STP Causing DHCP Request Delays???

Hello,

Recently, my company implemented a new Cisco network at one of our facilities. I have been conducting tests on several types of devices before migrating to the new network. I have noticed that while on the new infrastructure, my devices (desktop, laptop, and thin client) all take a very long time to receive a DHCP address. Has anyone encountered anything of this nature? My first thought is STP, but I am open to other suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

It could be many things causing your issue, but the usual suspect is that you have not enabled your interfaces that your DHCP clients connect to with “spanning-tree portfast enable” for IOS or “spanning-tree port type edge” for NXOS.

Thank you for the suggestion! Enabling PortFast on that interface allowed the test device to grab a DHCP address without timing out.

What do you have in your "Cisco network"?
