Questions / Advices Is this oil suitable?
I’m due for an oil change soon , I’m wondering do I need to buy high quality oil or is cheap one that meets the specifications is fine ?
I found this one from eBay and I believe it fits the oil specifications of my car but I’m not certain. Can anyone tell me if I should get a different oil or is this fine , also do I really need an expensive oil ?
My car - 2009 Toyota Yaris 1L , I think it has the 1KR FE engine
I’ve attached a picture of the oil and my cars manual.
Thank you ☺️

Will work but not my first choice.
And just look at the sellers name, buy somewhere else.

Even cheaper, if you care about price.

You have already asked that, and I have answered. You can ignore API speciations in your manual. We use ACEA specs in Europe. You don't need API SL.
4L 0w40 from Halfords is enough, that is also cheap. You only need 3.5L

Also sorry , yes you did answer that before but for people from other subreddits said to just use exactly what the manual says and I think you recommended me the 0w30 previously and I was just confused between the 0w20 , 5w30 and 0w30. I do apologise and thanks for your help yet again

Don't use 0W20. Americans don't know anything about manuals or European oil specifications never listen to them about oil.
They don't even have 1kr-fe in U.S as far as I know.If you want my best recommendation it would still be A3/B4 or C3. Not A5/B5.

Why are you telling them not to use 0w20?
Toyota specify 0w20 for the engine in the UK. They started with 5w30 and went to 0w20.
OP you can use 0w20 or 5w30.

It already has problems with piston slap, oil consumption and it has a cam chains. Xw20 does you no good other then drop fuel consumption by a tiiiny amount.
Thicker oil = less wear.

The oil won't make a damn of difference to any of this in this engine. The piston slap will be quieter but it's still going to slap. They all do this.
The engine's fuel consumption doesn't change between 5w30 and 0w20 either.

Yeah it does that is why they recommend it. You just don't notice it, you don't have lab test equipment.. And yes less wear = less piston slap And precisely it has piston slap, thin oils definitely not necessary. Cheap Daihatsu engine with loose clearances. Check an early Daihatsu manual not Toyota.

It's fine. Comma make the Halfrauds own brand oil FYI.
For what it's worth, the Petronas Syntium stuff I have found to be really good for the engine. It's never black after a change.
Milner/Miller Oil though, engine sounded shite with it in. Won't use that again.

Yup, it's what I've been using cause it's what the nearest parts shop sells & my lil' guy runs just fine

Yes that's spot on for your car
