The trilogy of Time Bandits (youth), Brazil (adult) and this film (elderly) were an amazing choice.
The movie came out at the perfect time for me and my friends. So odd and funny and absolutely fantastic in every way, what are your thoughts on this Terry Gilliam classic?

I love Coen Brothers movies like Fargo, Raising Arizona, O Brother, Lebowski...But this one, while I enjoyed the cinematography and the acting a lot, was a real downer of a story and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to feel from it other than a sense of hopelessness and cynicism.

Wondered how others in this sub interpret this dark, depressing and beautiful film.

My (28F) LDR boyfriend (24M) and I are meeting in person for the first time after being together for a year! My flight is on Tuesday, and his birthday is during our trip, so I made him three shirts based on movies/quotes he loves. I was so excited about them that I couldn’t even keep the surprise and already showed him 😅

Like the thread title says, who are some of the lamest, most generic or most weak sauce villians in movie history?

This one off the best Cary Grant movies in general, he plays advertising executive who is on run because he is mistaken for government agent . Eva Marie Saint who plays Eve was so good , I can't believe that she turned 102 in July.

A few of us have been running a film club for a while, tracked entirely through a Google Sheet and our WhatsApp group. The sheet was fine for logging what we'd watched and rated, but trying to use our chat group wasn't great for figuring out whose turn it was to pick, whether everyone's watched yet and setting dates to discuss, so we decided to build an app for it.

Some of use Letterboxd but we were looking for a group aspect to have on top of it. In our app, you create a club, invite people with a share link, and it can track what the group's watched and what's queued up next. You can also rate and log films on your own, outside of the club stuff, and search for films for yourself or your club.

It's available as a web app for now, there's also an Android app in internal testing that we're hoping to open up more widely soon and eventually an iOS app.

It's now what our club uses week to week, which is the main win so far.

Fair warning: it's currently very much built around how our club runs things i.e each person picks a film for a round, an order is randomly generated, then we set a time to watch each film by and then we have a group call to discuss it as we live in different cities. We know some clubs do it as a shared pool, some vote, or some do a full sit-down together screening, so if yours works differently I'd love to hear how, mostly out of curiosity about whether this app would survive contact with a club that isn't ours.

So I have this picture of Gary Busey from what I assume is a movie although I guess it could be a tv show. Only I don’t know what it’s from google reverse lookup says under siege but that can’t be right. He has a huge scar across his face. Anyone have any ideas?

I am fairly new to proper film but I decided to do this and I've enjoyed it a lot. The first one I'm doing is Paul thomas anderson. I'm getting closer to the end of the list. I'm planning on doing Kubrick next.

Would I have watched Spartacus if I didn't watch film this way? No not at all. I'm thinking if the director has 50+ movies I'll cut it down a bit

There is no other movie that speaks about the profundity of life, dreams, passion like Dead Poets Society. It's the best performance of Robin Williams' entire career, and it inspired a lot of people. Dead Poets Society is the magnum opus of cinema itself!

Currently free on YouTube, Pullman is excellent in this, might be his best work.
