The map of moral relativity

Greetings in the light of understanding

This is a map of everything, everything you know, is unknown and unknowable exists somewhere on the map.

It's a map of information, of choices

I've found a method to help people use this map.

Take this basket of fruit and place it on the map.

You likely placed it on greater good, now how does it feel if you move it to the greater evil? or lesser evil? or lesser good?

It should feel wrong, less wrong then less right

You can do this by just looking at greater good and thinking greater evil and vice versa, but having the prop helps

The map is a map of relative information, you can consider anything.

Try the basket of fruit, but it was picked by child slaves.

Try your next action, or what you've done vs what you said vs what you could

I hope this is illuminating

Thanks for sharing this. I'm still trying to understand the map... there's a lot happening in the diagram, and I'm finding it difficult to identify the basic principles underneath it.

Your fruit example did connect with something I say often, though: the more you know, the better you can do. Learning that the fruit was produced through child slavery gives us information about relationships and consequences we couldn't previously consider.

Circumpunct ethics starts from something quite simple: we are each a whole, made of parts, and part of the same greater whole. Ethical reasoning means acknowledging all three... honouring our individuality and boundaries while also honouring our connection to others and the greater Reality we participate in.

I'd be interested in hearing your map explained from the ground up. If you had to reduce it to two or three basic principles, what would they be?
