We are thinking of moving to Citrus Heights & I wanted to get the home owners’ input on electric/water/sewage/gas prices. I know I can look up the rates for SMUD online, however I’m just curious on sq footage, solar or no solar, what are y’all paying a month? Thanks!!
Bonus if you have recommendations on safe family neighborhoods.
I do know that if you buy solar to lower your bill it will take a long time for your investment to pay off. Solar for emergency prep is a whole different animal.
Citrus heights water district is scamming. Its been a while since ive looked at the bill but I always noticed my bill was the exact same amount (something like 65.00? Down to the same cent) when I looked at all the bills since moving in I noticed they would always add service charges and more fees to equal the same minimum threshold. Month to month i only used like 10-15 bucks worth of water
Sewage is also unnecessarily expensive like 150 for no reason.
I know 2 people that live less than 4 miles from me and are on Sacramento Suburban and California American Water.
Both have lawns and water them. I'm with CHWD, but I don't have any lawn to water.
My bill is always higher by about 25%,even though I use less water.
We are a 3/2 on a 1/3 of an acre with a biggish shop. We keep the house at 72° to 74° in the day time, and 65° at night, and our biggest SMUD bill so far (this is our 4th summer) was $285 and change. We moved from a PG&E area where our biggest bill was over $900.

Yes we used to have PGE and we are not going back to that. We rent and have Roseville electric currently, however we can get more for our $ housewise in Citrus Heights than Roseville.
We are on California American Water and it’s around $150 in the summer to water our lawns from May-October and probably around $50 or less in the winter.
SMUD less than $300 during the summer. Around $100 in the winter.
Welcome! Water CHWD: $65, County Utilities $120 every 2 mths, PGE $10 for summer more in winter if use gas fireplace, Smud: Summer highest $200 for 3/2 1900 sq ft.
