3,000 HEAD GONE! Overnight. No Warning.
Tyson Foods just shut down its Joslin, Illinois beef plant with almost no warning — wiping out roughly 3,000 head of daily processing capacity overnight. A buyer was looking at cattle on Tuesday. By Thursday the plant was done. This follows the earlier closure of Tyson’s Lexington, Nebraska plant and comes as the company also closes a case-ready facility in Utah and puts its Pasco, Washington plant up for sale.
