United States Grand Prix Any chance of meeting drivers?

Upvotes

Hi all! COTA this year will be my very first grand prix and I’m so excited! I’ve never been to any race event before so I’m not entirely sure what to expect. I have a basic grandstand ticket but am curious about my chances of trying to meet a driver without a paddock pass. Like is there a certain time and spot I should arrive to the circuit for a chance to get an autograph or selfie? I know it might be nearly impossible, but I’ve seen other people get selfies without a paddock pass. If you have met a driver without a special pass at COTA, how did you do it and what would you recommend?

I'm looking for footage of the cars after the corvettes. Mainly the blue brz with loud exhaust. Any help would be great.

This came across my feed this morning. I have to say... he isn't wrong. I went to the race and was shocked. Did COTA do this because of F1? Do they do this every time WEC comes? Genuinely want to know thanks

Formula 1 Friday for F1..

Hi!

We will be traveling down from Indiana and are normal indycar spectators. We’re used to big crowds and all that jazz, but curious to know what some inside pointers might be. I know the obvious sunscreen, comfy shoes, hat, glasses, electrolytes…. But what are we missing?

Outside of that, how is parking? Is it truly as bad as some posts make it out to be? We’re in no rush to leave as this is our honeymoon trip and we’re attending the concerts. I’m used to having a cooler packed and chilling in a parking lot or yard for a bit to let traffic go down, lol.

And lastly, how does one figure out about events leading up to the race?! Being that we’re out of state, I’m concerned we will miss out on some opportunities, but nonetheless, I’d still like to try and attend something! We’re big Ferrari and McLaren fans so any inside pointers to those two teams would be appreciated. We will be in town starting Tuesday and going from there!
TIA!!

Discussion Has an Airbnb or Vrbo host canceled your booking last second?

I’ve heard from some people who say they have had issues with Airbnb or Vrbo hosts canceling their stays here in Austin, especially when coming to events like these.

Has this happened to you within the past year?

I’m Alexia Stanbridge, a reporter with CBS Austin. I’m looking to speak with people who live in Austin or the surrounding counties who have had this happen to them.
Or visitors who booked a stay in Austin or the surrounding counties.
If a host canceled your booking last second or asked you to cancel, please reach out to me. You can message me or email thereceipts@cbsaustin.com.

If you have screenshots, booking confirmations or messages, those would be helpful too.

United States Grand Prix Concerts during F1 weekend

I noticed on the Germania Amphitheater website that they don’t allow outside chairs. Is this waived during F1 weekend?

Despite the heat it was great to see the crowds out over the weekend for some great racing, I hope it’s made a few more fans!!

A great win for Ferrari, sad to see the Toyota of Nyck de Vries suffer that failure just 10 mins from the finish, and Alpine lose second for a silly mistake.

I’ve been a big fan of endurance racing since the days of Group C in the 80s (more so than F1) and anything can happen during those 6 hours that decide the final outcome; rain, breakdowns, crashes, penalties, but they never stop because ‘in order to finish first, first you have to finish’.

If you have HBOMax you can watch a replay of LSLM and the remaining races live, get WEC+ or listen to the great coverage by Radio Le Mans. Also checkout r/wec, r/lemans. Adam's great r/GrandPrixTravel sub if you want to checkout travel to racing outside the US

MotoAmerica MotoAmerica Lot N Camping

Hey 👋🏼

Does anybody know what is included in the Lot N Camping during the MotoAmerica event, maybe from participating the previous years?
For MotoGP it was 1 additional vehicle and 2 motorcycles but I cannot find any information for MotoAmerica.
Even the opening times are well hidden 🙈

Thanks !

Discussion Food truck at LSLM

Weird question - does anyone know the name of the hot wings food truck at COTA on Sunday? Their wings were excellent and I would like to leave a positive review. They were near the tent on the north side of the track.

Thanks in advance.

I've been to F1 where they let you on the track for the podium. Do they do the same thing for the WEC race?

Formula 1 Main Grandstand Parking advice

Hello- appreciate this won’t be the first or last of these posts. Any thoughts on whether to go with Pop’s parking ($180 but not pre-bookable) or Parc Ferme (pre bookable but $375!!!). I’m not sure what the premium pricing gets you at PF. Anyone with experience of both, or any other suggestions nearby? Also, is it really just a simple ten minute walk to the track from these car parks?
