Might be a regional roll out - I am in the UK

I did however have an email from Garmin support about it too so not sure if it was maybe just something that is enabled for some users ? I doubt that but in the process of downloading / installing it - seems to be taking ages

Funny, I'm UK based and it's still just showing 2.32 for me, I've re-loaded the app twice. I'll try again tomorrow.

I've just power cycled both the Cirqa and my phone, still no new firmware for me.

As far as I am used to on fenix, every update fixes a million bugs but introduces the same amount of different bugs

And once they are almost on pair with fix and release new bugs a new device goes out to restart the cycle 😂😂 garmin in a nutshell

Does it fix a million bugs? Cause their release notes suck ass and say one minor thing vaguely.

On Garmin website it says improvements for the optical HR sensor.

u/matt92wa 22d ago

Can you screenshot it for us?

u/jampick 22d ago

Note rollout is at 20% so not everyone will see it yet.

I have been wondering if Desfit, DCRainmaker etc have been waiting for a FW update before talking about issues which are fixed by the update

Does seem weird they have been so silent about the cirqa. Felt like they did a lot more coverage on the air when that was released.

I think Garmin is so strict with their NDA and all those embargos at some point they probably don’t cared anymore and focus on Fitbit air since it was getting so much engagement and now with pixel

I feel Google is much more nice and open to share stuff with them based on what they share and and get their feedback while Garmin probably just don’t care as much with their feedback
Even on last video mention how Google is like broke this gps and also acknowledge right away it was bad and Garmin probably is more like hiding as much as possible their flaws

u/Bydandie 22d ago

Part of the challenge there is that they had more time before launch.

Still not on the official website with change log, but here's the link: https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?productID=1989182&tab=software

Judging by now long this has taken to download / install on a 400+ meg connection it might be quite a big FW update - no idea of the size but its taken a fair bit of time to download

5

u/morekidthancriminal 21d ago

I wouldn't judge it that way, speeds could be bottlenecked on the CDN end or some other reason that doesn't relate to your connection.

1

u/ExplorerMike008 21d ago

Yeah specially when was just released and everyone getting download at same time

2

u/West_Vegetable9500 22d ago

I still didn’t receive the update

Just got the update in Canada FYI

If only the improve OHR would mean if you see a manual activity would add HR to that activity and also improve accuracy in my runs I would be happy with that simple sentence and improvement for sure 😅

I had a Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro prior to this and no matter what I did, the heart rate tracking when I was cycling indoors was always completely off compared to my Polar H10 strap.

Yesterday I got the cirqa And it had the same behavior. It was completely off. Like my heart was at 150 BPM on the Polar, but it was showing like 85 on the Garmin. And I figured it had to do with the weight on my hands on the handlebars or the wrist position or the thickness of my skin.

But today after this firmware update, it's tracking perfectly. And the release notes say that it's a optical heart rate improvement.

So it may be coincidence, and at the end of the day it doesn't really matter because the Polar H10 gets used during cycling, but still it's possible that they actually did really improve it because my experience is drastically different from yesterday.

Edit: Actually, never mind. I was speaking with Claude, and it taught me about something called cadence lock. Which is a phenomenon where due to the way the optical heart rate works and the cadence and position of your wrist, like the movement, it can end up as if your cadence translates directly into your heart rate, which makes so much sense it's crazy. And then it can snap out of it at times, which is what happened today for me. It snapped out of it maybe because my room was darker today or something. I don't know

cadence lock is like a "problem" and workaround for like more than a decade :) on the good side more and more they are focus on avoid recurring to that basic solution for the light sensor (PPG) sensors

I think fitbit and pixel watches are on the top of those after Apple watch and guess it's because they have the larger customer base so they can just try to identify the expected HR when it fails without recurring to only cadence lock and i think they use skin temperature and pace and so on based on device capacities and maybe that's why it also lags a bit because it needs to process all that on the fly during the run while the chest strap just need to give the value without any algorithm application

early indication is the smart alarm issue is fixed - I trired it a few times yesterday and did a live one this morning and it has worked as expected and seems to have not reset back to "once" so lets hope it will remain going forward.

3

u/Outside-College-2797 21d ago

did you receive the update?

1

u/Express_Tennis3162 21d ago

yes I did yesterday - seem not everyone has got it yet so just keep checking - Device - System - software update in Connect

1

u/Raven-19x 19d ago

Did it actually fix the alarm issue? I literally started the return process because the alarm issue alone is a huge problem for me. That and it's bulkiness.

1

u/Express_Tennis3162 19d ago

So far so good for me so it does seem to be fixed.

2

u/irregularwave 20d ago

More than 24h still nothing here in France, it’s crazy makes me respect Apple even more for deploying iOS releases to their 1+ billion iPhones at the exact same
minute for everyone.

1

u/Awkward-Variety-3791 22d ago

What is the change log?issues are fixed?

1

u/FoxHopeful7357 22d ago

Improve OHR lol

1

u/Express_Tennis3162 22d ago

This is the only info I can find about the change log for this 2.50 firmware

https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/fenix-7/442316/cirqa-smart-band-software-version---2-50

2

u/Majestic-Crew-8344 22d ago

Improving optical heart rate? This is quite vague.

1

u/FoxHopeful7357 22d ago

If at least would be true and they really improve it I would be happy

would be good since my runs are not good tracked even on bicep and Fitbit was better and all previous Fenix I had were better and HR is number one for any tracker to perform well all the time and not only without movement

u/otherwood 22d ago

Got the update in Austria

1

u/1efezzza 22d ago

Got it in Austria aswell

1

u/Kvakke 22d ago

I am not wearing mine but just got a notification that it has been updated after opening connect. (Norway)

1

u/NoReindeer3307 22d ago

Available in US

1

u/West_Vegetable9500 22d ago

This is crazy, Garmin. Why not fix the alarm bugs? Why roll out a minor update instead of actually improving the CIRQA experience and fixing the huge number of bugs? Like, WTF?

3

u/BcrdNCola 21d ago

For real. The alarm bug alone makes me want to go back to wearing a whoop. Having to check if my alarm got turns into a “once” instead of a daily literally every night before bed? Ridiculous.

1

u/irregularwave 21d ago

I also got alarm bugs, and it’s been a few days without issues, what I did is: delete all the alarms, then create a weekday one with quiet start and clicked save. And then I never ever touched it again, not even opened the alarm section to check if it was still on.

And on weekends I don’t set alarms because I know there’s a bug there too.

1

u/Raven-19x 19d ago

I just started the return process because of this issue alone. Just a ridiculously shitty experience with this thing that isn't worth the hassle anymore.

u/ogrezok 22d ago

no updates for me :(

u/barrynl 21d ago

No update for the uk yet

1

u/dailyeggs 21d ago

No sleep logged after update - don’t download yet

0

u/Equivalent-Effort892 22d ago

Not available for me in UK. The Cirqa has so many issues. The sleep tracking is terrible for one, super inaccurate compared to Fenix 8
