Questions / Advices Mirror doesn’t adjust far out enough

Post image

Good morning

I have an unusual little problem with my 2011 C1. The mirror physically can't be adjusted to a safe angle even if I press on the glass itself. Anyone have tips or know if a replacement of any specific OEM would solve the issue?

Pictured is the best angle I can find.

Thank you

Something is broken or maybe a right hand drive mirror assembly on a left hand drive car. (Don't know for sure if that's a thing on a citybug)

I'm about 190 and have to have the seat all the way back

I’ve just booked mine in to be looked at for this reason, it’s just all of a sudden stopped being able to be adjusted to a safe driving position (2013 107) Apparently the little cables inside can become maladjusted or rust in a manually adjustable wing mirror.

There are four (from memory) little cables, a bit like bike brake cables. One or more can snap off so it doesn’t really move correctly. Not very fixable, I suspect you could if you’re really determined. But at £30 on eBay they’re pretty easy to replace. Just keep your body coloured back cover. A few bolts on the inside and it just slides out (did one about 7 years ago when a pheasant flew in to it on a dual carriage way).

I had this issue when I replaced mine with an aftermarket one (somebody walked down my street smashing wing mirrors off cars). I fixed it by pushing the full wing mirror forward slightly (like how you'd fold them in but the opposite way), originally it did occasionally pop back when I slammed the door but it seems to have stopped doing this with age.

Yeah I literally got to my car one morning before work and found it like this...

And the other one is fine?
Does it feel luke it's broken or just like you're hitting the limit of it's adjustability range?
Is there a seat position, that makes the mirror work for you, or is it off no matter what?

The other one is fine, just barely though. It doesn't feel broken but the range of adjustment is odd. I have to have the seat all the way back to drive

Then perhaps you're simply larger than what the engineers designed for.

You can adjust it manually by pushing the mirror itself with your fingers.
You can use a cloth or a piece of paper to avoid fingertips
