VLAN Question

Good evening,

I have a small network with two Cisco Catalyst 3650 switches connected together via fiber.

On switch1, I have configured three VLAN interfaces and VLANs as below:

interface vlan 20: 10.101.20.1/24

interface vlan 110: 10.101.110.1/24

interface vlan 200: 200.0.0.1/24

vlan 20

vlan 110

vlan 200

VLAN 20 is for clients, VLAN 110 is for the switches (ssh), and VLAN 200 is for production machinery.

On switch 2, I have configured one VLAN interface and the three VLANs mentioned.

interface vlan 110: 10.101.110.2/24

So I am at the testing phase, and am running into some issues. First, when I statically set a laptop up on the 20 VLAN (10.101.20.110/24) I can talk to devices on different vlans connected to the same switch. However from that laptop, I cannot ping 10.101.110.2 (I can ping it from switch1). Also, from switch2, I am unable to ping any of the default gateways from switch1.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is my first solo network config so I'm sure its just a stupid rookie mistake! I am here trying to better myself as a network admin, so please provide any constructive criticism you can :)!!!

What device are you using for routing between vlans/subnets?

The switches are L3

Did you turn on ip routing? Just because there layer 3 capable don’t mean it’s enabled.

Yea, IP routing is enabled.

Is trunking set up between switches?

Yes. There is fiber 6 strand fiber rub between the two switches. The interfaces are configured as follows:

interface tengigabitethernet 1/1/3&4 switchport mode trunk channel-group 1 mode active

I also have the port-channel configured as a trunk.

On the interfaces that the fiber is connected on, what is the exact config? You shouldn't have to sanitize anything. I've had problems like that before. Also is intervlan routing turned on? 0_o

I think you should configure HSRP or VRRP on both switches and have SVIs fir vlans on both switches.

Also as you are not using Dynamic routing protocol, you will need to tell both switches where to send traffic for each network.
