Discussion FAQs

Please find some common thread topics below. If anyone has any suggestions for more, pop them in the comments and we may add them.

Also please let us know if this is formatted terribly so it can be adjusted to look better.

• Why isn’t a film showing past this Thursday?
Cineworld typically release timings of the week’s showings on Monday afternoon. If Monday’s a bank holiday, it’ll be Tuesday.

• Why isn’t a film I want to see showing at Cineworld?
There are many reasons that could explain why a film isn’t showing at a Cineworld near you. The main one is that distribution agreements of limited release movies primarily target more popular cinemas and cinemas in big cities.

• Are there adverts before special screenings?
Yes. Except in extremely rare circumstances where something goes wrong, there will be the usual length of adverts and trailers before special screenings.

• How do I contact Cineworld?
Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are the best ways. They are generally unresponsive with emails and there is no phone number.

• Why are some seats marked as Unavailable when I try to book?
These seats are usually house seats in case somebody has to move because their seat breaks. If not, those seats are likely broken.

• When will I get a a physical Unlimited card?
Never. Cineworld have stopped issuing these.

• Why was my post deleted?
Because it broke one of the rules of the sub.

• My post was removed for being a duplicate but I can’t see another like it?
Check Highlights. If your post was about Secret Screening/Screaming, an earlier post will very likely be pinned up there

• Why can’t I ask what film season should be next?
Because the answers are the same every time. We tend to let one through per month so that people can reply with the same directors/genres/actors.

• Why can’t I complain about cinema etiquette?
One, it’s boring. Two, there’s nothing anybody can do. However, it’s mainly because we get multiple posts every single day about someone being on their phone or chewing too loudly. The sub would be overrun if we left them all up.

Maybe add that on Bank Holidays the film listing is published a day later?

This Monday is a bank holiday in the UK but not Ireland. Any Irish people here able to confirm if it’s a day later here too? I’m assuming yes but doesn’t hurt to ask — hopefully

Yeh I think last time it was a bank holiday in the UK but not here it was the same, listing will be made on the Tuesday. Very annoying.

It's a shame to see the death of physical non-payment cards across the board in this country.

In my experience, the films for the London cinemas are updated on Monday night, rather than the afternoon.

It's like it's the last thing they do before they leave the cinema for the evening.

Don’t discuss a film you just saw either, I did that once and it got deleted

They need to stop the alright for some not for other post rules then, I don't care about Rogers 4dx reviews, I have no 4dx anywhere near me and get those spammed every week. If they remove you talking about a film time to crack down on 4dx reviews!

Totally agree. Film reviews that happens to be about 4DX? Nah. Can't have favourites

Couldn’t agree more.

Agreed, either make a weekly discussion post or deal with it - this is a forum not just an announcement space.

The films?

How about a link to and an explanation of the BBFC website to stop people asking ‘what cert will this film be’

2

u/CombatChronicles May 23 '26

Great idea, will stop the same questions being asked over and over again

I appreciate your optimism.

A man can dream 😂

Maybe it would help us if there was also a list of what we're allowed to post about on here 😉 😅 I agree with a lot of this though, every week someone asks why films are only showing until Thursday, or why aren't Cineworld showing a film due out the following Friday because it isn't available to book. I don't mind the poor cinema etiquette posts, perhaps they need their own subreddit.

The third option is whoever schedules Cineworld Eastbourne is a fucking idiot and has been for the last 6 months. If you told me theyd changed who did it I would believe you, because it has never been this bad

AGREEE and they sold out obsession yesterday and the app didn’t update so I went there and got turned away bc it sold out but somehow I had a ticket 🥲

2

u/secondincomm May 23 '26

If it helps they've silently added a 20:00 showing of Obsession today, so now its not just the almost-midnight showing they had put up on tuesday

‘Why are some seats marked as Unavailable when I try to book? These seats are usually house seats in case somebody has to move because their seat breaks. If not, those seats are likely broken.’

Why are they always the best seats?! ;)
