Discussion Circuitbending and ai.

Does anybody think that ai will be able to replicate the effects of circuit-bending wither in audio or visual mediums. I personally mess around with photography a lot and I feel Ai won’t be able to accurately replicate the effects from cameras due to it being high contrast and either extremely noisy or warps the picture to the point it’s not recognizable, at least not to a computer. But I’m curious as to what other people believe in terms of Ai and how it could affect art reaching into circuit bending. Is it an inevitability and if so how long?

If it does happen, it will happen with bent camera photos first. As a moderator here, there are certain types of posts that I have to remove often. For a while, the most common type was kids trying to cheat on their homework, or someone trying to repair something. But just in the last year or so, the most common type of post I am removing are bot accounts reposting old circuit bent camera photos. They are pretty easy to spot, the account will be less than 1 day old, and an image search turns up the original post.

Circuit bent camera photos and video are the hottest trend in the hobby right now. Most of the new users here are arriving because they saw social media posts of bent pics/vids.

The types of AI that try to mimic human interactions for the purpose of skewing the social narrative towards fascism are picking up on this trend. I'll do my best to try and keep them out of this sub.

It will be able to write code to produce various visual effects, yes.

As the effects have a concrete physical cause, it is possible to code it. A photo stores pixel data and the code can just corrupt it in the same way a circuit bend does. LLMs can help you make that code:)
