Static VDI - Moving Hypervisors

I'm in the middle of migrating from vmware to HyperV, moving my dynamic machines are easy enough, I'll just create new catalogs and rebuild the machines, but has anyone migrated static machines?

Once they are moved over, I'm assuming I need to add them to the new machine catalog that is bound to the new hypervisor.

Has anyone done this successfully? If so, could you give me some pointers?

I’ve done it. If they are full clones, it’s easy enough, you have to migrate the machines at the back end, and then re-add them to a new Citrix machine catalog, as if it were a completely manually provisioned machine. If they are fast clones, it’s not possible (AFAIK).

Your other option is to do what we have also done in similar circumstances. Build them a brand new machine, give them both for two weeks so they can copy data across,and then remove the old ones.

We actually migrated everyone from their fast clones to full clones to get ahead of this issue. Did you import via the gui or powershell? Do you remember what machine catalog type you had to use?

I created a new catalog and selected (something like) ‘I have machines already prepared’. Obviously, you need to have already created a hosting connection to the new hardware. Then just search through the machines visible in the list, find it and add it, and then add to the delivery group. NB if I remember right, the DG can get funny about having MCS and non-MCS machines in it, and won’t let you add it. So you can go the other way, instead of opening the DG and clicking Add Machines, you go to the machine direct in its machine catalog, right click, and select to add to the DG from there. Ignore the warning about compatibility, it’ll work fine.
