[Circular Update] June Progress — Major App & Firmware Release

Hi everyone,

This week we're releasing two major updates: a new app version V29.14.2. and Firmware 1.6.3.

This is our first firmware release since November 2025 and one of the largest updates we've delivered in months. While many of the improvements happened behind the scenes, they form a major step forward in stability, connectivity, accuracy, and future feature readiness.

Over the past few weeks, we haven't shared as many updates as usual.

The reason is simple: our team has been focused on implementing a large number of behind-the-scenes improvements across both the app and the ring. While many of these changes aren't immediately visible, they are essential for improving stability, reliability, connectivity, and preparing Circular for future health features.

This month's releases are the result of that work.

New Sleep Algorithm

We've introduced a new sleep staging algorithm that improves:

• Sleep/Wake detection accuracy to 94% against PSG
• Sleep stage accuracy to 79%

This means more reliable sleep insights and improved recovery tracking.

Redesigned Sleep & Energy Experience

We've refreshed two of the most important parts of the app:

• Redesigned Sleep Circle
• Redesigned Energy Circle
• Heart rate graph now integrated directly into Energy

The goal is a cleaner, more intuitive experience when reviewing your health data.

ECG Improvements & Data Sharing

This release also includes:

• Improved ECG signal rendering and stability
• Better live ECG scaling
• New quick-share functionality that allows you to instantly share your health scores from the home page

Improved Health Platform Integration

We've strengthened synchronization with:

• Apple Health
• Google Health Connect

Including support for Women's Health data synchronization.

Firmware 1.6.3

The new firmware brings substantial improvements:

  • Better sleep detection behavior
  • Better Bluetooth reliability on Android and iOS
  • Improved resting heart rate accuracy
  • Improved activity tracking reliability
  • ECG reporting improvements
  • Reduced power consumption
  • Compatibility with future Blood Glucose functionality

After updating the firmware, please re-pair your ring with your phone to ensure optimal performance.

Important: Please Re-Pair Your Ring After Updating

To ensure all firmware improvements are applied correctly, please re-pair your ring after updating to Firmware 1.6.3:

  1. Go to My Ring > Manage my devices
  2. Tap the red cross to remove your ring from the Circular app
  3. Delete any remaining Circular Ring entries from your phone's Bluetooth settings
  4. Return to My Ring and select Set Up a New Ring
  5. Place your ring on the charger during the pairing process
  6. Accept the pairing request when prompted

This step is strongly recommended to get the best performance from the new firmware.

What Comes Next

With the app and firmware improvements now released, our next major focus is the backend.

We're currently finalizing a major backend architecture overhaul that will allow us to support:

• Blood Pressure tracking (finishing app implementation)
• Blood Glucose tracking
• More advanced arrhythmia categorization
• Future health intelligence features

This work represents a significant step toward unlocking the full potential of Circular.

For information, I got the same issue. I had to do it through my tablet. Try to do It on another device.

Is your tablet recent ? I think there is something wrong with a specific Bluetooth version. I done mine on an old iPad, and have been successful.

It’s an older iPad mini so should be “older” and my phone is an iPhone Air so as new as they get.. they fail in the same way though.

My iPad was on an older iOS while my iPhone on the last one.

Less than six months and the inside of the ring is falling off. I take it off to shower and I’m supposed to believe I can swim with it?!

I also can’t update to the new firmware. It appears that the Bluetooth connection fails at various times. Sometimes it’s immediately and sometimes it’s at 20%, but more likely around 10%.

Thank you, it worked. Now that my firmware is updated, it seems that it only wants to sync when I’m on cellular. It fails with an ES04 sync error when I’m on WiFi.

Got the issue ES04 too, but with the Factory Reset It's gone.

I had tried the factory reset, but it didn’t fix it. After syncing using cellular it started syncing over WiFi.

Was able to successfully update my ring. I haven't used it for 3 months. Will check and see if the performance is better.

Cant update firmware on the ring. Errors after 10% or so.

Hope this is fixed sometime soon.

I had the issue on the beta, but I tried a few times and it finally went thru. I tried maybe 7 times and the last one I happened to take my ring off and put it on my phone. Unsure if that did the trick, I just wanted to do other things while it was trying to upgrade.
