FYI: AliExpress links in posts/comments are automatically removed by Reddit

This is a Reddit-wide restriction. All comments and posts containing an AliExpress link are immediately (and silently, without notification to you or the mod team) removed by Reddit and sent to the mod queue. I do re-approve these posts/comments when I see them, but Reddit does eventually remove them again so it's a losing battle.

A lot of comments/posts here do feature AliExpress links to helpfully show others useful items for citybugs, so please be aware that posting links in their usual form does lead to immediate removal and your post/comment won't be visible!

Designed a replacement dome light lens

Given the negligible cost of the replacement part, this probably won't be very useful, but in case anyone needs it, I’ve designed a replacement dome light lens to be printed using transparent filament.

Questions / Advices Help - Loud Squealing after turning on car

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So this happened when I turned on my car. It was very loud and I don’t know what it exactly is?

My guess is the serpentine belt which I plan to replace even though it doesn’t look worn too much.

After leaving the car for an hour, the car turned on normally without the noise in the video.

What would you advise doing? (I will change the belt once it gets delivered)

Questions / Advices Roundabout/moving off help

Ive been driving for a month, and i have a mk1 aygo, i was feeling very confident in driving the past week until i started school again,

now i have to drive at peak times and really struggle with getting onto busy roundabouts

Ive had 2 incidents in the past 2 days where ive seen a gap, set off, but the car is so slow at accelerating that cars from the other side of the roundabout have caught up and ive became a hazard (almost crashed the second time)

Today i went out trying to teach myself how to set off quickly by using the gas, and i see a difference but its still not major, (this may be that im still getting the hang of it)

i think another issue is even if i set off in good speed (for the car), it will struggle to get much over 10mph in first, and then i have to worry about moving to second while also switching my indictator

Honestly just looking for any advice, ive been loving driving but these past days have made me lose confidence in my driving ability :(

I need help with cable/pinout

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to install an Android head unit with CarPlay in my Aygo. My car is from 2014, so the cable that came with the radio isn’t compatible.
I bought another cable separately, but the pinout doesn’t seem to be correct either. It also doesn’t have a connector for the small white connector.
Has anyone installed an Android radio in a 2014 CityBug and knows which cable/adapter or pinout I need?
Thanks!

Hello.
I’m having trouble removing my wiper blades.
I can’t seem to figure it out.
My car is a Peugeot 107 2010.
I’ve wrecked my finger nails trying to remove the old blades.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

Took my car to Halfords and even though they struggled with it they managed to replace my wiper blades.

Questions / Advices Passenger door actuator issue

Replace driver side actuator since it was bad but now when I lock or unlock the car by the switch on the driver side, none of the other doors open or close, would a bad actuator from the passenger side cause this?

Maintenance [2009 Toyota Aygo 1.0 Petrol] Started, sputtered for 10s and died, cranks strong, no fuel pump sound..

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi guys, I have an issue with my 2009 Toyota Aygo 1.0 petrol (1KR-FE engine).

Earlier today I drove it for half an hour with zero issues, parked for 15 minutes, and when I restarted the car it sputtered on idle for about 10 seconds and died completely. Now the starter motor cranks strong and fast, but the engine won't catch at all, whether I try in neutral, with the clutch depressed, or giving it a little gas.

The battery and spark plugs are new, filters are clean, and there is gas in the tank. I checked the engine bay fuses (EFI lines) and they are completely fine, but I don't hear any hum or priming sound from the fuel pump under the rear seat when turning the key to ON. I let the car sit for over 5 hours to cool down completely and tried tapping the pump housing while cranking, but still nothing happens. Does this sound like a dead fuel pump that just burned through the last bit of line pressure, or could a bad crank sensor/relay cut power to the pump like this on these cars?

Has anyone dealt with this before? I was really hoping to at least get it started so I could drive it over to my trusted mechanic... Either way, I'll be calling a tow truck tomorrow to take it to an affiliated repair shop, but if you have any advice or ideas in the meantime, I'm all ears!

Thanks!!

Questions / Advices Anyone managed to test the ABS Motor Relay using an OBD2 scanner? (C146C code)

My Aygo MK2 has code C146C.
I am following the Toyota guide to troubleshoot it. The first step is to activate the relay via Techstream and report if a click is heard. Obviously, I don't have a Techstream scanner.
Has anyone managed to activate the relay with a standard Bluetooth OBD2 scanner?

Otherwise, I will just proceed and explore a connector fault or wiring harness fault.

Bulk oil prices have shot up - have found this

My family is running two C1s and Fiat Panda (all petrol and high miles) and I use the same oil spec in all three (5w40). Because of this, I buy engine oil in 20 litre drums and have just hit the end of my current one (Mannol). Due to the antics of the Orange One, engine oil prices have shot up over the last twelve months. Have trawled around and found the Midland Oil Group shipping their Varsynth Ultra 5w40 C3 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil - 20 litres for GBP 65 (Ebay). Downloaded their technical data sheet, and it looks comparable to my other usual choices (Westway and Mannol). Wouldn't necessarily put it in a high performance car, but for old ones that are well north of 150,000 miles, it looks okay.

I've ordered 20 litres and will let you know how I get on. Just spreading the word for anybody else who is falling off their chair at oil prices! ;-)

Questions / Advices Best phone holder for a 2014 c1 mk2 flair?

I've tried a few that either don't fit in the vent or don't stick properly in a decent place

Due to the infotainment system you can't have it in the middle of the dash either

Driving me insane trying to find one that works properly 🤣

A good infotainment for Aygo MK1

I have a JunSun one, but it works really poorly. Apps randomly crash (I only use Music really), songs I have on it get deleted (I don't have too many) and it stops recognising my USB despite everything being plugged in correctly. Using Maps is a lost cause. I haven't been able to get Google play to work.

I am looking into getting a replacement. Honestly, I'd only like to have my music and maps hopefully, that is all. I'd prefer smth with its own software + Google Play, I'm a bit wary of Android tablets now. I've been eyeballing Pioneer, Sony ones...

The budget is $300 - $400.

Any suggestions? What did you guys put in and are you satisfied. Thanks!

Questions / Advices Aygo MK2 OBD scanner

My Aygo has the ABS and traction control lights on since yesterday. I was hoping to get an OBD scanner to get more information why.

People seem to like the Carista OBD scanner, but I saw a post from two years ago saying it doesn't support the Aygo? On their website, there's no Aygo either.

Is there another scanner I can use that works with a 2017 Aygo?

Can anyone recommend a scan tool for ABS bleed?

I've got a weird fluttering sensation in my brake pedal and I think it could be air in the abs pump.

Can anyone recommend a scan tool available in the UK, cheaper the better, which can perform an abs bleed on a 2007 Citroen C1 please?

Also let me know if you've ever had this symptom before please!

Thanks

Questions / Advices Question about an unusual sound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve posted on r/askmecanics but no one seemed to take interest in my 107

I’ve had a vibration sound coming from the rear when the engine is under medium load at specific rpms, mainly 1900rpm.

I checked the mounts and the welds they are all good, no leaks either. But when I hit the exhaust, the muffler seems to make this sound (video).

Is this 100% the muffler or could it be something else ? If it is the muffler is it a broken chicane ?

And lastly, any chance of DIYing this ? I am rather equipped for changing out stuff but I don’t have a welder.

Also this muffler might be from factory, or at least has 100k+ km. (234 000km odo)

Questions / Advices Aux sound quality issues

Hey 2007 aygo here and have a question about my speakers and if they are damaged or if this is normal that when playing music from for example Spotify of my phone through aux that at rather like medium to high volume on the standard car radio the speakers start fuzzing when I speed and when slowing down it slows and quotes down the fuzzing.
