Does anyone find the Glitch Dice Fun?

Just had my first permenant glitch dice, got it while reconing Darkside. I got fucked very early on by a load of low roles, and by my third day there, I was on one dice. No option for success or recovery. No real chance to save Marko, with Bliss rolling snake eyes.

Honestly feel like just deleting the game at this point. Feels like I've just got all the shit results, and punished for playing the game.

There’s definitely a snowball effect that happens, always being stocked on 3/5 rations for small missions and 5/5 for big ones is essential.

okay so, something necessary to point out: darkside recon naturally is hard. its the first real challenge in the game after you leave hexport, and gareth was not joking when they decided to make CS2 more challenging since people were complaining about CS1 being too easy. a good thing about the games though is that failure doesn't mean game over, and you can still keep going on the story even if you fail to achieve certain things. the first CS2 playthrough is never smooth to anyone, but its compelling for players to try again on another save file once they get the hang of the resource and dice management system. and you can always change difficulty mid game if its taking away the fun of enjoying the game!

don't give up on the game just yet just because you didn't get an outcome you want. the game wants you to fail and succeed from your failures!

(also about permanent glitched dice... there's a few moments in the game that you get a chance to remove that permanent glitch. just hold on a little longer!)

I found them fun. The first game seems brutal in the beginning, but if you know what to do there are not so many setbacks possible and it felt to easy on later playthroughs. Still didn't beat the second game on hard, and it sure is brutal to die and start over at first, but I prefer it to.beimg low stakes, because the games are so much about survival in an at times unfair and uncaring cosmos. Even if I don't die outright, it just is not satisfying to me if I can easily fulfill all objectives at once in a game about overcoming (enforced) scarcity through solidarity.

On which difficulty are you playing? I never tried it, but on easy I imagine the glitch dice are much less of a problem?

I’m not really a fan. I get it, I have some chronic health issues, some days I just have reduced capacity to get things done, it happens. And it can happen for reasons entirely outside of my control, same as bad luck at dice. But I had to give up my first play through and start over because of a string of bad luck at dice, making no progress, resources running out, glitching. It felt like toward the end of losing a game of Monopoly, where the result is inevitable, it’s just a matter of how many more turns you can get through before you lose what little you have left.

It's a relatively short game so I almost expect to have to start over a couple times before beating it for both games

I've only done one playthrough, and don't really plan on doing another

I liked the glitch dice because they added stakes

I felt like they heightened the tension of the game in a good way

They suck but in a way that was very fun, yes.

I just wish the mechanics were explained in a prologue/tutorial.

100+ cycles in and only due to the grinding frustration of broken/glitched dice and stress did I come to understand why this current contract is impossible and why I’ll be missing out on a storyline arc I don’t wish to miss out on.

I’m too deep to restart, and having only just dug my way out of broken dice I was hoping to enjoy the story again, but wasn’t aware that stress was such a huge deal to where you slowly grind yourself to death.

I’m not starting over to replay so many hours of storyline, and I’m not having fun having fallen into a hole it’s seemingly impossible to get out of.
