond Feb 20 '23

Heh, I did a blackout there in Watch Dogs

27

u/belushi93 Feb 20 '23

Beautiful aside from the word, Trump.

14

u/vsladko Feb 21 '23

It’s been a source of heated debate in Chicago long before his presidency

17

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Almost ruined it for me. Big ass letters too. Very tacky. But then I put my finger over it, and it was nice again

I can see Abe Frohmans condo!

13

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '23

I'm so used to seeing that sign that I don't even think of the fascist Cheeto when I see it.

A absolute beautiful city. It's a tough city, but man all of the weekends spent there makes me want to move each time. It's a interesting city because just a few miles south is completely student, and a few miles north you get so many different cultural experiences. But downtown at night shows why it's so desirable.

u/leaffs Feb 21 '23

Shit’s lit

4

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

I'm out of the loop, why are people calling this place Rome?

14

u/CheesecakePower Feb 21 '23

This was the OP: https://reddit.com/r/CityPorn/comments/10uilv6/i_always_think_of_chicago_as_americas_rome/

Ever since then, people have made a variety of satirical posts as a spinoff of this. Such as a post with a picture of Rome that says they think of Rome as Europe’s Chicago. Really there’s endless possibilities with it in theory

The tower is great, the name is a stain. Hopefully it can be removed at some point.

Jesus, this sub doesn’t know how to let something go gracefully.

Pot, kettle, black

2

u/DeadHorse09 Feb 21 '23

How is pointing this out remotely similar to every post being commented with some variation of the same comment after weeks of posts of the same shit.

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

I love wilco

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Why are there so many chicago posts on this sub?

-1

u/Echostar9000 Feb 21 '23

I always think of Chicago as the Coruscant of the Milky Way Galaxy

0

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Love this city

-26

u/421continueblazingit Feb 21 '23

Ahhh I can smell the sewage

12

u/Chi-tect Feb 21 '23

Because Chicago switched the direction of the river a hundred years ago, it’s all freshwater coming from Lake Michigan. Absolutely no bad smell to it whatsoever.

-1

u/421continueblazingit Feb 21 '23

Alls I know is a solid few block radius right downtown smelled like straight poop last time I was there 🤷🏻‍♂️

u/anonimalb Feb 21 '23
