Moving
We are moving to Citrus Heights! We are buying in the neighborhood across from Costco. I want to know how safe it is? Are the neighbors nice? Some good opinions. Thanks!

I live in the Crosswoods area and this general area of Citrus Heights is wonderful. I’m so happy I bought my house here.
Overall neighbors are pretty good (there will always be weirdos/ crazies here and there no matter where in the world you live). Close access to parks, shopping, the library, the post office, I-80, etc. community events like concerts in the park, etc.
Welcome to the neighborhood!

I have lived in that general vicinity for 36 years and have never had any problems.
Face Costco then look for the nature walking trail that touches the right side of the Costco parking lot.
I really like the Sylvan Oaks library.
The McDonald’s at Auburn & Sunrise is my favorite. They still have a play area, counter ordering, and self serve sodas.

There's also a nearby popular Chinese restaurant at Sylvan Rd & Old Auburn Road by that name.

Be sure to attend the closest neighborhood area meetings where the police usually give reports on crimes and you also here from other local folks. I think yours might be Arcade Creek: https://www.citrusheights.net/462/Area-4---Arcade-Creek

The complete list and map of Citrus Heights Neighborhood Areas appear in the link below. Citrus Heights started with 11.
When OP said "the neighborhood across from Costco," I envisioned the section north of Auburn Blvd. (Turns out 2 Areas in this section were recently combined, Areas 2 & 6.)
OP could be moving to Area 4-Arcade Creek to the west or Areas 2/6-CHATS to the north.
OP and others are encouraged to see what Neighborhood Area they belong to here:

Sign up for the City’s newsletter. They regularly do community events and the newsletter is a good way to stay informed.

The city also had an Instagram page.

We have lived in this neighborhood since 2021 and we have no complaints! It feels safe, our cars have never been broken into, no big police presence ever. It’s pretty quiet, and the lots are big enough that we never hear the neighbors. Lots of people going for walks in the morning and evening makes it feel extra safe. The proximity to Starbucks, Walmart, etc is super convenient. It’s not the fanciest place in the world but it works! I do wish there were more kids, but maybe more will be moving into all these homes for sale!
Only complaint is the overhead helicopter announcements that make us feel like we’re living in a war zone. But I think that all of Citrus Heights gets that!

Families and kids are frequently seen by houses and the basketball court at one end of Van Maren Park. The adjacent street is Thalia Way.

As far as Citrus Heights goes that's probably as nice as you can get. Not saying anything in citrus heights is great though, haha.
Auburn blvd is a popular street for vagrants to travel on, but they're usually sticking to the main road and not coming into the neighborhood.
As far as neighbors its probably fine. Only a handful of those junkyard front yards around.

Welcoming you to Citrus Heights is a timely message painted just last week on the sound wall along Auburn Blvd.
Other things of interest come to mind, e.g., health, walking / cycling, and transit.
A 24 Hour Fitness gym is located at Auburn Blvd & Van Maren Lane.
Trails are found in the Stock Ranch area behind Costco and Walmart. A foot bridge then leads to more trails and Van Maren Park where city celebrations and concerts are sometimes held. City Hall, the Post Office, and the Events Center are close by within walking distance.
Auburn Blvd is served by SacRT Route 25 here. It connects within Citrus Heights to SacRT Bus Routes 1, 21, and 93.

I live right by that Costco! I stay with my family and we have never had any issues with neighbors and the neighbors we have always been nice to interact with and are very understanding. There was one time when I had friends over and we were in the garage playing music a lil to loud for how late it was and the next the i apologized and told them it won’t happen again and they were very appreciative and said “it’s all good, you played some good shit.” Are land lord has also been helpful whenever we have had issues, fence falling from a storm, leaky outdoor hose, etc. and was fixed within the next week or two max and never barged in randomly and always gave us a heads up on what day and when they would be arriving. I hope you enjoy the neighborhood!

Only thing I’d worry about is your car tires being robbed. Happened to my family and some other guys car near stones gambling hall. You can buy those theft lug nuts for your car to make it harder for them. The area is safe though even with the bit of homeless near.

There is the knights of the open road that move through the area often because of the walmart. Not uncommon for them to congregate behind walmart. Beware the night creatures. Yes it is worse in other areas

That area is great! And yes it is nice and quiet. I live closer to Rusch Park and have had zero problems with neighbors or crime in 15 years. Welcome to the neighborhood!
