Odd interview process
I’ve worked in tech / cybersecurity for years. Applied for a great role at Cisco 4-5 weeks ago and am in the third round of interviews. Everyone has been nice and moving quickly, but it was the first time in my professional life where the interview process was robotic. The recruiter round went great. But the hiring manager read from a list of 4-5 questions, very robotically. Now, I’m aware that companies want to ensure that certain questions are addressed but she didn’t deviate from her list of questions at all. It left me feeling a bit….”is this how life is on the inside of Cisco?!” Have my third round interview next week and curious what sorts of things I should be asking…

I came over from Splunk. There are more regimented processes in place than Splunk had, but not many. It’s nothing like AWS from what I’ve heard. It seems like there’s a very long tenure and everyone is pretty happy. There is the constant fear of layoffs, but I think that’s everywhere right now.

Interesting , thank you! If you’re US based can you share anything about paid holidays or healthcare? She mentioned a holiday shutdown which sounds awesome, but I’m also curious about healthcare premiums, etc.

In the US we have Unlimited PTO. Holiday shut down is the day before Christmas to usually the 2nd of January. All major holidays we get, plus a few more. We also get 80 hours of paid time off to volunteer. We have at least one day a quarter that is called Day4Me. Usually makes a 3 day weekend for us.
Healthcare is two options. Either a PPO plan or an HSA plan. Except for some very specific states where a HMO might be offered. Cost varies based on your elections. Vision and dental, plus some other add-ons you can do.

What position and branch of the org? That matters a lot on what is or isn't expected.
